Psalmen 146

1 Halleluja! Loof Jahweh mijn ziel!

Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

2 Zolang ik leef, wil ik Jahweh prijzen, Mijn God verheerlijken, zolang ik besta!

While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises to my God while I have any being.

3 Vertrouwt niet op vorsten, Op mensen, die niet kunnen helpen:

Put not your trust in princes, [nor] in the son of man, in whom [there is] no help.

4 Is hun adem heen, ze keren terug tot het stof, En het is met hun plannen gedaan.

His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

5 Gelukkig, wien de God van Jakob blijft helpen, Wiens hoop is gevestigd op Jahweh, zijn God:

Happy [is he] that [hath] the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope [is] in the LORD his God:

6 Die hemel en aarde heeft gemaakt, De zee met wat ze bevat. Jahweh, die trouw blijft voor eeuwig,

Who made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that [is] in them: who keepeth truth for ever:

7 De verdrukten verdedigt, Brood aan de hongerigen reikt, En de gevangenen bevrijdt!

Who executeth judgment for the oppressed: who giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

8 Jahweh opent de ogen der blinden, Jahweh richt de gebukten weer op; Jahweh heeft de rechtvaardigen lief,

The LORD openeth [the eyes of] the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

9 Jahweh draagt zorg voor de zwervers. Hij is een steun voor weduwen en wezen, Maar de bozen richt Hij te gronde:

The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10 Jahweh is Koning voor eeuwig; Uw God, o Sion, van geslacht tot geslacht!

The LORD will reign for ever, [even] thy God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise ye the LORD.
