Psalmen 5
1 Voor muziekbegeleiding: met fluiten. Een psalm van David. Jahweh, hoor naar mijn roepen, Let op mijn zuchten;
For the Leader; upon the Nehiloth. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my (meditation)
2 Luister naar mijn schreien, Mijn Koning en God.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for unto Thee do I pray.
3 Want tot U richt ik mijn bede, o Jahweh, Reeds in de vroegte hoort Gij mijn smeken; ‘s Morgens leg ik het voor U neer, En zie vertrouwend naar U op.
O LORD, in the morning shalt Thou hear my voice; in the morning will I order my prayer unto Thee, and will look forward.
4 Gij zijt geen God, wien de boosheid behaagt, Nooit is de zondaar U welkom;
For Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness; evil shall not sojourn with Thee.
5 Geen goddeloze mag Voor uw ogen verschijnen! Gij haat al wie ongerechtigheid pleegt,
The boasters shall not stand in Thy sight; Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 En leugenaars richt Gij te gronde; De man van bloed en bedrog Is een afschuw voor Jahweh.
Thou destroyest them that speak falsehood; the LORD abhorreth the man of blood and of deceit.
7 Maar door uw grote genade Mag ìk uw huis binnengaan, En naar uw heilige tempel gericht, U vol eerbied aanbidden.
But as for me, in the abundance of Thy lovingkindness will I come into Thy house; I will bow down toward Thy holy temple in the fear of Thee.
8 Geleid mij, o Jahweh, Naar uw gerechtigheid; En om wille van die mij belagen, Baan mij de weg voor uw aanschijn.
O LORD, lead me in Thy righteousness because of them that lie in wait for me; make Thy way straight before my face.
9 Neen, in hun mond is geen waarheid, En hun hart is bedorven; Een open graf is hun keel, Ze huichelen met hun tong.
For there is no sincerity in their mouth; their inward part is a yawning gulf, their throat is an open sepulchre; they make smooth their tongue.
10 Laat ze boeten, o God, Aan eigen sluwheid te gronde gaan; Stoot ze weg om hun talrijke zonden, Want ze zijn weerbarstig tegen U.
Hold them guilty, O God, let them fall by their own counsels; cast them down in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against Thee.
11 Dan verheugen zich allen, Die tot U vluchten; Jubelen eeuwig, Daar Gij ze beschermt; En juichen in U, Die uw Naam beminnen.
So shall all those that take refuge in Thee rejoice, they shall ever shout for joy, and Thou shalt shelter them; let them also that love Thy name exult in Thee.
12 Want Gij zegent den rechtvaardige, Jahweh; Als een schild dekt hem uw liefde.
For Thou dost bless the righteous; O LORD, Thou dost encompass him with favour as with a shield.
