Psalmen 46
1 Voor muziekbegeleiding. Van de zonen van Kore. Met sopraanstemmen. Een lied. God is onze toevlucht en sterkte Een machtige hulp in de nood:
For the music director by the sons of Korah. According to alamoth, a song. God is our protection and our strength; always ready to help when troubles come.
2 Dus vrezen wij niets, al wordt de aarde uit haar voegen gerukt, En schudden de bergen in het diepst van de zee;
So we will not be afraid though the earth shakes, though the mountains fall into the depths of the sea,
3 Al bruisen en schuimen haar wateren, En rillen de bergen door haar geweld! Jahweh der heirscharen is met ons, Onze burcht is Jakobs God!
though the waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble as the waters surge violently! (Selah)
4 Een vloed met zijn stromen brengt de Godsstad in vreugde, De heilige stede van den Allerhoogste.
A river flows to bring happiness to those in God's city, the holy place where the Most High lives.
5 God is daarbinnen, nooit zal zij wankelen; God zal haar helpen, als de dageraad komt:
God is in the midst of the city; it will never fall. God protects it as soon as it is light.
6 Al woeden de volken, al wankelen de staten, Al beeft de aarde door de stem van zijn donder!
Nations are in turmoil, kingdoms collapse. God raises his voice and the earth melts.
7 Jahweh der heirscharen is met ons, Onze burcht is Jakobs God!
The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob protects us. (Selah)
8 Komt dan, en ziet de werken van Jahweh, Die wonderen op de aarde wrocht:
Come and see what the Lord has achieved! See the amazing things he has done on the earth!
9 Die de oorlogen bant buiten de grenzen der aarde, De bogen breekt, de lansen vernielt, de wagens verbrandt.
He stops wars all over the world. He smashes the bow; he breaks the spear; he sets shields on fire.
10 Houdt op! Erkent, dat Ik God ben, Hoog boven de volkeren, verheven op aarde!
Stop fighting! Recognize I am God! I am the ruler of the nations; I am the ruler of the earth.
11 Jahweh der heirscharen is met ons, Onze burcht is Jakobs God!
The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob protects us. (Selah)
