Numeri 34
1 Jahweh sprak tot Moses:
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
2 Beveel de Israëlieten, en zeg hun: Wanneer ge in het land Kanaän komt, dan zullen dit de grenzen zijn van het land Kanaän, dat uw erfdeel is.
“Command the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you are coming into the land of Canaan—this [is] the land which falls to you by inheritance, the land of Canaan, by its borders—
3 De zuidgrens zal lopen van de woestijn Sin langs Edom, en in het oosten beginnen bij het einde van de Zoutzee.
then the south quarter has been to you from the wilderness of Zin, by the sides of Edom, indeed, the south border has been to you from the extremity of the Salt Sea eastward;
4 Dan zal de grens zich ten zuiden bij de pas van Akrabbim ombuigen, doorlopen tot Sin, en Kadesj-Barnéa zal haar meest zuidelijke punt vormen. Vandaar zal zij zich uitstrekken tot Chasar-Addar en doorlopen tot Asmon.
and the border has turned around to you from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and has passed on to Zin, and its outgoings have been from the south to Kadesh-Barnea, and it has gone out at Hazar-Addar, and has passed on to Azmon;
5 Van Asmon zal de grens ombuigen naar de beek van Egypte, en haar eindpunt zal de zee zijn.
and the border has turned around from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and its outgoings have been at the sea.
6 Wat nu de westgrens betreft, zo dient de Grote Zee tegelijk als grens; die vormt uw westgrens.
As for the west border, even the Great Sea has been a border to you; this is the west border to you.
7 Dit zal voor u de noordelijke grens zijn: Van de Grote Zee af moet ge de grenslijn trekken naar de berg Hor,
And this is the north border to you: from the Great Sea you mark out for yourselves Mount Hor;
8 en van de berg Hor ze doortrekken tot bij Chamat, met Sedad als haar uiterste punt.
from Mount Hor you mark out to go to Hamath, and the outgoings of the border have been to Zedad;
9 Vandaar zal de grens doorlopen naar Zifron met Chasar-Enan als eindpunt. Dit zal uw noordgrens zijn.
and the border has gone out to Ziphron, and its outgoings have been at Hazar-Enan; this is the north border to you.
10 Uw oostgrens zult ge trekken van Chasar-Enan naar Sjefam.
And you have marked out for yourselves for the border eastward, from Hazar-Enan to Shepham;
11 Van Sjefam zal de grens afdalen naar Ribla, ten oosten van Ain, en verder uitlopen op de bergrug ten oosten van het meer van Gennezaret.
and the border has gone down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east of Ain, and the border has gone down, and has struck against the shoulder of the Sea of Chinnereth eastward;
12 Dan daalt de grens af naar de Jordaan, en loopt uit op de Zoutzee. Dit zal uw land zijn met zijn grenzen rondom.
and the border has gone down to the Jordan, and its outgoings have been at the Salt Sea; this is the land for you by its borders all around.”
13 Moses beval de Israëlieten, en zeide: Dit is het land, dat gij door loting moet verdelen, daar Jahweh bevolen heeft, het aan de negen en halve stam te geven.
And Moses commands the sons of Israel, saying, “This [is] the land which you inherit by lot, which YHWH has commanded to give to the nine tribes and the half of the tribe;
14 Want de families van de stam der Rubenieten en Gadieten en die van de halve stam van Manasse hebben hun erfdeel al ontvangen.
for the tribe of the sons of Reuben, by the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad, by the house of their fathers, have received [their inheritance]; and [those of] the half of the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance;
15 De twee en een halve stam hebben hun aandeel ontvangen aan de overzijde van de Jordaan bij Jericho, dus aan de oostkant.
the two tribes and the half of the tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan, [near] Jericho, eastward, at the [sun]-rising.”
16 En Jahweh sprak tot Moses:
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
17 De volgende mannen moeten het land onder u verdelen: De priester Elazar en Josuë, de zoon van Noen;
“These [are] the names of the men who give the inheritance of the land to you: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
18 verder moet gij uit iedere stam één stamhoofd nemen, om het land te verdelen.
And one prince—you take one prince from a tribe to give the land by inheritance.
19 Dit zijn de namen van die mannen: Van de stam Juda Kaleb, de zoon van Jefoenne;
And these [are] the names of the men: of the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;
20 van de stam der Simeonieten Sjemoeël, de zoon van Ammihoed;
and of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Shemuel son of Aminihud;
21 van de stam Benjamin Elidad, de zoon van Kislon;
of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Chislon;
22 van de stam der Danieten het stamhoofd Boekki, de zoon van Jogli;
and a prince of the tribe of the sons of Dan, Bukki son of Jogli;
23 van de zonen van Josef, van de stam der Manassieten het stamhoofd Channiël, de zoon van Efod,
of the sons of Joseph, a prince of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, Hanniel son of Ephod;
24 en van de stam der Efraïmieten het stamhoofd Kemoeël, de zoon van Sjiftan;
and a prince of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, Kemuel son of Shiphtan;
25 van de stam der Zabulonieten het stamhoofd Elisafan, de zoon van Parnak;
and a prince of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, Elizaphan son of Parnach;
26 van de stam der Issakarieten het stamhoofd Paltiël, de zoon van Azzan;
and a prince of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, Paltiel son of Azzan;
27 van de stam der Aserieten het stamhoofd Achihoed, de zoon van Sjelomi;
and a prince of the tribe of the sons of Asher, Ahihud son of Shelomi;
28 van de stam der Neftalieten het stamhoofd Pedaël, de zoon van Ammihoed.
and a prince of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, Pedahel son of Ammihud.”
29 Aan hen gaf Jahweh bevel het land Kanaän onder de kinderen Israëls te verdelen.
These [are] those whom YHWH has commanded to give the sons of Israel inheritance in the land of Canaan.
