< Zaburi 78 >
1 Maskil mar Asaf. Chiknauru itu, yaye un joga, winjuru weche mawuok e dhoga.
A maskil of Asaph. My people, attend to my teaching: bend your ears to the words of my mouth,
2 Abiro yawo dhoga mondo awuo gi ngeche, ee, abiro hulo gik mopondo ma wuoyo kuom gik mane otimore chon gi lala.
as I open my mouth in a poem on the riddling story of the past.
3 Gik ma wasewinjo kendo ma wangʼeyo, mane wuonewa onyisowa.
What we have heard and known, and what our ancestors have told us,
4 Ok wabi pandogi ne nyithindgi; to wabiro hulogi ne tiengʼ mabiro timbe mipako mag Jehova Nyasaye, gi tekone kod gik miwuoro mosetimo.
we will not hide from their children. We will tell to the next generation the praises and might of the Lord, and the wonders that he has done.
5 Ne ogolo chike ne joka Jakobo kendo noguro chik e piny Israel, chike mane omiyo kwerewa mondo opuonj nyithindgi,
He set up a testimony in Jacob, a law he appointed in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to make known to their children,
6 mondo tiengʼ mabiro ongʼegi, koda ka nyithindo mapok onywol, kendo gin bende ginyis nyithindgi.
that the next generation should know it, that the children yet to be born should arise and tell their children;
7 Eka mondo mi giket genogi kuom Nyasaye kendo kik wigi wil gi gik mosetimo, to mondo girit chikene.
that in God they might put their confidence, and not forget God’s works; but that they might keep his commandments,
8 Ne ok ginyal chalo gi kweregi; mane tiengʼ ma tokgi tek kendo ma jongʼanyo, ma chunjegi ne ok ochiwore ne Nyasaye kendo ne ok luwe gi adiera.
and not be like their ancestors, a generation defiant and stubborn, a generation with heart unsteady, and spirit unfaithful towards God.
9 Kata ka jo-Efraim nomanore gi gige lweny, to negiringo lweny.
Ephraimites, armed bowmen, turned back in the day of battle.
10 Ne ok girito singruok mar Nyasaye kendo ne gidagi dak ka giluwo chik Nyasaye.
They did not keep God’s covenant, they refused to walk in his law.
11 Wigi nowil gi gik mane osetimo, ranyisi mane osenyisogi.
They forgot what he had done, and the wonders he had shown them.
12 Ne otimo honni ka wuonegi neno e gwengʼ mar Zoan, e piny Misri.
He did wonders before their ancestors in the country of Zoan in Egypt.
13 Ne omiyo nam opogore diere ariyo mi nomiyo gikadho kendo nomiyo pi ochungʼ molingʼ thi ka ohinga.
Through the sea which he split he brought them, making waters stand up like a heap;
14 Ne otayogi kod bor polo godiechiengʼ kendo giler moa e mach otieno duto.
he led them by day with a cloud, all the night with a light of fire.
15 Ne otucho lwanda e thim kendo nomiyogi pi mogundho ka nembe;
From the rocks which he split in the wilderness, he gave them to drink as of ocean’s abundance.
16 bende nomiyo aore obubni kawuok e lwanda kama obarore mi pi nomol piny mana ka aora.
He brought streams out of the rock, and made water run down like rivers.
17 To eka pod negidhi mana nyime ka gitimo richo e nyime ka gingʼanyo e thim ne Nyasaye Man Malo Moloyo.
Yet they still went on sinning against him, they defied the Most High in the desert.
18 Ne gitemo Nyasaye ka gingʼeyo, kuom kete mondo omigi chiemo mane gigombo.
They wilfully challenged God, demanding the food that they longed for.
19 Ne giwuoyo marach kuom Nyasaye kagiwacho ni, “Nyasaye bende nyalo chano mesa e nyimwa e thim ka?
‘Is God able,’ such was their challenge, ‘to spread in the desert a table?
20 Kane ogoyo lwanda to pi nothinyore oko kendo aore nochako mol mogundho. To chiemo bende domiwa adier? Ringʼo bende onyalo kelo mi opog ne joge adier?”
From the rock that he struck there gushed water, and torrents that overflowed; but can he also give bread, or provide his people with meat?’
21 Kane Jehova Nyasaye owinjo gi ite, iye nowangʼ ahinya, mi mach mare notuk kuom joka Jakobo, kendo mirimbe mager nobiro kuom jo-Israel,
When the Lord heard this, he was furious, and fire was kindled on Jacob, anger flared up against Israel.
22 nimar ne ok giyie kuom Nyasaye kata geno kuom resruok mare.
