Psalmen 135
1 Halleluja! Looft Jahweh’s Naam, Looft Hem, dienaars van Jahweh:
Praise ye Yah, Praise ye the Name of Yahweh, Praise, O ye servants of Yahweh;
2 Gij, die in het huis van Jahweh staat, In de voorhoven van het huis van onzen God!
Who stand In the house of Yahweh, In the courts of the house of our God.
3 Looft Jahweh: want Jahweh is goed, Verheerlijkt zijn Naam: want die is zo lieflijk;
Praise ye Yah, For good is Yahweh, Sing praises to his Name, For it is full of delight;
4 Want Jahweh heeft Zich Jakob verkoren, En Israël tot zijn bezit!
For, Jacob, hath Yah chosen for himself, Israel, for his own treasure.
5 Ja, ik weet het: Jahweh is groot, Onze Heer boven alle goden verheven;
For, I, know that great is Yahweh, yea, our Lord, is beyond all gods.
6 Jahweh doet wat Hij wil In hemel en aarde, in zeeën en diepten.
Whatsoever Yahweh hath pleased, he hath done, —in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas, and all resounding deeps:
7 Hij laat de wolken verrijzen Aan de kimmen der aarde; Smeedt de bliksem tot regen, Haalt de wind uit zijn schuren.
Causing vapours to ascend from the end of the earth, —Lightnings for the rain, hath he made, bringing forth wind out of his treasuries.
8 Hij was het, die Egypte’s eerstgeborenen sloeg, Van mensen en vee;
Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man, and of beast;
9 Die tekenen en wonderen deed in uw midden, Egypte, Tegen Farao en al die hem dienden;
Sent signs and wonders into thy midst, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
10 Die talrijke volken versloeg, En machtige koningen doodde:
Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings:
11 Sichon, den vorst der Amorieten, En Og, den koning van Basjan. Hij was het, die alle vorsten vernielde En alle koninkrijken van Kanaän;
Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan;
12 En die hun land ten erfdeel gaf, Tot bezit aan Israël, zijn volk.
And gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel his people.
13 Uw Naam duurt eeuwig, o Jahweh, Uw roem, o Jahweh, van geslacht tot geslacht;
O Yahweh! thy Name, is age-abiding, —O Yahweh! thy memorial, is to generation after generation.
14 Want Jahweh schaft recht aan zijn volk, En ontfermt Zich over zijn dienaars.
For Yahweh will vindicate his people, —and, on his servants, have compassion.
15 Maar de goden der volken zijn zilver en goud, Door mensenhanden gemaakt:
The idols of the nations, are silver and gold, the work of the hands of men:
16 Ze hebben een mond, maar kunnen niet spreken; Ogen, maar kunnen niet zien;
A mouth, have they, but they speak not, Eyes, have they, but they see not;
17 Oren, maar kunnen niet horen; Ze hebben geen adem in hun mond.
Ears, have they, but they hear not, Nose, —there is no breath in their mouth.
18 Aan hen worden gelijk, die ze maken, En allen, die er op hopen!
Like unto them, shall be they who make them, every one who trusteth in them.
19 Huis van Israël, zegent dan Jahweh; Huis van Aäron, zegent dan Jahweh;
O house of Israel! bless Yahweh, O house of Aaron! bless Yahweh;
20 Huis van Levi, zegent dan Jahweh; Die Jahweh vrezen, zegent dan Jahweh;
O house of Levi! bless Yahweh, Ye that revere Yahweh! bless Yahweh.
21 Gezegend zij Jahweh uit Sion, Hij, die in Jerusalem woont!
Blessed be Yahweh out of Zion, Who inhabiteth Jerusalem, Praise ye Yah!
