1 Samuël 9
1 Nu was er onder de Benjamieten een man, die Kisj heette; hij was een zoon van Abiël, den zoon van Seror, zoon van Bekorat, zoon van Afiach; hij was een Benjamiet, en een welvarend man.
And he was a man (from Benjamin *Q(K)*) and name his [was] Kish [the] son of Abiel [the] son of Zeror [the] son of Becorath [the] son of Aphiah a son of a man a Jaminite a mighty [man] of wealth.
2 Deze had een zoon, Saul genaamd, jong en flink. Niemand van de Israëlieten was zo flink als hij; met kop en schouder stak hij boven heel het volk uit.
And to him he belonged a son and name his [was] Saul a young man and good and not a man from [the] people of Israel [was] good more than him from shoulder his and up-wards [he was] tall more than all the people.
3 Eens werden de ezelinnen van Kisj, den vader van Saul, vermist. Kisj zeide dus tot zijn zoon Saul: Neem een van de knechten met u mee, en vooruit, ga de ezelinnen zoeken.
And they were lost the she-asses of Kish [the] father of Saul and he said Kish to Saul son his take please with you one from the young men and arise go seek the she-asses.
4 Ze doorkruisten het Efraïmgebergte en vervolgens de landstreek Sjalisja, zonder iets te vinden. Daarna zwierven ze door de landstreek Sjaälim, maar ook daar waren ze niet. Ook zochten ze het land van Benjamin af, maar ze vonden niets.
And he passed in [the] hill country of Ephraim and he passed in [the] land of Shalisha and not they found [them] and they passed in [the] land of Shaalim and there not and he passed in [the] land of [the] Jaminite[s] and not they found [them].
5 Toen ze eindelijk in de landstreek Soef waren gekomen, zei Saul tot zijn knecht, die hem begeleidde: Laat ons maar teruggaan; anders maakt mijn vader zich nog meer bezorgd over ons, dan over de ezelinnen.
They they came in [the] land of Zuph and Saul he said to servant his who [was] with him come! so let us turn back lest he should cease father my from the she-asses and he will be anxious to us.
6 Hij antwoordde hem: Daar in die stad woont een man Gods, die hoog in aanzien staat; want alles wat hij zegt komt haarfijn uit. Laat ons daarheen gaan; misschien kan hij ons inlichten omtrent de weg, die we hebben te gaan.
And he said to him here! please a man of God [is] in the city this and the man [is] honored all that he speaks actually it comes now let us go there perhaps he will tell to us journey our which we have walked on it.
7 Saul zei tot den knecht: Wat kunnen we den man dan aanbieden, als we er heen gaan? Het brood in onze zakken is op, en we hebben geen geld; wat kunnen we den godsman dan aanbieden?
And he said Saul to servant his and here! we will go and what? will we bring to the man for the bread it has been used up from bags our and [is] a gift there not to bring to [the] man of God what? [is] with us.
8 De knecht hernam en zei tot Saul: Wel, ik heb nog een kwart zilveren sikkel, die ik den godsman zou kunnen aanbieden; dan zal hij ons wel inlichtingen geven over onze reis.
And he repeated the servant to answer Saul and he said here! [is] found in hand my a fourth part of a shekel of silver and I will give [it] to [the] man of God and he will tell to us journey our.
9 (Vroeger zei men namelijk in Israël, als men God ging bevragen: "Kom, laat ons naar den ziener gaan"; want de profeet van vandaag werd vroeger ziener genoemd.)
Before - in Israel thus he said the man when went he to consult God come so let us go to the seer for to the prophet this day it was called before the seer.
10 Toen zei Saul tot den knecht: Uw voorstel is goed; kom, laat ons naar den ziener gaan. Ze gingen dus naar de stad waar de godsman woonde.
And he said Saul to servant his [is] good word your come! - let us go and they went to the city where [was] there [the] man of God.
11 Terwijl ze de helling naar de stad beklommen, kwamen ze meisjes tegen, die water gingen putten. Ze vroegen haar: Is de ziener thuis?
They [were] going up on [the] ascent of the city and they they found young women coming out to draw water and they said to them ¿ [is] there in this [place] the seer.
12 Ze antwoordden hun: Ja, de ziener is juist vóór u in de stad aangekomen; want er is vandaag op de hoogte een offer voor het volk.
And they answered them and they said there is there! before you hurry - now for this day he has come to the city for a sacrifice this day [belongs] to the people at the high place.
13 Als gij nu naar de stad gaat, kunt gij hem nog treffen, voordat hij de hoogte beklimt om te eten. Want het volk kan niet beginnen, voordat hij komt; hij moet immers het offer zegenen, dan pas kunnen de gasten eten. Gaat dus naar boven, dan zult gij hem nog juist kunnen treffen.
When come you the city thus you will find! him before he will go up the high place towards to eat for not it will eat the people until comes he for he he will bless the sacrifice after thus they will eat those [who] were invited and now go up for him as the day you will find! him.
