Nehemia 3

1 Toen begonnen Eljasjib, de hogepriester, met zijn medepriesters het werk. Ze bouwden de Schaapspoort, wijdden haar in, en plaatsten er de deuren in; ze bouwden tot aan de toren Mea, en vervolgens tot de Chananel-toren.

Then arose Eliashib the high priest and his brethren the priests, and built the sheep-gate, they, hallowed it, and set up the doors thereof, —even unto the tower of Hammeah, hallowed they it, unto the tower of Hananel;

2 Naast hen bouwden de burgers van Jericho, en daarnaast bouwde Zakkoer, de zoon van Imri.

and, at his hand, built, the men of Jericho, —and at his [other] hand built Zaccur, son of Imri.

3 De Vispoort bouwden de zonen van Senaä; ze overkapten haar, en voorzagen haar van deuren, sluitbomen en grendels.

And, the fish-gate, did the sons of Hassenaah build, —they, laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof;

4 Naast hen bouwde Meremot, de zoon van Oeri-ja, zoon van Hakkos; naast hem Mesjoellam, de zoon van Berekja, zoon van Mesjezabel; daarnaast Sadok, de zoon van Baäna.

and, at their hand, repaired, Meremoth son of Uriah son of Hakkoz, and, at their hand, repaired, Meshullum son of Berechiah son of Meshezabel, —and, at their hand, repaired, Zadok son of Baana;

5 Naast hen bouwden burgers van Tekóa; maar hun edelen zetten hun schouders niet onder het werk van hun Heer.

and, at their hand, repaired, the Tekoites, —but, their chiefs, put not their neck into the service of their lords.

6 De Oude Poort bouwden Jojada, de zoon van Paséach, en Mesjoellam, de zoon van Besodeja; ze overkapten haar, en voorzagen haar van deuren, sluitbomen en grendels.

And, the old gate, did Joiada son of Paseah, and Meshullam, son of Besodeiah, repair, —they, laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof;

7 Naast hen bouwden Melatja, de Giboniet, en Jadon, de Meronotiet, burgers van Gibon en Mispa, tot aan het paleis van den stadhouder aan de overzijde van de Rivier.

and, at their hand, repaired, Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, —who pertained to the throne of the pasha Beyond the River;

8 Naast hen bouwde de goudsmid Oezziël, de zoon van Charhaja, en daarnaast Chananja, de balsembereider; zij herstelden Jerusalem tot aan de Brede Muur.

at his hand, repaired, Uzziel son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, and, at his hand, repaired Hananiah son of the perfumers, —and they fortified Jerusalem, as far as the broad wall;

9 Naast hen bouwde Refaja, de zoon van Choer en overste van het halve distrikt Jerusalem.

and, at their hand, repaired, Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of a half-circuit of Jerusalem;

10 Naast hem bouwde Jedaja, de zoon van Charoemaf, tegenover zijn huis; daarnaast Chattoesj, de zoon van Chasjabneja.

and, at their hand, repaired, Jedaiah son of Harumaph, even over against his own house, —and, at his hand, repaired, Hattush, son of Hashabneiah;

11 Het tweede gedeelte met de Bakoven-toren bouwden Malki-ja, de zoon van Charim, en Chassjoeb, de zoon van Pachat-Moab.

a second length, did Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-moab, repair, —also the tower of the ovens;

12 Naast hen bouwde Sjalloem, de zoon van Hallochesj en overste van het halve distrikt Jerusalem, met zijn dochters.

and, at his hand, repaired, Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-circuit of Jerusalem, —he and his daughters.

13 De Dalpoort bouwde Chanoen met de burgers van Zanóach; ze trokken haar op, en voorzagen haar van deuren, sluitbomen en grendels; bovendien bouwden zij duizend el van de muur tot aan de Aspoort.

The valley-gate, did Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah, repair, —they, built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, —also a thousand cubits in the wall, as far as the dung-gate.

14 De Aspoort bouwde Malki-ja, de zoon van Rekab en overste van het distrikt Bet-Hakkérem; hij trok haar op, en voorzag haar van deuren, sluitbomen en grendels.

And, the dung-gate, did Malchijah son of Rechab, ruler of the circuit of Beth-haccherem, repair, —he, built it, and set up the doors thereof, he locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

15 De Bronpoort bouwde Sjalloem, de zoon van Kol-Choze en overste van het distrikt Mispa; hij trok haar op overkapte haar, en voorzag haar van deuren, sluitbomen en grendels; bovendien bouwde hij de muur bij de vijvers van de waterleiding bij de koningstuin tot aan de trappen, die van de Stad van David omlaag gaan.

