Psalmen 120

1 Een bedevaartslied. Tot Jahweh riep ik in mijn nood, En Hij heeft mij verhoord.

A Song of Ascents. In my distress I called unto the LORD, and He answered me.

2 Verlos mij, Jahweh, van leugenlippen En lastertongen!

O LORD, deliver my soul from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

3 Wat kan een lastertong u al brengen, En wat er nog bij doen:

What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, thou deceitful tongue?

4 Scherpgepunte oorlogspijlen, Met gloeiende houtskool!

Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of broom.

5 Wee mij, dat ik moet toeven In de tenten van Mésjek, En dat ik moet wonen In de tenten van Kedar!

Woe is me, that I sojourn with Meshech, that I dwell beside the tents of Kedar!

6 Reeds te lang leef ik samen Met vredeverstoorders;

My soul hath full long had her dwelling with him that hateth peace.

7 Als ìk over vrede wil spreken, Zoeken zij strijd!

I am all peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
