< Jo-Rumi 3 >

1 To ere ohand bedo ja-Yahudi kata ber tero nyangu?
WHAT then is the superiority of the Jew? or what is the advantage of circumcision?
2 Nitie ber mangʼeny! Mokwongo, gin ema ne omigi wechegi mag Nyasaye.
Much in every view: the principal one indeed is, that the oracles of God were entrusted to them.
3 To kapo ni moko kuomgi ne onge gi yie, to bende bedogi maonge yie nyalo ketho adiera mar Nyasaye?
For what if some were unbelievers? shall their unbelief render the faithfulness of God ineffectual?
4 Ooyo, ok kamano kata matin! Nyasaye nyaka bed ja-adiera, to ji duto jo-miriambo, mana kaka ondiki niya, “Mondo ibedi kare ka iwuoyo kendo ilochi ka ingʼadona bura.”
God forbid: but let God be true, though every man were a liar; as it is written, “That thou mayest be acknowledged just in thy sayings, and overcome when thou art judged.”
5 To ka timbewa maricho konyo kuom guro tim makare mar Nyasaye, to koro wanyalo wacho angʼo? Wanyalo wacho ni Nyasaye timo marach kokumowa gi mirimbe mager? (An awuoyo mana kaka dhano.)
But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is not God unrighteous in inflicting wrath? (I speak humanly).
6 Ok kamano ngangʼ! Nikech ka en kamano, to Nyasaye dingʼad bura ni piny nade?
God forbid: for how then shall God judge the world?
7 Bende ngʼato nyalo wacho niya, “Ka miriambona nyalo miyo adiera mar Nyasaye medore, kendo duongʼne bende medo nyisore to marangʼo pod ingʼadona bura kaka jaricho?”
For if the truth of God by my lying hath more abundantly contributed to his glory; why am I notwithstanding judged as a sinner?
8 Jomoko osehangonwa wach kawacho ni wapuonjo niya, “Watimuru atima richo mondo eka ber obedie?” Joma kamago owinjore gi kum!
And why not admit, (as we are falsely reported of; and as some affirm we say, ) That we should do evil things, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.
9 Koro wanyalo wacho nangʼo mogik? Bende waber adier? Ok kamano ngangʼ! Wasengʼado bura ni jo-Yahudi kod joma ok jo-Yahudi gi joricho mana machalre.
What then? have we pre-eminence? Not at all: for we have before proved that both the Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
10 Mana kaka ondiki niya, “Onge ngʼama kare, onge kata achiel;
as it is written, “There is not a just person, no not one:
11 Onge ngʼama wach donjone, onge ngʼama dwaro Nyasaye.
there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 Ji duto osebaro, giduto gisedoko joma nono; onge ngʼama timo maber, onge kata achiel.”
All are turned aside together, they are become worthless; there is none that doeth good, there is not even one.
13 “Dwondgi chalo liete mapok oum; lewgi olony e wacho miriambo.” “Kwiri mar thuond fu ni e lewgi.”
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have spoken craftily; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 “Dhogi opongʼ gi kwongʼ kod weche makech.”
whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 “Tiendegi reto kadhi chwero remo;
their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 kethruok kod masira ni kamoro amora ma gidhiyoe,
destruction and misery are in their ways.
17 kendo ok gingʼeyo yo makelo kwe.”
And they have not known the way of peace:
18 “Ok giluoro Nyasaye kata matin.”
there is not the fear of God before their eyes.”
19 To koro wangʼeyo ni gimoro amora ma Chik wacho, owacho ni joma ni e bwo chik, mondo ji duto olingʼ thi, kendo buch Nyasaye olo piny duto.
Now we know that whatsoever things the law saith, it speaks to those who are under the law: that every mouth might be sealed up, and all the world become criminal before God.
20 Kuom mano, onge ngʼama noket kare e nyime kuom timo gik ma Chik owacho, to kuom Chik ema dhano ngʼeyoe kethone.
Wherefore by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified before God: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 To koro tim makare mar Nyasaye ma ok otenore kuom chik, oseelore, mana kaka Ndiko mag Musa gi Jonabi nyiso.
But now distinct from the law the righteousness of God is manifest, receiving testimony from the law and the prophets;
22 Ngima makareni mar Nyasaye, yudore e yor yie kuom Yesu Kristo ne ji duto moyie. Onge pogruok;
the righteousness of God indeed by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all that believe: for there is no difference:
23 nimar ji duto oseketho kendo girem kuom duongʼ mar Nyasaye,
for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 to iketogi kare nono kuom ngʼwonone, nikech warruok ma nobiro kuom Kristo Yesu.
justified freely by his grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus:
25 Nyasaye nochiwe kaka misango mar golo richo, nikech yie kuom rembe. Ne otimo ma mondo onyis timne makare, nikech e kinde motelo, Nyasaye ne ok odewo richo mane ji osetimo nikech kechne.
whom God hath proposed as the propitiatory sacrifice through faith in his blood, in demonstration of his justice for the remission of past sins, through the patience of God;
26 Notimo kamano mondo onyis ratiro e ndalogi ni en owuon en kare, kendo ni oketo kare joma nigi yie kuom Yesu.
for a demonstration of his justice at this present time: that he might be just, though justifying him who is of the faith of Jesus.
27 Ere gima ngʼato disungrene? Onge gimoro nikech sunga osegol oko chuth. Ogole e yor timo gima chik dwaro koso? Ooyo, ogole e yor yie.
Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No: but by the law of faith.
28 Nikech gima wangʼeyo en ni ngʼato iketo kare kuom yie to ok kuom rito Chik.
We conclude therefore that by faith a man is justified, without works of law.
29 Koso dibed ni Nyasaye en Nyasach jo-Yahudi kendgi? Donge en Nyasach joma ok jo-Yahudi bende? Ee, en mar ogendini mamoko bende,
Is he the God of the Jews only, and is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, verily, of the Gentiles also:
30 nikech Nyasaye en achiel kende kendo obiro keto kare joma oter nyangu kuom yie, mana kaka otimo ne joma ok oter nyangu bende e yor yie achielno.
since it is one God who will justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.
31 Koso uparo ni ka wapuonjo yie kamano, to wamiyo Chik bedo maonge gi tich? Ooyo, ok kamano ngangʼ! Koro eka waketo Chik bedo motegno.
Do we then abolish the law through faith? God forbid: but on the contrary, we give the law stability.
