1 Kronieken 5
1 Dit zijn de zonen van Ruben, den oudsten zoon van Israël. Ruben was wel de eerstgeborene, maar omdat hij de sponde van zijn vader ontwijd had, ging zijn eerstgeboorterecht over aan de zonen van Josef, den zoon van Israël, zonder dat dezen met de rang van eerstgeborene waren ingeschreven.
The sonnes also of Reuben the eldest sonne of Israel (for he was the eldest, but had defiled his fathers bed, therefore his birthright was giuen vnto the sonnes of Ioseph the sonne of Israel, so that the genealogie is not rekoned after his birthright.
2 Zo kwam Josef aan het eerstgeboorterecht, ofschoon Juda eigenlijk de voornaamste van zijn broeders was, en hun leider.
For Iudah preuailed aboue his brethren, and of him came the prince, but the birthright was Iosephs)
3 De zonen dus van Ruben, den oudsten zoon van Israël, waren: Chanok, Palloe, Chesron en Karmi.
The sonnes of Reuben the eldest sonne of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.
4 De zoon van Karmi was Joël; die van Joël was Sjemaja; die van Sjemaja was Gog; die van Gog was Sjimi;
The sonnes of Ioel, Shemaiah his sonne, Gog his sonne, and Shimei his sonne,
5 die van Sjimi was Mika; die van Mika was Reaja; die van Reaja was Báal;
Michah his sonne, Reaiah his sonne, and Baal his sonne,
6 die van Báal was Beëra. Deze laatste werd weggevoerd door Tiglat-Pilnéser, den koning van Assjoer; hij was toen het hoofd der Rubenieten.
Beerah his sonne: whom Tilgath Pilneeser King of Asshur caryed away: he was a prince of the Reubenites.
7 De verschillende stamgenoten met hun geslachten, die volgens hun afkomst in het stamregister werden opgeschreven, waren Jeïel, die het hoofd was, Zekarjáhoe,
And when his brethren in their families rekoned the genealogie of their generations, Ieiel and Zechariah were the chiefe,
8 en Béla, de zoon van Azaz, den zoon van Sjéma, zoon van Joël. Deze laatste had zijn woonplaats bij Aroër, tot de Nebo en Báal-Meon,
And Bela the sonne of Azaz, the sonne of Shema, the sonne of Ioel, which dwelt in Aroer, euen vnto Nebo and Baal meon.
9 en oostwaarts tot aan de rand van de woestijn, die bij de rivier de Eufraat begint; zij hadden namelijk talrijke kudden lopen in het land Gilad.
Also Eastwarde he inhabited vnto the entring in of the wildernes from the riuer Perath for they had much cattel in the land of Gilead.
10 Tijdens de regering van Saul voerden ze oorlog met de Hagrieten, die verslagen werden, en vestigden zich in hun tenten over heel het oosten van Gilad.
And in the dayes of Saul they warred with the Hagarims, which fell by their hands: and they dwelt in their tentes in all the East partes of Gilead.
11 Tegenover hen, in het land Basjan tot Salka, hadden de zonen van Gad hun woonplaats.
And the children of Gad dwelt ouer against them in the land of Bashan, vnto Salchah.
12 Hun hoofd was Joël; de tweede was Sjafam; in Basjan woonden nog Janai en Sjafat.
Ioel was the chiefest, and Shapham the second, but Iaanai and Shaphat were in Bashan.
13 De verschillende families van hun stamgenoten waren: Mikaël, Mesjoellam, Sjébe, Jorai, Jakan, Zia en Éber, in het geheel zeven.
And their brethren of the house of their fathers were Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Sorai, and Iacan, and Zia and Eber, seuen.
14 Het waren zonen van Abicháil, den zoon van Choeri, zoon van Jaróach, zoon van Gilad, zoon van Mikaël, zoon van Jesjisjai, zoon van Jachdo, zoon van Boez.
These are the childre of Abihail, the sonne of Huri, the sonne of Iaroah, the sonne of Gilead, the sonne of Michael, the sonne of Ieshishai, the sonne of Iahdo, the sonne of Buz.
