1 Jahweh sprak tot Moses en Aäron:
Then spake Yahweh onto Moses and onto Aaron saying:
2 De Israëlieten moeten zich onder hun eigen banier en bij de veldtekens van hun familie scharen, en zich op enige afstand rond de openbaringstent legeren.
Every man—near his standard with the ensigns belonging to their ancestral houses, shall the sons of Israel encamp, —at a distance round about the tent of meeting, shall they encamp.
3 Zo werd aan de oostkant, waar de zon opkomt, de banier geplant van het leger van Juda, naar zijn afdelingen ingedeeld; de aanvoerder der Judeërs was Naässon, de zoon van Amminadab,
And they who encamp eastwards towards sunrise, shall be the standard of the camp of Judah by their hosts, —even the prince of the sons of Judah, Nashon, son of Amminadab;
4 en zijn afdeling telde vier en zeventig duizend zeshonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —seventy-four thousand and six hundred,
5 Daarnaast legerde zich de stam van Issakar; de aanvoerder der Issakarieten was Netanel, de zoon van Soear,
Then they who encamp by him the tribe of Issachar, —even the prince of the sons of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;
6 en zijn afdeling telde vier en vijftig duizend vierhonderd man.
and his host even they who are numbered of them, —fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
7 Bovendien de stam van Zabulon; de aanvoerder der Zabulonieten was Eliab, de zoon van Chelon,
The tribe of Zebulun, even the prince of the sons of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon;
8 en zijn afdeling telde zeven en vijftig duizend vierhonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of him, fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
9 Het hele aantal manschappen van het leger van Juda, ingedeeld naar hun afdelingen, bedroeg honderd zes en tachtig duizend vierhonderd man. Zij trokken het eerst op.
All they who are num-bered to the camp of Judah. a hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred, by their hosts, shall first set forward.
10 De banier van het leger van Ruben, naar zijn afdelingen ingedeeld, werd in het zuiden geplant; de aanvoerder der Rubenieten was Elisoer, de zoon van Sjedeoer,
The standard of the camp of Reuben southwards, by their hosts, —even the prince of the sons of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
11 en zijn afdeling telde zes en veertig duizend vijfhonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of him, —forty-six thousand, and five hundred.
12 Daarnaast legerde zich de stam van Simeon; de aanvoerder der Simeonieten was Sjeloemiël, de zoon van Soerisjaddai,
Then they who encamp by him, the tribe of Simeon, —even the prince of the sons of Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
13 en zijn afdeling telde negen en vijftig duizend drie honderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
14 Bovendien de stam van Gad; de aanvoerder der Gadieten was Eljasaf, de zoon van Deoeël;
Then the tribe of Gad, even the prince of the sons of Gad, Eliasaph son of Reuel;
15 en zijn afdeling telde vijf en veertig duizend zeshonderd vijftig man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —forty-five thousand, and six hundred and fifty.
16 Het hele aantal manschappen van het leger van Ruben, ingedeeld naar hun afdelingen, bedroeg honderd een en vijftig duizend vierhonderd vijftig man. Zij trokken het tweede op.
All they who are num-bered to the camp of Reuben, —a hundred and fifty-one thousand and four hundred and fifty, by their hosts, and they in the second rank, shall set forward.
17 Dan trok de openbaringstent op met het leger der Levieten, dat zich in het midden der andere legers bevond; zoals ze gelegerd waren, trokken ze op: ieder op zijn plaats en onder zijn eigen banier.
Then shall set forward the tent of meeting—the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps, —as they encamp, so, shall they set forward, every man at the side thereof by their standards.
18 De banier van het leger van Efraïm, naar zijn afdelingen ingedeeld, werd in het westen geplant; de aanvoerder der Efraïmieten was Elisjama, de zoon van Ammihoed,
the standard of the camp of Ephraim, by their hosts westwards, —even the prince of the sons of Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud;
19 en zijn afdeling telde veertig duizend vijfhonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —forty thousand, and five hundred.
20 Daarnaast legerde zich de stam van Manasse; de aanvoerder der Manassieten was Gamliël, de zoon van Pedasoer,
Then by him, the tribe of Manasseh, even the prince of the sons of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;
21 en zijn afdeling telde twee en dertig duizend tweehonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —thirty-two thousand and two hundred.
22 Bovendien de stam van Benjamin; de aanvoerder der Benjamieten was Abidan, de zoon van Gidoni,
Then the tribe of Benjamin, even the prince of the sons of Benjamin, Abidan, son of Gideoni;
23 en zijn afdeling telde vijf en dertig duizend vierhonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
24 Het hele aantal manschappen van het leger van Efraïm, ingedeeld naar hun afdelingen, bedroeg honderd acht duizend en honderd man. Zij trokken het derde op.
All they who are numbered to the camp of Ephraim a hundred and eight thousand and one hundred by their hosts, and they in the third rank, shall set forward.
25 De banier van het leger van Dan, naar zijn legerafdelingen ingedeeld, werd aan de noordzijde geplant; de aanvoerder der Danieten was Achiézer, de zoon van Ammisjaddai,
the standard of the camp of Dan, north-wards by their hosts, even the prince of the sons of Dan, Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai:
26 en zijn afdeling telde twee en zestig duizend zeven honderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.
27 Daarnaast legerde zich de stam van Aser; de aanvoerder der Aserieten was Pagiël, de zoon van Okran,
Then they who encamp by him the tribe of Asher, —even the prince of the sons of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ochran;
28 en zijn afdeling telde een en veertig duizend vijfhonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —forty-one thousand and five hundred.
29 Bovendien de stam van Neftali; de aanvoerder der Neftalieten was Achira, de zoon van Enan,
Then the tribe of Naphtali, —even the prince of the sons of Naphtali, Ahira, son of Enan;
30 en zijn afdeling telde drie en vijftig duizend vierhonderd man.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —fifty-three thousand and four hundred,
31 Het hele aantal manschappen van het leger van Dan bedroeg honderd zeven en vijftig duizend zeshonderd man. Zij trokken met hun banieren het laatste op.
All they who are numbered to the camp of Dan, a hundred and fifty-seven thousand and six hundred, in the hindmost rank, shall they set forward, by their standards.
32 Dit waren de gemonsterden van de Israëlieten naar hun families. Het volledig aantal manschappen van de legers, ingedeeld naar hun afdelingen, bedroeg zeshonderd drieduizend vijfhonderd vijftig man.
These, are they who were numbered of the sons of Israel by their ancestral houses, —all they who were numbered of the camps by their hosts were six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
33 Maar de Levieten werden niet met de andere Israëlieten op de lijst geplaatst, zoals Jahweh het Moses bevolen had.
But the Levites, were not numbered in the midst of the sons of Israel, —As Yahweh commanded Moses.
34 De kinderen Israëls brachten dus alles ten uitvoer, wat Jahweh Moses bevolen had; zij legerden zich onder hun banieren, en trokken op met hun eigen geslachten en bij hun eigen families.
Thus did the sons of Israel, —according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so, did they encamp by their standards, and so, did they set forward, every one by his families near his ancestral house.
