Lukas 10
1 Daarna stelde de Heer nog twee en zeventig anderen aan, en zond ze twee aan twee voor Zich uit naar elke stad of plaats, waar Hij zelf naar toe wilde gaan.
And, after these things, the Lord appointed seventy two others, and sent them forth, two and two before his face, into every city and place whither, he himself, was about to come.
2 En Hij sprak tot hen: De oogst is groot, maar werklieden zijn er weinig. Vraagt dus den Heer van de oogst, dat Hij werklieden zendt in zijn oogst. —
And he was saying unto them—The harvest, indeed, is, great, but, the labourers, few; beg ye, therefore, of the Lord of the harvest, that he would thrust forth, labourers, into his harvest.
3 Gaat heen; zie, Ik zend u als lammeren midden onder de wolven.
Withdraw! Lo! I send you forth as lambs amid wolves.
4 Draagt geen beurs mee, geen reiszak, geen schoenen; en groet niemand onderweg. —
Be not carrying purse, or satchel, or sandals, and, no one along the road, salute ye;
5 Wanneer gij een huis binnenkomt, zegt dan eerst: Vrede aan dit huis!
And, into whatsoever house ye enter, First, say, Peace to this house!
6 En als daar een kind van de vrede woont, zal uw vrede op hem rusten; zo niet, dan keert hij terug op u.
And, if the son of peace be, there, your peace, shall rest upon it; but, otherwise, at least, unto you, shall it return.
7 Blijft in dat huis; eet en drinkt wat men er heeft; want de arbeider heeft recht op zijn loon. Gaat niet van het ene huis naar het andere. —
And, in the self-same house, abide ye, eating and drinking such things as they have; for, worthy, is the labourer, of his hire: be not removing from house to house.
8 En in welke stad gij ook komt, waar men u ontvangt, eet wat u wordt voorgezet;
And, into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they bid you welcome, be eating such things as are set before you;
9 geneest de zieken die er zijn, en zegt hun: Het koninkrijk Gods is nabij.
And be curing the sick that are, therein, and be saying unto them—The kingdom of God hath drawn nigh upon you.
10 Maar als gij in een stad komt, waar men u niet ontvangt, gaat uit op haar pleinen, en zegt:
But, into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they do not welcome you, going forth into the broadways thereof, say ye:
11 Zelfs het stof uwer stad, dat aan onze voeten kleeft, schudden we tegen u af; toch moet gij weten: het koninkrijk Gods is nabij.
Even the dust that cleaveth unto us, out of your city, unto our feet, do we wipe off against you; nevertheless, of this, be taking notice—The kingdom of God hath drawn near.
12 Ik zeg u: Voor Sódoma zal het dragelijker zijn op die dag dan voor die stad. —
I tell you, for them of Sodom, in that day, more tolerable, will it be, than for that city.
13 Wee u, Korazin, wee u, Betsáida; want zo in Tyrus en Sidon de wonderen waren gebeurd, die in u zijn geschied, dan zouden ze reeds lang in zak en as zijn gezeten, en boete hebben gedaan.
Alas for thee, Chorazin! Alas for thee, Bethsaida! Because, if, in Tyre and Zidon, had been done the works of power which have been down in you, of old, in sackcloth and ashes sitting, they would have repented.
14 Voor Tyrus en Sidon zal het dragelijker zijn in het oordeel dan voor u.
Moreover, for Tyre and Zidon, more tolerable, will it be, in the judgment, than, for you.
15 En gij Kafárnaum, zult ge tot de hemel toe worden verheven? Tot in de hel zult ge neerzinken. — (Hadēs g86)
And, thou, Capernaum, —Unto heaven, shalt thou be uplifted? …Unto hades, thou shalt be brought down! (Hadēs g86)
16 Wie u hoort, hoort Mij, en wie u versmaadt, versmaadt Mij; maar wie Mij versmaadt, versmaadt Hem die Mij heeft gezonden.
He that hearkeneth unto you, unto me, doth hearken, and, he that setteth you aside, doth set, me, aside; and, he that setteth, me, aside, doth set aside, him that sent me.
17 Toen de twee en zeventig waren teruggekeerd, zeiden ze verheugd: Heer, zelfs de duivels zijn ons onderworpen in uw Naam.
And the seventy [-two] returned, with joy, saying—Lord! even the demons, submit themselves unto us, in thy name!
18 Hij sprak tot hen: Ik zag satan als een bliksemstraal uit de hemel vallen.
And he said unto them—I was beholding Satan, when, like lightning, out of heaven, he fell!
19 Zie, Ik heb u de macht gegeven, om op slangen en schorpioenen te trappen, en macht over heel de kracht van den vijand: niets zal u deren.
Lo! I have given you the authority—to be treading upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and, nothing, unto you, shall in anywise do harm;
20 Maar verheugt u niet, omdat de duivels u onderworpen zijn; verheugt u, omdat uw namen opgeschreven staan in de hemel.
Notwithstanding, in this, be not rejoicing—that, the spirits, unto you submit themselves; but be rejoicing—that, your names, are inscribed in the heavens!
21 Toen jubelde Hij het uit in den Heiligen Geest, en sprak: Ik dank U, Vader, Heer van hemel en aarde, omdat Gij deze dingen voor wijzen en verstandigen hebt verborgen, en aan kleinen geopenbaard. Ja, Vader, zó is uw welbehagen geweest.
In the self-same hour, exulted he in the Holy Spirit, and said—I openly give praise unto thee, Father! Lord of heaven and earth! in that thou hast hid these things from the wise and discerning, and hast revealed them unto babes, —Yea, O Father! that, so, hath it become, a delight, before thee.
