Psalmen 85
1 Voor muziekbegeleiding. Een psalm van de zonen van Kore. Jahweh, Gij hebt weer uw land begenadigd, En het lot van Jakob ten beste gekeerd;
To the Chief Musician. For the Sons of Korah. A Melody. Thou hast accepted, O Yahweh, thy land, Thou hast brought back the captives of Jacob;
2 Gij hebt uw volk zijn schuld vergeven, En al zijn zonden bedekt,
Thou hast taken away, the iniquity of thy people, Thou hast covered, all their sin. (Selah)
3 Heel uw gramschap laten varen, Geblust de gloed van uw toorn.
Thou hast withdrawn all thine indignation, Thou hast ceased from the glow of thine anger.
4 Richt ons dan op, o God van ons heil, En leg uw wrevel over ons af!
Restore us, O God of our salvation, And take away thy vexation towards us.
5 Of zoudt Gij voor eeuwig op ons vertoornd willen zijn, Verbolgen blijven van geslacht tot geslacht,
To times age-abiding, wilt thou be angry with us? Wilt thou prolong thine anger, from generation to generation?
6 En niet liever ons laten herleven, Opdat uw volk zich in U kan verheugen?
Wilt not, thou thyself, again give us life, That, thy people, may rejoice in thee.
7 Toon ons uw goedheid, o Jahweh, En schenk ons uw heil!
Show us, O Yahweh, thy lovingkindness, And, thy salvation, wilt thou grant us.
8 Ik wil horen wat Jahweh mij zegt; Want Hij spreekt woorden van vrede Voor zijn volk en zijn vromen, Voor die op Hem blijven hopen!
I will hear, what GOD—Yahweh—will speak, —For he will bespeak prosperity to his people, And to his men of lovingkindness, And to them who return with their heart unto him.
9 Waarachtig; zijn heil is nabij aan hen, die Hem vrezen, En zijn heerlijkheid woont in ons Land.
Surely, near unto them who revere him, is his salvation, That the Glory, may settle down, in our land.
10 Genade en trouw ontmoeten elkander, Gerechtigheid en vrede omhelzen elkaar:
Lovingkindness and faithfulness, have met together, Righteousness and prosperity, have kissed each other;
11 De trouw ontspruit aan de aarde, De gerechtigheid blikt uit de hemel.
Faithfulness, out of the earth, doth spring forth, And, righteousness, out of the heavens, hath looked down.
12 Jahweh zelf schenkt zijn zegen, En ons Land geeft zijn oogst;
Yahweh himself too, will give us the blessing, And, our land, shall yield her increase.
13 Gerechtigheid gaat voor Hem uit, En geluk volgt zijn schreden!
Righteousness, before him, shall march long, —That he may make, into a way, the steps of its feet.
