< Zekaria 7 >

1 Tarik angʼwen mar dwe mar ochiko, e higa mar angʼwen mar loch Darius, wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro ni Zekaria.
In the fourth year of the reign of King Darius, on the fourth day of Chislev, the ninth month, the message of the Lord came to Zechariah.
2 Noyudo jo-Bethel ooro Shareza gi Regem-Melek, kod jogi moko, mondo okwa Jehova Nyasaye gweth,
The city of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech and their men, to entreat the favour of the Lord,
3 ka gipenjo jodolo mag od Jehova Nyasaye Maratego kod jonabi niya, “Bende owinjore aywagi kendo atwe chiemo e dwe mar abich kaka asebedo ka atimo kuom higni mangʼeny?”
and to ask the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts, and the prophets ‘Should I continue to mourn in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done for many years?’
4 Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye Maratego nobirona, kawacho niya,
Then this message of the Lord of hosts came to me:
5 “Penj ji duto manie piny, kaachiel gi jodolo ni, ‘Kane utweyo chiemo kendo uywak e dwe mar abich gi mar abiriyo kuom higni piero abiriyo mokalogo duto, bende an ema ne utweyona chiemo adier?
Tell all the people of the land and the priests, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, for these seventy years, did you really fast for me?
6 Koso kane uchiemo kendo umetho, donge nuchiemo kendo umetho mana ne un uwegi?
When you eat and when you drink, do you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
7 Magi donge e weche mane Jehova Nyasaye owacho kotiyo gi jonabi machon, e kinde mane Jerusalem gi mier molwore ne nigi kwe kendo dhi maber, bende e kinde ma Negev gi pinje manie tie gode ma yo podho chiengʼ ne pok ji odakie?’”
Wasn’t it this which the Lord proclaimed by the earlier prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and prosperous, and her towns surrounding her and the Negreb and the Shephelah were inhabited?’
8 Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye nochako obiro ni Zekaria niya,
The Lord gave this message to Zechariah:
9 “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho, ‘Ngʼaduru bura madier; nyisuru tim ngʼwono kod kech ni jowadu.
The Lord of hosts says, execute true judgments. Show kindness and mercy to each other.
10 Kik usand dhako ma chwore otho kata nyathi kich, kata jadak, kata jadhier. Kik upar timo marach ni jowadu gie chunyu.’
Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the resident foreigner or the poor. Let none of you devise evil against another in your hearts.
11 “To negitamore winjo wechena; mi gingʼanyona kendo gidino parogi mondo kik giwinj wechena.
But they refused to listen, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears so they wouldn’t hear.
12 Ee, negiketo chunygi obedo matek ta mana ka kidi, kendo ne gidagi winjo chik kata weche ma Jehova Nyasaye Maratego nooronigi kuom Roho kokonyore gi jonabi machon. Omiyo Jehova Nyasaye Maratego nokecho ahinya.
They made their hearts as hard as stone so they wouldn’t accept the teaching and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent by his spirit through the earlier prophets. Great was the anger of the Lord of hosts:
13 “‘Kane aluongo, ne ok giwinjo, omiyo gin bende kane giluongo to ne ok anyal yienegi,’ Jehova Nyasaye Maratego owacho.
I called and they would not hear, so they call and I do not hear, says the Lord of hosts.
14 ‘Ne akeyogi ka kalausi e kind ogendini ma ok gingʼeyo. Piny mane giweyo nolokore gunda bangʼ-gi mane onge ngʼama kadhe kata dhiye. Kamano e kaka negimiyo piny majaberno olokore gunda.’”
I scattered them by a whirlwind out among nations unknown to them. The land was left desolate behind them, with no one crossing or returning, for they made the pleasant land a desolation.
