1 Mpawo Jesu wakazulwidwa a Muuya kuya munkanda kuti akasunkwe asimwaba.
Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.
2 Lino nakalyimya mazuba makumi aane amansiku ali makumi aane, wakaba enzala.
After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 Sikusunka wakasika akwamba kuti kulinguwe, “kuti koli mwana wa Leza, layilila mabwe aya kuti abe chinkwa.”
Then the tempter came up to him and said, “If yoʋ are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”
4 Pesi Jesu wakasandula akwamba kuti kulinguwe, “Kulilembedwe kuti Muntu takoyopona achinkwa luzutu, pes ajwi lyoonse lizwa kumulomo wa Leza.”
But Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Mpawo simwaba wakamutola kuchisi chisalala akumukkazika aatala ansonge yangánda ya Leza,
Then the devil took him to the holy city, set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 akwamba kuti kulinguwe, “Na koli mwana a Leza, liwalile aansi, nkambo kulilembedwe kuti uyolayilila bangelobakwe kuti bakubambe; alimwi, bayokubaka mumaanza abo, kuti utakalyumpuni abbwe.”
and said to him, “If yoʋ are the Son of God, throw yoʋrself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning yoʋ,’ and, ‘In their hands they will lift yoʋ up, so that yoʋ do not strike yoʋr foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesu wakabambila kuti, “Alubo kulilembedwe kuti, utasunki Mwami Leza wako.”
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘Yoʋ shall not put the Lord yoʋr God to the test.’”
8 Alubo simwaba wakamutola kukalundu kalamfu akumutondezya Bwami boonse bwanyika abulemu bwayo bonse.
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9 Wakamwambila kuti, “zyonse zintu eezi ndiyokupa, kuti wandivundamina akundikomba.”
And he said to him, “All these things I will give yoʋ, if yoʋ will fall down and worship me.”
10 Mpawo Jesu wakamwambila kuti, zwaawa, siluuni! Nkambo kulilembedwe kuti, uyokomba Mwami Leza wako, akukutawukila nguwe luzutu.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘Yoʋ shall worship the Lord yoʋr God, and him only shall yoʋ serve.’”
11 Mpawo simwaba wakayinka, Amubone bangelo bakaza akumukutawukila.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
12 Lino Jesu nakamvwa kuti Joni wakaabwa wakazwa waya ku Galili.
Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.
13 Wakazwa mu Nazaleta akwinka kuyokkala muKkapenawuma, ilikumbali lyalwizi lwa Galili mumasena a Zebbuluni a Nafutali.
And leaving Nazareth, he went and dwelt at Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 Eezi zyakachitika kuti kuzuzikizigwe zyakaambwa amusinsiimi Isaya kuti,
so that what had been spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
15 “Chisi cha Zebbuluni achisi cha Nafutali kaziya kulwizi, luli kunembo lya Jolodani, Galili wabamasi!
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 Bantu bakalikkede mumudima babona mumuuni mupati, akulibaabo bakalikkede muchilikiti amumwenzule walufu, alimbabo kwanyamuka mumuuni.”
the people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and on those sitting in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.”
17 Kuzwa kulecho chindi Jesu wakatalika kukambawuka akuti, “Amusanduke, nkambo Bwami bwakujulu bwasika afwifwi.”
From that time Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.”
18 Nakali kwenda ambali lyalwizi lwaGalili, wakabona bana bakwabo babili, Sayimoni utegwa Pita, a Endulo mukulana wakwe, bakali kuwala tuzamba mulwizi, nkambo bakali bazubi babaswi.
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
19 Jesu wakati kulimbabo, “amuze, munditobele, alimwi ndiyomuchita kuba bazubi babantu.”
Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
20 Mpawawo bakasiya tuzamba bamutobela.
So they immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 Jesu nakali kuyabwenda kuzwa mpawawo wakabona bambi bana bakwabo babili, Jemusi mwana a Zebbedi, a Joni mukulanakwe. Bakali mubwato awisi Zebbedi kabali kusuma tuzamba twabo. Wakabayita,
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.
22 Alimwi mpawawo bakasiya bwato awisi akumutobela.
So they immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.
23 Jesu wakiinka mu Galili yoonse, kayobuyiisya muzikombelo, kakambawuka makani mabotu a Bwami akusilika misyobo yamalwazi amachise akali mubantu.
Then Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
24 Impuwo atala anguwe yakamwayika mu Siliya yoonse, alimwi bantu bakeeta boonse bakali kuchiswa misyobo-misyobo yamalwazi amachise, abaabo bakanjidwemyuuya mibi, basimasuntu, abayuminide mibili, Jesu wakabasilika.
So the news about him went out into all of Syria, and the people brought to him all who were sick with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics. And he healed them.
25 Makamu makamu abantu akamutobela kuzwa kuGalili, Ba Dekkapolisi, Jelusalemu, aku Judiya, akuzwa kunembo lya Jolodani.
And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