22 Alles is Mij door mijn Vader in handen gegeven; en niemand weet, wie de Zoon is, dan de Vader alleen; of wie de Vader is, dan de Zoon alleen, en hij, wien de Zoon het openbaren wil.
All things, unto me, have been delivered up by my Father; and, no one, knoweth, who the Son is, save the Father, —and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son may be minded to reveal him.
23 Nu wendde Hij Zich tot zijn leerlingen alleen, en sprak: Zalig de ogen, die zien wat gij ziet.
And, turning unto his disciples, privately, he said—Happy, the eyes, that see what ye see!
24 Ik zeg u: Vele profeten en koningen wensten te zien wat gij ziet, en ze zagen het niet; te horen wat gij hoort, en ze hoorden het niet.
For I tell you, Many prophets and kings, have desired to see what, ye, see, and they saw not, and to hear what ye hear, and they heard not.
25 En zie, een wetgeleerde stond op, om Hem op de proef te stellen, en sprak: Meester, wat moet ik doen, om het eeuwige leven te verkrijgen? (aiōnios g166)
And lo! a certain lawyer, arose, putting him to the test, saying—Teacher! by doing what, shall I inherit, life age-abiding? (aiōnios g166)
26 Hij zei hem: Wat staat er in de Wet geschreven; wat leest ge daar?
And, he, said unto him—In the law, what is written? how dost thou read?
27 Hij antwoordde: Gij zult den Heer uw God beminnen met heel uw hart, met heel uw ziel, met heel uw kracht, en met heel uw verstand: en uw naaste als uzelf.
And, he, answering, said—Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, out of all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might, and with all thine intention; and thy neighbour, as thyself?
28 Hij zei hem: Ge hebt goed geantwoord; doe dit en ge zult leven.
And he said unto him—Rightly, hast thou answered: This, do, and thou shalt live.
29 Maar daar hij de schijn wilde redden, sprak hij tot Jesus: En wie is mijn naaste?
But, he, wishing to justify himself, said unto Jesus—And, who is, my, neighbour?
30 Jesus hernam, en sprak: Eens reisde een man van Jerusalem naar Jericho, en viel in handen van rovers; ze schudden hem uit, verwondden hem vreselijk, en lieten hem half dood achter.
And taking up [the question], Jesus said—A certain man, was going down from Jerusalem unto Jericho, and, with robbers, fell in, —who, stripping him, and inflicting, wounds, upon him, departed, leaving him, half dead.
31 Toevallig kwam een priester die weg langs; hij zag hem, en ging voorbij.
And, by chance, a certain priest, was coming down by that road, and, seeing him, passed by, on the opposite side.
32 Ook een leviet kwam er langs; hij zag hem, en ging voorbij.
And, in like manner, a Levite also, coming down to the place, and seeing him, passed by, on the opposite side.
33 Maar ook een Samaritaan, die op reis was, kwam voorbij; hij zag hem, en kreeg medelijden.
But, a certain Samaritan, going on his journey, came down to him, and, seeing him, was moved with compassion;
34 Hij ging er naar toe, verbond zijn wonden, en goot er olie en wijn op; daarna hief hij hem op zijn eigen lastdier, bracht hem naar een herberg, en zorgde voor hem.
and, coming near, bound up his bruises, pouring thereon oil and wine, —and, setting him on his own beast, brought him into an inn, and took care of him.
35 De volgende dag nam hij twee tienlingen, gaf ze den waard, en zeide: Blijf voor hem zorgen; en wat ge er meer aan besteedt, zal ik u bij mijn terugkomst vergoeden.
And, on the morrow, throwing out two denaries, he gave them to the inn-keeper, and said—Take care of him, and, whatsoever thou shall further spend, I, when on my way back, will duly pay thee.
36 Wat dunkt u; wie van de drie is de naaste geweest van hem, die in de handen der rovers viel?
Which of these three, seemeth unto thee to have become, neighbour, unto him who fell among the robbers?
37 Hij sprak: Hij, die hem barmhartigheid bewees. En Jesus zeide hem: Ga, en doe gij evenzo.
And, he, said—He who dealt mercifully with him. And Jesus said unto him—Be taking thy journey, and, thou, be doing, in like manner.
38 Op hun reis kwam Hij ook in zeker dorp, waar een vrouw, Marta geheten, Hem in haar huis ontving.
And, as they were journeying, he, entered into a certain village; and, a certain woman, named Martha, welcomed him into her house.
39 Ze had een zuster, Maria genaamd, die mede aan Jesus’ voeten zat, en luisterde naar zijn woord.
And, she, had a sister, called Mary, who also, seating herself at the feet of the Lord, was hearing his word.
40 Maar Marta was druk in de weer met bedienen. Ze kwam er een ogenblik bij staan, en sprak: Heer, is het U onverschillig, dat mijn zuster mij alleen laat bedienen? Zeg haar dus, dat ze me helpt.
But, Martha, was distracted about much ministering, and, coming near, said—Lord! carest thou not that, my sister, hath left me to be ministering, alone? Speak to her, then, that she help me.
41 Maar de Heer gaf haar ten antwoord: Marta, Marta, over veel zijt ge bezorgd en bekommerd.
But the Lord, answering, said to her—Martha! Martha! thou art anxious and troubled about many things:
42 Slechts één ding is noodzakelijk. Maria heeft het beste deel gekozen, dat haar niet zal ontnomen worden.
Of few things, is there need, or, of one; Mary, in fact, hath chosen, the good part, —one which shall not be taken away from her.