14 Ze gingen dus naar de stad. Juist toen ze de poort binnenkwamen, liep Samuël hun tegemoet, daar hij naar buiten ging, om zich naar de hoogte te begeven.
And they went up the city they [were] coming in [the] midst of the city and there! Samuel [was] coming out to meet them to go up the high place.
15 Nu had Jahweh daags voor de komst van Saul aan Samuël geopenbaard:
And Yahweh he had uncovered [the] ear of Samuel a day one before came Saul saying.
16 Morgen om deze tijd zal Ik een man sturen uit het gebied van Benjamin; dien moet ge zalven tot vorst over mijn volk Israël. Hij zal mijn volk verlossen uit de macht der Filistijnen. Want Ik heb op mijn volk neergezien, daar zijn geroep tot Mij is doorgedrongen.
About this time - tomorrow I will send to you a man from [the] land of Benjamin and you will anoint him to ruler over people my Israel and he will deliver people my from [the] hand of [the] Philistines for I have seen people my for it has come cry of distress its to me.
17 Toen nu Samuël Saul bemerkte, zeide Jahweh tot hem: Dat is de man, van wien Ik u gesproken heb; hij zal heersen over mijn volk.
And Samuel he saw Saul and Yahweh he answered him here! the man whom I spoke to you this [one] he will rule over people my.
18 Intussen was Saul onder de poort op Samuël toegetreden. Hij vroeg: Wees zo goed, en vertel me, waar het huis van den ziener staat.
And he approached Saul Samuel in [the] middle of the gate and he said tell! please to me where? this [is] [the] house of the seer.
19 Samuël gaf Saul ten antwoord: Ik zelf ben de ziener. Ga voor mij uit naar de hoogte, en eet vandaag bij mij; morgen zal ik u uitgeleide doen, en u alles vertellen, wat u op het hart ligt.
And he answered Samuel Saul and he said I [am] the seer go up before me the high place and you will eat with me this day and I will send away you in the morning and all that [is] in heart your I will tell to you.
20 Wat die ezelinnen betreft, die ge nu sinds drie dagen mist, heb daar geen zorg over; want ze zijn teruggevonden. Maar aan wien zal ten deel vallen, wat heel Israël zich wenst? Aan wien anders dan aan u en aan uw gehele familie?
And to the she-asses which were lost of you this day [the] three the days may not you set heart your to them for they have been found and [belongs] to whom? every desirable thing of Israel ¿ not to you and to all [the] house of father your.
21 Saul antwoordde en sprak: Ik ben toch maar een Benjamiet, uit de kleinste stam van Israël, en mijn geslacht is het onbeduidendste onder alle geslachten van de stam Benjamin. Waarom zegt ge mij dan zo iets?
And he answered Saul and he said ¿ not a Ben-jaminite [am] I from [the] small of [the] tribes of Israel and [is] clan? my the insignificant of all [the] clans of [the] tribes of Benjamin and why? have you spoken to me according to the manner this.
22 Nu nam Samuël Saul en zijn knecht met zich mee, en bracht ze naar een kamer, waar hij hun een plaats gaf aan het hoofd van de ongeveer dertig genodigden.
And he took Samuel Saul and servant his and he brought them [the] room towards and he gave to them a place at [the] head of those [who] were invited and they [were] about thirty man.
23 En tot den kok zei Samuël: Dien het gerecht op, dat ik u gegeven heb, en dat ik u verzocht, apart te houden.
And he said Samuel to the cook give! the portion which I gave to you which I said to you put it with you.
24 De kok diende dus de schenkel op met wat daarbij hoort, en zette die voor Saul neer. Samuël zeide: Eet wat u wordt voorgezet; want het werd voor u bestemd, toen ik het volk voor dit feest bijeenriep. Zo at Saul die dag bij Samuël;
And he lifted up the cook the thigh and the on it and he put [it] - before Saul and he said here! the [part which] remains set [it] before you eat [it] for to the appointed time [it was] kept for you saying the people - I have invited and he ate Saul with Samuel on the day that.
25 daarna daalden zij van de hoogte naar de stad af. Men spreidde voor Saul een bed op het terras,
And they went down from the high place the city and he spoke with Saul on the roof.
26 en hij ging slapen. Zodra de morgen was aangebroken, riep Samuël tot Saul, die op het terras was: Sta op, dan kan ik u uitgeleide doen. Saul stond dus op, en ging vergezeld van Samuël naar buiten.
And they rose early and it was when came up the dawn and he called Samuel to Saul (the roof towards *Q(K)*) saying arise! so I may send away you and he arose Saul and they went out [the] two of them he and Samuel the outside towards.
27 Toen ze tot het einde der stad waren afgedaald, sprak Samuël tot Saul: Zeg tegen den knecht, dat hij ons vooruit moet lopen. Blijf zelf een ogenblik stil staan, dan zal ik u Gods woord verkondigen.
They [were] going down at [the] edge of the city and Samuel he said to Saul say to the servant so he may pass on before us and he passed on and you remain as the day so I may make hear you [the] word of God.