15 Achi, de zoon van Abdiël, den zoon van Goeni, was het hoofd van hun families.
Ahi the sonne of Abdiel, the sonne of Guni was chiefe of the houshold of their fathers.
16 Zij hadden hun woonplaats in Gilad, in Basjan met bijbehorende streken, en op alle weidegronden van de Sjaron met hun uitlopers.
And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in the townes thereof, and in all the suburbes of Sharon by their borders.
17 Allen werden ze in het stamregister opgenomen tijdens de regering van Jotam, den koning van Juda, en van Jeroboam, den koning van Israël.
All these were rekoned by genealogies in the dayes of Iotham King of Iudah, and in the dayes of Ieroboam King of Israel.
18 De Rubenieten, de Gadieten en de halve stam Manasse waren dappere mannen. Ze telden niet minder dan vier en veertig duizend zevenhonderd zestig krijgers, gewapend met schild en zwaard, in staat de boog te hanteren, en gehard in de strijd.
The sonnes of Reuben and of Gad, and of halfe the tribe of Manasseh of those that were viliant men, able to beare shield, and sworde, and to draw a bowe, exercised in warre, were foure and fourtie thousand, seuen hundreth and three score, that went out to the warre.
19 Ze voerden oorlog met de Hagrieten, en met Jetoer, Nafisj en Nodab.
And they made warre with the Hagarims, with Ietur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
20 Ofschoon de Hagrieten in die strijd geholpen werden, vielen ze met al hun bondgenoten in hun handen. Want tijdens het gevecht baden zij tot God, en omdat zij op Hem vertrouwden, verhoorde Hij hen.
And they were holpen against them, and the Hagarims were deliuered into their hande, and all that were with them: for they cryed to God in the battel, and he heard them, because they trusted in him.
21 Ze namen hun kudden mee: vijftigduizend kamelen, tweehonderd vijftigduizend schapen, tweeduizend ezels; en bovendien honderdduizend gevangenen.
And they led away their cattel, euen their camels fiftie thousand, and two hundreth, and fiftie thousand sheepe, and two thousand asses, and of persons an hundreth thousand.
22 Want daar het een strijd was, door God bevolen, waren er vele slachtoffers gevallen. Ze bleven daar in hun plaats tot aan de ballingschap gevestigd.
For many fel downe wounded, because the warre was of God. And they dwelt in their steads vntill the captiuitie.
23 De zonen van de halve stam Manasse hadden hun woonplaatsen in de streek van Basjan af tot Báal-Chermon, de Senir en het Hermongebergte; ze waren zelfs in de Libanon doorgedrongen.
And the children of the halfe tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Baashan vnto Baal Hermon, and Senir, and vnto mount Hermon: for they increased.
24 Hun familiehoofden waren: Éfer, Jisji, Eliël, Azriël, Jirmeja, Hodawja en Jachdiël; het waren dappere en beroemde mannen, hoofden van hun families.
And these were the heads of the housholds of their fathers, euen Epher and Ishi, and Eliel and Azriel, and Ieremiah, and Hodauiah, and Iahdiel, strong men, valiant and famous, heades of the housholdes of their fathers.
25 Maar ze waren ontrouw aan den God hunner vaderen, en hielden het met de goden van de inheemse bevolking, die door God om hunnentwille was uitgeroeid.
But they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the lande, whome God had destroyed before them.
26 Daarom gaf de God van Israël aan Poel, den koning van Assjoer, en Tiglat-Pilnéser, den koning van Assjoer, de gedachte in, de Rubenieten, de Gadieten en de halve stam Manasse in ballingschap weg te voeren. Zij brachten ze naar Chalach, Chabor, Hara en de rivier Gozan, waar ze ook nu nog wonen.
And the God of Israel stirred vp the spirit of Pul king of Asshur, and the spirite of Tilgath Pilneeser king of Asshur, and he caryed them away: euen the Reubenites and the Gadites, and the halfe tribe of Manasseh, and brought them vnto Halah and Habor, and Hara, and to the riuer Gozan, vnto this day.