And, the fountain-gate, did Shallun son of Col-hozeh ruler of the circuit of Mizpah, repair, he, built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, —also the wall of the pool of Shelah, by the garden of the king, even as far as the stairs that go down from the city of David;

16 Vervolgens bouwde Nechemja, de zoon van Azboek en overste van het halve distrikt Bet-Soer, tot het punt tegenover de graven van David, en tegenover de kunstmatige vijver en de kazerne der soldaten.

after him, repaired, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of the half-circuit of Beth-zur, —as far as over against the sepulchres of David, even unto the pool which had been made, and unto the house of heroes;

17 Vervolgens bouwden de levieten Rechoem, de zoon van Bani, en naast hem Chasjabja, de overste van het halve distrikt Keïla, voor rekening van zijn distrikt.

after him, repaired, the Levites, Rehum son of Bani, —at his hand, repaired, Hashabiah, ruler of the half-circuit of Keilah, for his circuit;

18 Daarna bouwde zijn ambtgenoot Bawwai, de zoon van Chenadad en overste van het halve distrikt Keïla.

after him, repaired, their brethren, Bavvai son of Henadad, —ruler of the [other] half-circuit of Keilah;

19 Naast hem bouwde Ézer, de zoon van Jesjóea en overste van Mispa, een tweede gedeelte, namelijk de hoek tegenover de opgang naar het arsenaal.

and there repaired at his hand, Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, a second length, —over against the ascent of the armoury, at the corner;

20 Vervolgens bouwde Baroek, de zoon van Zabbai, een ander stuk, van de hoek af tot waar het huis van den hogepriester Eljasjib begint.

after him, zealously repaired Baruch son of Zabbai, a second length, —from the corner, unto the opening of the house of Eliashib, the high priest;

21 Daarna bouwde Meremot, de zoon van Oeri-ja, zoon van Hakkos, een ander gedeelte, van het punt af, waar het huis van Eljasjib begint, tot aan het eind van diens huis.

after him, repaired, Meremoth son of Uriah son of Hakkoz, a second length, —from the opening of the house of Eliashib, even unto the end of the house of Eliashib;

22 Vervolgens bouwden de priesters, die daar in de buurt woonden;

and, after him, repaired, the priests, the men of the Circuit;

23 daarna Binjamin en Chassjoeb tegenover hun huis; dan Azarja, de zoon van Maäseja, zoon van Ananja, in de buurt van zijn huis.

after him, repaired, Benjamin and Hasshub, over against their own house, —after him, repaired, Azariah son of Maaseiah son of Ananiah, beside his own house;

24 Vervolgens bouwde Binnoej, de zoon van Chenadad, een ander gedeelte van het huis van Azarja af tot aan de hoek van het terras;

after him, repaired, Binnui son of Henadad, a second length, —from the house of Azariah, unto the corner, even unto the pinnacle:

25 daarnaast Palal, de zoon van Oezai, tegenover de hoek en de hoge toren, die uitspringt van het koninklijk paleis bij de gevangenhof; dan Pedaja, de zoon van Parosj;

Palal, son of Uzai, from over against the corner, and the tower that projecteth from the upper house of the king, which belongeth to the court of custody, —after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh.

26 daarna de tempelknechten, die op de Ofel woonden, tot het punt tegenover de oostelijke Waterpoort en de vooruitspringende toren.

Now, the Nethinim, were dwelling in Ophel, —as far as over against the water-gate, on the east, and the tower that projecteth;

27 Vervolgens bouwden burgers van Tekóa het tweede gedeelte van het punt af tegenover de grote vooruitspringende toren tot aan de muur van de Ofel.

after him, repaired, the Tekoites, a second length, —from over against the great tower that projecteth, even unto the wall of Ophel:

28 Van de Paardenpoort af bouwden de priesters, iedereen tegenover zijn eigen huis.

from beside the horse-gate, repaired the priests, every one over against his own house;

29 Vervolgens bouwde Sadok, de zoon van Immer, tegenover zijn huis; daarna Sjemaja, de zoon van Sjekanja en bewaker van de Oostpoort.

after him, repaired, Zadok son of Immer, over against his own house, —and, after him, repaired, Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, keeper of the east-gate;

30 Vervolgens bouwden Chananja, de zoon van Sjelemja, en Chanoen, de zesde zoon van Salaf, een ander gedeelte; daarna Mesjoellam, de zoon van Berekja, tegenover zijn kamer.

after him, repaired, Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph, a second length, —after him, repaired, Meshullam son of Berechiah, over against his chamber;

31 Vervolgens bouwde de goudsmid Malki-ja tot aan het huis van de tempelknechten en dat van de handelaars tegenover de Wachtpoort en tot aan de bovenbouw van het terras.

after him, repaired, Malchijah son of Zorphi, as far as the house of the Nethinim, and the traders, —over against the muster-gate, even unto the ascent of the pinnacle;

32 Tussen de bovenbouw van het terras tot aan de Schaapspoort bouwden de goudsmeden en de handelaars.

and, between the ascent of the pinnacle and the sheep-gate, repaired, the goldsmiths, and the traders.
