Genesis 12
1 Jahweh sprak tot Abram: Trek weg uit uw land, Uit uw stam en uit het huis uws vaders Naar het land, dat Ik u tonen zal.
Forsothe the Lord seide to Abram, Go thou out of thi lond, and of thi kynrede, and of the hous of thi fadir, and come thou in to the lond which Y schal schewe to thee;
2 Ik zal een groot volk van u maken, U zegenen en uw naam beroemd maken, Zodat hij ten zegen zal zijn.
and Y schal make thee in to a greet folk, and Y schal blisse thee, and Y schal magnyfie thi name, and thou schalt be blessid;
3 Ik zal zegenen, die u zegent, Vervloeken, die u vervloekt. En in u zullen alle geslachten der aarde worden gezegend.
Y schal blesse hem that blessen thee, and Y schal curse hem that cursen thee; and alle kynredis of erthe schulen be blessid in thee.
4 Toen vertrok Abram, zoals Jahweh hem bevolen had, en Lot ging met hem mee; Abram was vijf en zeventig jaar oud, toen hij uit Charan wegtrok.
And so Abram yede out, as the Lord comaundide hym, and Loth yede with hym. Abram was of `thre scoor yeer and fiftene whanne he yede out of Aran.
5 Abram nam Sarai, zijn vrouw, en zijn neef Lot met zich mee, met heel hun bezit, en al de slaven, die zij in Charan hadden verworven; ze gingen op weg naar het land Kanaän, en kwamen daar aan.
And he took Saray, his wijf, and Loth, the sone of his brother, and al the substaunce which thei hadden in possessioun, and the men whiche thei hadden bigete in Aran; and thei yeden out that thei `schulen go in to the loond of Chanaan. And whanne they camen in to it,
6 Abram trok het land door tot de plaats Sikem, en de eik van More. De Kanaänieten woonden toen nog in het land.
Abram passide thorou the lond til to the place of Sichem, and til to the noble valey. Forsothe Chananei was thanne in the lond.
7 Nu verscheen Jahweh aan Abram, en sprak: Dit land zal Ik aan uw nageslacht geven. Toen bouwde hij daar een altaar ter ere van Jahweh, die hem verschenen was.
Sotheli the Lord apperide to Abram, and seide to hym, Y schal yyue this lond to thi seed. And Abram bildide there an auter to the Lord, that apperide to hym.
8 Vandaar reisde hij verder naar het bergland ten oosten van Betel, en sloeg zijn tent op tussen Betel ten westen en Ai ten oosten; daar bouwde hij een altaar voor Jahweh, en riep de naam van Jahweh aan.
And fro thennus he passide forth to the hil Bethel, that was ayens the eest, and settide there his tabernacle, hauynge Bethel fro the west, and Hay fro the eest. And he bildide also there an auter to the Lord, and inwardli clepide his name.
9 Daarna trok Abram steeds verder naar het zuiden.
And Abram yede goynge and goynge forth ouer to the south.
10 Toen er in het land eens hongersnood uitbrak, zakte Abram naar Egypte af, om daar enige tijd te verblijven; want de hongersnood teisterde het land hevig.
Sotheli hungur was maad in the lond; and Abram yede doun in to Egipt, to be a pilgrime ther, for hungur hadde maistrie in the lond.
11 Maar op het punt Egypte binnen te trekken, zeide hij tot Sarai, zijn vrouw: Luister; ik weet, dat gij een mooie vrouw zijt.
And whanne he was nyy to entre in to Egipt, he seide to Saray, his wijf, Y knowe that thou art a fair womman,
12 Als de Egyptenaren u zien, en denken: dat is zijn vrouw, dan zullen ze mij vermoorden, maar u in leven laten.
and that whanne Egipcians schulen se thee, thei schulen seie, it is his wijf, and thei schulen sle me, and `schulen reserue thee.
13 Zeg dus, dat gij mijn zuster zijt, dan zal het mij goed gaan om wille van u, en zal ik om uwentwil gespaard blijven.
Therfor, Y biseche thee, seie thou, that thou art my sistir, that it be wel to me for thee, and that my lijf lyue for loue of thee.
14 Zodra Abram nu in Egypte was gekomen, zagen de Egyptenaren, hoe buitengewoon mooi die vrouw was.
And so whanne Abram hadde entrid in to Egipt, Egipcians sien the womman that sche was ful fair; and the prynces telden to Farao, and preiseden hir anentis him;
15 En toen Farao’s hovelingen haar zagen, roemden zij haar bij Farao, met het gevolg, dat de vrouw in het paleis van Farao werd gehaald.
and the womman was takun vp in to the hous of Farao.
16 Hij overlaadde Abram om wille van haar met weldaden, zodat hij schapen, runderen en ezels, slaven en slavinnen, ezelinnen en kamelen ontving.
Forsothe thei vsiden wel Abram for hir; and scheep, and oxun, and assis, and seruauntis, and seruauntessis, and sche assis, and camels weren to hym.
17 Maar Jahweh trof Farao en zijn huis met zware slagen naar aanleiding van Sarai, de vrouw van Abram.
Forsothe the Lord beet Farao and his hous with moste veniaunces, for Saray, the wijf of Abram.
18 Toen ontbood Farao Abram, en zeide: Wat hebt ge mij daar aangedaan; waarom hebt ge mij niet meegedeeld, dat het uw vrouw is?
And Farao clepide Abram, and seide to hym, What is it that thou hast do to me? whi schewidist thou not to me, that sche was thi wijf?
19 Waarom hebt ge gezegd: het is mijn zuster; zodat ik ze mij tot vrouw heb genomen. Daar hebt ge uw vrouw terug; neem haar mee en vertrek.
for what cause seidist thou, that sche was thi sister, that Y schulde take hir in to wife to me? Now therfor lo! thi wiif; take thou hir, and go.
20 En Farao gaf aan enige mannen bevel, om hem en zijn vrouw, met alles wat hem toebehoorde, uitgeleide te doen.
And Farao comaundide to men on Abram, and thei ledden forth hym, and his wijf, and alle thingis that he hadde.
