1 Kuom jatend wer. Maskil mar yawuot Kora. Yaye Nyasaye, wasewinjo gi itwa; kendo kwerewa osenyisowa, gik mane itimo e ndalogi, ndalo machon gi lala.
To the Overseer. — By sons of Korah. An Instruction. O God, with our ears we have heard, Our fathers have recounted to us, The work Thou didst work in their days, In the days of old.
2 Ne iriembo ogendini mamoko gi lweti iwuon kendo ne iguro kwerewa kargi; ne itieko ogendinigo mi imiyo kwerewa okar.
Thou, [with] Thy hand, nations hast dispossessed. And Thou dost plant them. Thou afflictest peoples, and sendest them away.
3 Ne ok giloyo pinyno gi liganglagi kendo kata bedegi bende ne ok okelonigi loch; to mana badi iwuon ma korachwich, kod ler mar wangʼi ema nomiyo gilocho nimar ne iherogi.
For, not by their sword Possessed they the land, And their arm gave not salvation to them, But Thy right hand, and Thine arm, And the light of Thy countenance, Because Thou hadst accepted them.
4 In e Ruodha kendo Nyasacha, magolo chik mondo Jakobo olochi.
Thou [art] He, my king, O God, Command the deliverances of Jacob.
5 Wasiro wasikwa nikech in, waloyo joma kedo kodwa kuom nyingi.
By Thee our adversaries we do push, By Thy name tread down our withstanders,
6 Atungʼ mara ok ageno kuome, liganglana bende ok mi alochi;
For, not in my bow do I trust, And my sword doth not save me.
7 to in ema imiyowa loch ewi wasikwa, imiyo joma kedo kodwa neno wichkuot.
For Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And those hating us Thou hast put to shame.
8 Sungawa ni kuom Nyasaye odiechiengʼ duto, kendo wabiro pako nyingi nyaka chiengʼ. (Sela)
In God we have boasted all the day, And Thy name to the age we thank. (Selah)
9 To koro isedagiwa kendo isedwokowa piny; tinde ok idhi e kedo gi jolwenjwa.
In anger Thou hast cast off and causest us to blush, And goest not forth with our hosts.
10 Ne imiyo waringo e nyim wasigu kendo joma kedo kodwa oseyakowa.
Thou causest us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.
11 Ne ijwangʼowa mondo ongamwa ka rombe kendo isekeyowa e dier pinje.
Thou makest us food like sheep, And among nations Thou hast scattered us.
12 Ne iuso jogi nono maonge ohala mane iyudo kuom usogi.
Thou sellest Thy people — without wealth, And hast not become great by their price.
13 Isemiyo wadoko joma iyanyo e dier joma odak butwa, wan joma inyiero kendo ma ocha gi joma olworowa.
Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.
14 Isemiyo olokwa ngero e dier ogendini; kendo ogendini kino wigi konenowa.
Thou makest us a simile among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.
15 Wichkuot mara osiko neno e wangʼa odiechiengʼ duto, kendo lela wangʼa wichkuot oumo.
All the day my confusion [is] before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me.
16 Seche ma joma ochaya kendo yanya dirona weche, nikech jasigu oramo ni nyaka ochul kuor.
Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.
17 Magi duto notimorena, kata obedo ni wiwa ne pok owil kodi, kata riambo ne singruok mari.
All this met us, and we did not forget Thee, Nor have we dealt falsely in Thy covenant.
18 Chunywa ne pok oa moweyi; kendo tiendewa ne pok okier moweyo yori.
We turn not backward our heart, Nor turn aside doth our step from Thy path.
19 To pod ne igoyowa agoya mimiyo ondiegi olawowa; kendo ne iumowa gi mudho mandiwa.
But Thou hast smitten us in a place of dragons, And dost cover us over with death-shade.
20 Ka dipo ni wiwa nosewil gi Nyasachwa kata ni ne waseyaro lwetwa ne nyasaye moro ma wendo,
If we have forgotten the name of our God, And spread our hands to a strange God,
21 donge Nyasaye dine ofwenyo wachno, nikech ongʼeyo gik malingʼ-lingʼ manie chuny?
Doth not God search out this? For He knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 To nikech in, tho ochomowa odiechiengʼ duto; ikwanowa kaka rombo mitero kar yengʼo.
Surely, for Thy sake we have been slain all the day, Reckoned as sheep of the slaughter.
23 Chiew, yaye Ruoth Nyasaye! Inindo nangʼo? Yaw wangʼi inen! Kik ikwedwa nyaka chiengʼ.
Stir up — why dost Thou sleep, O Lord? Awake, cast us not off for ever.
24 Ere gima omiyo ipandonwa wangʼi momiyo wiyi owil kod pek ma wan-go kod chandruokwa?
Why Thy face hidest Thou? Thou forgettest our afflictions and our oppression,
25 Osedwokwa piny nyaka e buru, dendwa omoko piny e lowo.
For bowed to the dust hath our soul, Cleaved to the earth hath our belly.
26 Aa malo mondo ikonywa; reswa nikech herani ma ok rem.
Arise, a help to us, And ransom us for thy kindness' sake.
