Jeremia 25
1 Dit was het woord, dat in het vierde jaar van Jojakim, den zoon van Josias en koning van Juda, en het eerste jaar van Nabukodonosor, den koning van Babel, tot Jeremias over het hele volk van Juda gericht was,
The word that came to Ieremiah, concerning all the people of Iudah in the fourth yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah that was in the first yeere of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel:
2 en dat de profeet Jeremias voor het hele volk van Juda en al de bewoners van Jerusalem had gesproken:
The which Ieremiah the Prophet spake vnto all the people of Iudah, and to all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, saying,
3 Van het dertiende jaar van Josias, den zoon van Amon en koning van Juda, tot de dag van heden, drie en twintig jaar lang, is het woord van Jahweh tot mij gericht, en heb ik van de vroege morgen tot de late avond tot u gesproken; maar ge hebt niet gehoord.
From the thirteenth yeere of Iosiah the sonne of Amon King of Iudah, euen vnto this day (that is the three and twentieth yeere) the word of the Lord hath come vnto mee, and I haue spoken vnto you rising earely and speaking, but ye woulde not heare.
4 Bovendien heeft Jahweh ‘s morgens vroeg en ‘s avonds laat al zijn dienaars, de profeten, tot u gezonden; maar ge hebt niet gehoord, niet willen luisteren.
And the Lord hath sent vnto you all his seruantes the Prophets, rising early and sending them, but yee would not heare, nor encline your eares to obey.
5 Hij sprak: Bekeert u toch allen van uw boze handel en wandel; dan zult ge voor eeuwig blijven wonen op de grond, die Jahweh u en uw vaders heeft geschonken.
They sayde, Turne againe now euery one from his euill way, and from the wickednes of your inuentions, and ye shall dwell in the lande that the Lord hath giuen vnto you, and to your fathers for euer and euer.
6 Loopt geen vreemde goden na, om ze te dienen en te aanbidden, en tart Mij niet met het werk uwer handen, opdat Ik u geen onheil berokken.
And go not after other gods to serue them and to worshippe them, and prouoke me not to anger with the workes of your hands, and I will not punish you.
7 Maar ge hebt niet willen luisteren, is de godsspraak van Jahweh, en Mij getart met uw maaksels tot uw eigen schade.
Neuerthelesse ye would not heare me, saith the Lord, but haue prouoked mee to anger with the workes of your hands to your owne hurt.
8 Daarom spreekt Jahweh der heirscharen: Omdat ge naar mijn woorden niet hebt geluisterd,
Therefore thus saith the Lord of hostes, Because ye haue not heard my wordes,
9 daarom heb Ik mijn dienaar Nabukodonosor, den koning van Babel, ontboden, en zal Ik alle volksstammen uit het noorden gaan halen, is de godsspraak van Jahweh, om ze los te laten op dit land en zijn bewoners, en op alle omliggende volken. Ik zal ze met de banvloek slaan, en ze tot een afschrik maken, tot een bespotting en eeuwige schande;
Beholde, I will send and take to mee all the families of the North, saith the Lord, and Nebuchad-nezzar the King of Babel my seruant, and will bring them against this lande, and against the inhabitantes thereof, and against all these nations rounde about, and will destroy them, and make them an astonishment and an hissing, and a continuall desolation.
10 Ik zal uit hun midden de tonen van vreugde en blijdschap, de jubel van bruidegom en bruid, het knarsen van de molen en het licht van de lamp doen verdwijnen.
Moreouer I will take from them the voyce of mirth and the voyce of gladnesse, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride, the noise of the milstones, and the light of the candle.
11 Heel dit land zal een puinhoop worden en steppe, en deze volken zullen den koning van Babel dienstbaar worden, zeventig jaar lang.
And this whole land shalbe desolate, and an astonishment, and these nations shall serue the King of Babel seuentie yeeres.