For they put no trust in God, no confidence in his help.
23 To eka pod nogolo chik ne kor polo malo kendo noyawo dhoudi mag polo;
So he summoned the clouds above; and, opening the doors of heaven,
24 ne oolo mana piny ka koth mondo ji ocham, adier, nomiyogi chiemb polo.
he rained manna upon them for food, and grain of heaven he gave them.
25 Ji nochamo makati mar malaike, kendo nooronegi kit chiemo duto mane ginyalo chamo.
Everyone ate the bread of angels; he sent them food to the full.
26 Ne ogonyo yamb ugwe moa e polo, kendo nogolo yamb milambo gi tekone.
He launched the east wind in the heavens, and guided the south by his power.
27 Nolwaro ringʼo piny kuomgi ka buru, adier, winy mafuyo nolwar kuomgi ka kwoyo manie dho nam.
He rained meat upon them like dust, winged bird like the sand of the sea.
28 Nomiyo winyogo olwar piny nyaka ei kambi mine gilworo hembegi duto koni gi koni.
In the midst of their camp he dropped it, all around their tents.
29 Negichiemo mi chiemo otamogi tieko, nimar nomiyogi gima ne chunygi gombo.
They ate and were more than filled; he had brought them the thing they desired.
30 To kane pok gitieko chiembgi mar gombono, chutho, ka chiemo ne pod opongʼo dhogi,
But the thing they desired became loathsome: while their food was still in their mouths,
31 mirima mager mar Nyasaye nogore kuomgi, mi nomiyo jogi maroteke otho, kendo nopielo yawuot Israel ma pod tindo piny.
the wrath of God rose against them. He slew the stoutest among them, and laid low the young men of Israel.
32 To kata obedo ni magi duto nosetimore, pod negidhi mana nyime gitimo richo; pod ne ok giyie kuome, kata obedo ni ne osetimo ranyisi mathoth e diergi.
Yet for all this they sinned yet more, and refused to believe in his wonders.
33 Omiyo nomiyo ngimagi orumo kaonge ber kendo higni mag-gi nopongʼ gi masiche mabwogo ji.
So he ended their days in a breath, and their years in sudden dismay.
34 E kinde moro amora mane Nyasaye okumogie, to ne gimanye mine gilokore ka gidware gi siso.
When he slew them, then they sought after him, they turned and sought God with diligence.
35 Negiparo ni Nyasaye ema ne en lwanda margi, kendo ni Nyasaye Man Malo Moloyo ema ne en Jawargi.
They remembered that God was their rock, and the Most High God their redeemer.
36 To kata kamano ne gichare achara gi dhogi, ka giwuonde gi lewgi.
But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
37 Nimar chunygi ne ok omoko kuome, kendo ne ok gilu singruokne kuom adier.
Their heart was not steady with him, they were faithless to his covenant.
38 To en, kaka en ngʼama kecho ji, noweyonegi kethogi, kendo ne ok otiekogi. Kinde ka kinde nogengʼo mirimbe kendo ne ok otoyo mirimbe duto kuomgi.
But he is full of pity: he pardons sin and destroys not. Often he turns his anger away, without stirring his wrath at all.
39 Noparo kaka ne gin mana dhano adhana machalo yamo makalo kendo ok chak duogi.
So he remembered that they were but flesh, breath that passes and does not return.
40 Mano kaka ne gingʼanyone e thim nyadi mangʼeny kendo negimiye chuny lit e piny motwo!
But how often they rebelled in the desert, and caused him grief in the wilderness,
41 Ne gitemo Nyasaye kinde mangʼeny, kendo negimiyo Jal Maler mar Israel osin.
tempting God again and again, provoking the Holy One of Israel.
42 Ne ok giparo tekone, kendo ne ok giparo odiechiengʼ mane owarogi e lwet jasigu,
They did not remember his strength, nor the day he redeemed from the foe,
43 odiechiengʼ mane onyiso e lela honni mage e piny Misri kane otimo ranyisino e gwengʼ mar Zoan.
how he set his signs in Egypt, in the country of Zoan his wonders.
44 Noloko aoregi remo mi koro ne ok ginyal modho pi moa e aoregi.
He turned their canals into blood, their streams undrinkable.
45 Ne ooro bonyo mag lwangʼni mane omwonyogi, gi ogwende mane oketho pinygi.
He sent forth flies, which devoured them; frogs, too, which destroyed them.
46 Ne ochiwo chambgi ne ongogo, chambgi mosechiek ne bonyo.
Their crops he gave to the caterpillar, and the fruits of their toil to the locust.
47 Ne oketho olembegi mag mzabibu gi pe, kod yiendegi mag ngʼowu gi yamo mangʼich.
He slew their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with frost.
