1 Johannes 4
1 Geliefden, gelooft niet iedere geest, maar onderzoekt, of de geesten uit God zijn; want vele valse profeten zijn uitgegaan over de wereld.
Beloved, not every spirit do believe but do test the spirits whether of God they are, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 Hieraan erkent ge de geest van God: Iedere geest die belijdt, dat Jesus Christus in het Vlees is gekomen, hij is uit God.
By this (you know *NK(O)*) the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses Jesus Christ in [the] flesh having come of God is.
3 Maar iedere geest, die Jesus niet belijdt, is niet uit God; dat is er een van den Antichrist, die komt, zoals gij gehoord hebt, en die nu reeds in de wereld is.
and any spirit that not confesses Jesus (Christ in flesh having come *K*) from God not is; And this is that of the antichrist which you have heard that is coming and now in the world is already.
4 Gij, kinderkens, gij zijt uit God, en hebt ze overwonnen; want Hij die in u woont, is machtiger dan hij die in de wereld is.
you yourselves from God are, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is the [One] in you than the [one] in the world.
5 Zij zijn uit de wereld; daarom spreken ze naar de wereld, en de wereld luistert naar hen.
They themselves of the world are; because of this from out of the world they speak and the world to them listens.
6 Wij zijn uit God: wie God kent, luistert naar ons; wie niet uit God is, luistert niet naar ons. -Hieraan erkennen we de geest der waarheid en de geest der dwaling.
We ourselves of God are; The [one] knowing God listens to us; He who not is from God not listens to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
7 Geliefden, laat ons elkander beminnen. Want de liefde is uit God, en wie liefheeft, is uit God geboren en kent God;
Beloved, we may love one another, because love from God is and everyone who is loving from God has been born and knows God;
8 wie niet liefheeft, kent God niet. Want God is liefde!
The [one] not loving not has known God, because God love is.
9 Hierdoor heeft Gods liefde zich aan ons geopenbaard, dat God zijn eniggeboren Zoon in de wereld heeft gezonden, opdat wij door Hem zouden leven.
In this has been revealed the love of God among us, that the Son of Him the one and only has sent God into the world so that we may live through Him.
10 Hierin bestaat de liefde: niet dat wij God hebben liefgehad, maar dat Hij ons heeft bemind en zijn Zoon heeft gezonden tot verzoening voor onze zonden.
In this is love, not that we ourselves (have loved *N(k)O*) God, but that He himself loved us and He sent the Son of Him [as] a propitiation for the sins of us.
11 Geliefden, als God ons zó heeft liefgehad, dan moeten ook wij elkander beminnen.
Beloved, if so God loved us, also we ourselves ought one another to love;
12 Nooit heeft iemand God aanschouwd; maar wanneer wij elkander beminnen, dan blijft God in ons, en is in ons de volmaakte liefde tot Hem.
God no [one] at any time has seen; if we shall love one another, God in us abides and the love of Him in us perfected is.
13 Hieraan erkennen wij, dat wij in Hem blijven, en Hij in ons: dat Hij ons van zijn Geest heeft meegedeeld.
By this we know that in Him we abide and He in us, because from out the Spirit of Him He has given to us.
14 En we hebben aanschouwd en getuigen, dat de Vader den Zoon heeft gezonden als Verlosser der wereld;
And we ourselves have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son [as] Savior of the world.
15 wie dus belijdt, dat Jesus de Zoon is van God, in hem blijft God, en hij blijft in God;
Who[ever] (maybe *N(k)O*) shall confess that Jesus (Christ *O*) is the Son of God, God in him abides and he in God.
16 dan hebben we ook de liefde erkend en geloofd, die God voor ons heeft. God is liefde; en wie in de liefde blijft, blijft in God en God in hem.
And we ourselves have come to know and we have come to believe the love that has God as to us. God love is, and the [one] abiding in love in God abides, and God in him (abides. *NO*)
17 Hiertoe juist is bij ons de liefde tot volmaaktheid gebracht, dat we vertrouwen mogen hebben op de dag van het Oordeel; want dan zijn we op de wereld, gelijk Hijzelf is.
In this has been perfected love with us, so that confidence we may have in the day of judgment, that even as He is also we ourselves are in world this.
18 In de liefde bestaat er geen vrees, maar de volmaakte liefde bant de vrees; want de vrees onderstelt straf. Wie vreest, heeft dus de volmaakte liefde niet.
Fear no there is in love, but perfect love out casts fear, because the fear punishment has; the [one] now fearing not has been perfected in love.
19 Wij hebben lief, omdat Hij ons het eerst heeft liefgehad.
We ourselves love (him *K*) because He himself first loved us.
20 Zo iemand zegt: "Ik heb God lief," maar toch zijn broeder haat, hij is een leugenaar; wie immers zijn broeder, dien hij gezien heeft, niet bemint, kan God niet beminnen, dien hij niet heeft gezien.
If anyone shall say that I love God and the brother of him may hate, a liar he is; The [one] for not loving the brother of him whom he has seen, God whom not he has seen (not *N(K)O*) is he able to love;
21 Want dit gebod hebben we van Hem ontvangen: wie God bemint, moet ook zijn broeder beminnen.
And this the commandment we have from Him, that the [one] loving God may love also the brother of him.
