Psalmen 112
1 Halleluja! Heil den man, die Jahweh vreest, En zijn geboden van harte bemint:
Praise Yahweh! (Happy are/He is pleased with) those who revere him, those who happily obey his commands.
2 Zijn kroost zal machtig op aarde zijn, Het geslacht der vromen zal worden gezegend.
Their children will prosper in their land; and their descendants will be blessed [by God].
3 Welvaart en rijkdom bewonen zijn huis, En zijn gerechtigheid houdt in eeuwigheid stand;
Their families [MTY] will be very wealthy [DOU], and [the results of] their righteous deeds will endure forever.
4 De vromen gaat een licht in de duisternis op, Hem, die genadig, barmhartig en rechtvaardig zal zijn.
Godly/Righteous people are [like] lights [SIM] that shine in the darkness on those who are kind, merciful and righteous.
5 Heil den man, die weggeeft en leent, En zijn zaken beheert volgens recht;
Things [will] go well for those who generously lend money to others and who conduct their businesses honestly.
6 Want in eeuwigheid zal de rechtvaardige niet wankelen, En hij blijft in de herinnering voor eeuwig.
Righteous people will not be overwhelmed/worried/distressed [because of their troubles], and they will never be forgotten [by other people].
7 Voor kwade geruchten is hij niet bang; Zijn hart blijft rotsvast op Jahweh vertrouwen,
They are not afraid of [receiving] bad news; they confidently/completely trust in Yahweh.
8 Onverstoorbaar, onbevreesd, Totdat hij op zijn vijanden neerziet.
They are confident and not afraid, because they know that they will see [God defeat] their enemies.
9 Milddadig deelt hij aan de armen uit: Zijn gerechtigheid houdt in eeuwigheid stand, En zijn hoorn verheft zich in ere.
They give things generously to poor/needy [people]; [the results of] their kind deeds will endure forever, and they [will] be exalted and honored.
10 De boze ziet het vol afgunst, En knarsetandend gaat hij te gronde: Nooit wordt de wens der bozen vervuld!
Wicked people see those things and are angry; they gnash their teeth [angrily], but they [will] disappear [and die]. The [wicked] things that they want to do [will] never happen.