48 Ne ochiwo jambgi ne pe, kendo nomiyo dhogegi polo ogoyo.
He delivered their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to bolts of fire.
49 Ne oolo kuomgi mirimbe maliet, kokecho kendo iye owangʼ kendo oger; oganda malaike ma jonek.
He let loose his hot anger among them, fury and wrath and distress, a band of destroying angels.
50 Ne olosone mirimbe yo maluwo, kendo ne ok okechogi e tho, to ne ojwangʼogi, mondo tho otiekgi.
He cleared a path for his anger, did not spare them from death, but gave them over to pestilence.
51 Ne onego kach jo-Misri duto, mana olemo mokwongo chiek mag dhano e hembe mag Ham.
He struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the first fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52 To joge to nogolo oko mana ka kweth, kendo notelonegi ka rombe koyoro kodgi thim.
He led forth his people like sheep, he was guide to his flock in the desert.
53 Ne otayogi maber omiyo ne gionge gi luoro, to wasikgi to ne nam omwonyo.
Securely he led them, and free from fear, while their foes were drowned in the sea.
54 Kamano e kaka ne okelogi nyaka e tongʼ mar pinje maler, nyaka ne gitundo e piny motimo gode, ma lwete ma korachwich nosekawo.
To his holy realm he brought them, to the mountain his right hand had purchased.
55 Ne oriembo ogendini e nyimgi kendo nomiyogi lopgi kaka girkeni margi, mi nomiyo dhout Israel odak e miechgi giwegi.
He drove out the nations before them, and allotted their land for possession, and their tents for Israel to live in.
56 To kata kamano ne gitemo Nyasaye, mine gingʼanyone Nyasaye Man Malo Moloyo; ka gidagi rito chikene.
Yet they tempted and angered the Most High God, they did not observe his decrees.
57 Mana kaka wuonegi ne ok giwinje kendo ne ok gin jo-adiera kendo ne gichalo atungʼ mobam ma ok nyal gen.
They drew back, false like their ancestors; they failed like a treacherous bow.
58 Ne giwangʼo iye gi kuondegi motingʼore malo, kendo ne gichiewo nyiego mare gi nyisechegi mane giloso.
Their shrines stirred him to anger, their idols moved him to jealousy.
59 Kane Nyasaye owinjogi, iye nowangʼ ahinya, kendo nokwedo jo-Israel chuth.
When God heard of this, he was furious, and he spurned Israel utterly.
60 Ne ojwangʼo Hemb Romo mane ni Shilo, mane en hema mane oguro owuon e dier ji.
He abandoned his home in Shiloh, the tent he had pitched among people.
61 Nooro Sandug Muma e twech, mi duongʼne maler nodhi e lwet wasigu.
He gave his strength up to captivity, his glory to the hands of the foe.
62 Nochiwo joge ne ligangla, kendo nokecho ahinya gi girkeni mare.
He gave his people to the sword, he was furious with his own.
63 Mach notieko yawuotgi matindo, kendo nyigi ne ok owernegi wende kisera;
Fire devoured their young men, and their maidens had no marriage-song.
64 jodologi ne onegi, kendo mondegi ne ywak otamo.
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows could not weep.
65 Eka Ruoth Nyasaye nochiew ka gima oa e nindo, mana kaka ngʼato chiewo, bangʼ madho divai mangʼeny.
Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a warrior flushed with wine;
66 Ne oriembo wasike gi goch, kendo nomiyo giyudo wichkuot mosiko.
and he beat back his foes, putting them to perpetual scorn.
67 Ne odagi hembe mag Josef, bende ne ok oyiero dhood joka Efraim,
He disowned the tent of Joseph, he rejected the tribe of Ephraim;
68 to dhood joka Juda ema ne oyiero, ee, noyiero mana Got Sayun, mane ohero.
but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves.
69 Ne ogero kare maler mar lemo, ka gode maboyo, kendo mana ka piny mane oguro nyaka chiengʼ.
And he built like the heights his sanctuary, like the earth which he founded forever.
70 Ne oyiero Daudi jatichne, kendo nogole e abich rombe;
And he chose David his servant, taking him from the sheepfolds.
71 nogole e tij rito rombe mokele mondo okwa joge ma nyikwa Jakobo, mondo okwa Israel girkeni mare.
From the mother-ewes he brought him, to be shepherd to Jacob his people, and to Israel his inheritance.
72 Kuom mano Daudi nokwayogi gi chuny makare kendo notelonegi, gi lwedo mongʼith.
With upright heart did he shepherd them, and with skilful hands did he guide them.