12 Maar als die zeventig jaar zijn verlopen, zal Ik den koning van Babel en dat volk zijn misdaad vergelden, is de godsspraak van Jahweh, het land der Chaldeën gaan straffen, en er een eeuwige steppe van maken.
And when the seuentie yeres are accomplished, I will visite the King of Babel and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquities, euen the land of the Caldeans, and will make it a perpetuall desolation,
13 Dan zal Ik over dat land al mijn bedreigingen in vervulling doen gaan, die Ik er tegen heb uitgesproken, en alles wat in dit boek staat geschreven, en wat Jeremias over alle volken heeft voorspeld.
And I will bring vpon that lande all my wordes which I haue pronounced against it, euen all that is written in this booke, which Ieremiah hath prophecied against all nations.
14 Want ook zij zullen dienstbaar worden aan machtige volken en grote koningen: zo zal Ik ze hun daden vergelden en het werk hunner handen!
For many nations, and great Kings shall euen serue themselues of them: thus will I recompense them according to their deedes, and according to the workes of their owne handes.
15 En nu spreekt Jahweh, de God van Israël, tot mij: Neem deze beker met de wijn van gramschap uit mijn hand, en laat alle volken er uit drinken, tot wie Ik u zend;
For thus hath the Lord God of Israel spoken vnto me, Take the cuppe of wine of this mine indignation at mine hand, and cause all the nations, to whome I sende thee, to drinke it.
16 ze zullen hem drinken en waggelen, en dol worden door het zwaard, dat Ik op hen loslaat.
And they shall drinke, and be moued and be mad, because of the sworde that I will sende among them.
17 Ik nam de beker uit de hand van Jahweh aan, en liet er alle volken uit drinken, tot wie Jahweh mij zond:
Then tooke I the cup at the Lordes hand, and made all people to drinke, vnto whome the Lord had sent me:
18 Jerusalem en de steden van Juda met hun koningen en magistraten, om er een puinhoop en een woestenij van te maken, een spot en een vloek, zoals ze op de dag van vandaag zijn geworden;
Euen Ierusalem, and the cities of Iudah, and the Kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them desolate, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse, as appeareth this day:
19 Farao, den koning van Egypte met zijn hovelingen en magistraten en heel zijn volk;
Pharaoh also, King of Egypt, and his seruants, and his princes, and all his people:
20 geheel de gemengde bevolking en alle koningen van het land van Oes; al de koningen van het land der Filistijnen met Asjkelon, Gaza, Ekron en wat er van Asjdod is overgebleven;
And all sortes of people, and all the Kings of the lande of Vz: and all the Kings of the lande of the Philistims, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod:
21 Edom, Moab en de Ammonieten;
Edom, and Moab, and the Ammonites,
22 alle koningen van Tyrus, alle koningen van Sidon met de koningen van het kustgebied aan de andere kant van de zee;
And all the Kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the Kings of the Yles, that are beyonde the Sea,
23 Dedan, Tema, Boez, met allen die zich de slapen scheren;
And Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that dwell in the vttermost corners,
24 alle koningen van Arabië, met heel de gemengde bevolking, die de steppe bewoont;
And all the Kings of Arabia, and all the Kings of Arabia, that dwell in the desert,
25 alle koningen van Zimri, alle koningen van Elam en alle koningen van Medië;
And all the Kings of Zimri, and all the Kings of Elam, and all the Kings of the Medes,
26 alle koningen van het noorden, dichtbij of ver van elkander; alle koninkrijken op de oppervlakte der aarde; het laatst zal de koning van Sjesjak drinken.
And all the Kings of the North, farre and neere one to another, and all the kingdomes of the worlde, which are vpon the earth, and the king of Sheshach shall drinke after them.
27 Ge moet hun zeggen: Zo spreekt Jahweh der heirscharen, Israëls God! Drinkt, tot ge er dronken van wordt en gaat braken, tot ge er bij neervalt en niet overeind kunt door het zwaard, dat Ik op u afzend.
Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Drinke and bee drunken, and spewe and fall, and rise no more, because of the sworde, which I will sende among you.
28 En wanneer ze weigeren, de beker van u aan te nemen en te drinken, dan moet ge hun zeggen: Zo spreekt Jahweh der heirscharen! Drinken zult ge!
But if they refuse to take the cuppe at thine hande to drinke, then tell them, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Ye shall certainely drinke.
29 Of denkt ge nog, dat ge gespaard blijft, terwijl Ik al begonnen ben, rampen te brengen over de stad, die naar mijn Naam is genoemd? Neen, ge blijft niet gespaard; want Ik heb het zwaard al ontboden tegen alle bewoners der aarde, is de godsspraak van Jahweh der heirscharen!
For loe, I beginne to plague the citie, where my Name is called vpon, and shoulde you goe free? Ye shall not goe quite: for I will call for a sword vpon al the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hostes.
30 Ge moet hun dit alles profeteren, en tot hen zeggen: Jahweh brult uit de hoge, Laat zijn donder rollen uit zijn heilige woning; Hij buldert tegen zijn stede, Stoot een jubelkreet uit, als die de wijnpers treden, Tegen alle bewoners der aarde.
Therefore prophecie thou against them al these words, and say vnto them, The Lord shall roare from aboue, and thrust out his voyce from his holy habitation: he shall roare vpon his habitation, and crie aloude, as they that presse the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
31 De strijdkreet dreunt tot de grenzen der aarde, Want Jahweh gaat alle volken richten, Vonnis vellen over alle vlees: De bozen worden aan het zwaard geregen, Is de godsspraak van Jahweh!
The sounde shall come to the endes of the earth: for the Lord hath a controuersie with the nations, and will enter into iudgement with all flesh, and he will giue them that are wicked, to the sworde, saith the Lord.
32 Zo spreekt Jahweh der heirscharen: Zie, een jammer waart rond Van volk tot volk; Een geweldige storm barst los Uit de hoeken der aarde!
Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Behold, a plague shall goe foorth from nation to nation, and a great whirlewinde shalbe raised vp from the coastes of the earth,
33 Dan zullen zij, die door Jahweh worden geslagen, Van het ene einde der aarde tot het andere liggen; Ze zullen niet worden betreurd, Niet worden verzameld, niet worden begraven, Maar dienen tot mest op het veld.
And the slaine of the Lord shall be at that day, from one ende of the earth, euen vnto the other ende of the earth: they shall not bee mourned, neither gathered nor buried, but shalbe as the dongue vpon the grounde.
34 Jammert herders en klaagt, Bestrooit u met as, gij leiders der schapen: Want uw tijd is gekomen, Om geslacht te worden en afgemaakt; Als vette bokken zult ge vallen.
Howle, ye shepherdes, and crie, and wallowe your selues in the ashes, ye principall of the flocke: for your dayes of slaughter are accomplished, and of your dispersion, and ye shall fall like precious vessels.
35 Dan zal er geen vluchten meer zijn voor de herders, Geen ontkomen voor de leiders der schapen;
And the flight shall faile from the shepherdes, and the escaping from the principall of the flocke.
36 Men zal de herders horen jammeren, De leiders der schapen horen klagen, Omdat Jahweh hun kudde vernielt.
A voyce of the crye of the shepherdes, and an howling of the principall of the flocke shalbe heard: for the Lord hath destroyed their pasture.
37 De vredige beemden liggen verwoest, Door Jahweh’s ziedende toorn;
And the best pastures are destroyed because of the wrath and indignation of the Lord.
38 De leeuw heeft zijn schuilplaats verlaten, Hun land is een steppe geworden Door het moordend zwaard!
He hath forsaken his couert, as the lyon: for their land is waste, because of the wrath of the oppressor, and because of ye wrath of his indignatio.
