Psalmen 32
1 Van David; een leerdicht. Gelukkig hij, wiens schuld is vergeven, Wiens zonde is bedekt;
“Of David: a Maskil.” Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Gelukkig de mens, wiens misdaad Jahweh niet langer gedenkt, In wiens geest geen onoprechtheid meer woont.
Happy is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 Zolang ik bleef zwijgen, werd mijn gebeente verteerd Door mijn kreunen heel de dag;
When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my crying all the day.
4 Want uw hand drukte dag en nacht op mij neer, En mijn merg droogde weg in verschroeiende gloed.
For by day and night lay thy hand heavily upon me: my [life's] moisture hath been changed through the droughts of summer. (Selah)
5 Maar toen ik U mijn zonde beleed, Mijn schuld niet verheelde, En sprak: "Ik wil Jahweh mijn misdaad bekennen"; Toen hebt Gij de schuld mijner zonde vergeven.
My sin do I ever acknowledge unto thee, and my iniquity have I not covered up. I said, I will make confession because of my transgressions unto the Lord: and thou truly forgavest the iniquity of my sin. (Selah)
6 Daarom moeten alle vromen U om vergiffenis smeken, Zolang Gij U nog vinden laat; Dan zullen bij de stortvloed de onstuimige wateren Hèn niet bereiken.
For this shall every pious one pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely [then] when great waters overflow, they shall never reach unto him.
7 Gij zijt mijn schutse, en behoedt mij voor rampspoed, Gij omringt mij met jubel van heil!
Thou art my hiding-place; from distress wilt thou preserve me; with songs of deliverance wilt thou encompass me. (Selah)
8 Nu wil ik u onderricht geven, De weg wijzen, die ge moet gaan; Ik wil u raden, En mijn oog op u richten.
I will instruct thee and I will teach thee concerning the way which thou oughtest to go: I will counsel thee with my eye.
9 Wees niet als paarden Of muilezels zonder verstand, Die men moet mennen met toom en gebit, Of ze gehoorzamen niet.
Be ye not like the horse, or like the mule, who hath no understanding; who must be held in with bit and bridle, his ornament, lest he come near unto thee.
10 Veel kommer valt den boze ten deel, Maar de genade omringt wie op Jahweh vertrouwt.
Many are the pains of the wicked; but him that trusteth in the Lord will he encompass with kindness.
11 Verblijdt u in Jahweh en jubelt, gij vromen, Juicht allen, oprechten van hart!
Rejoice in the Lord, and be glad, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
