1 Wuoda, ka isechiwo singo ni jabathi, kata ka isingori ni inichul ni ngʼat mikia gope,
My son, if thou hast become surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand for a stranger,
2 ka diponi omaki nikech gima ne iwacho, mi idwodori kod weche mane oa e dhogi,
thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3 to tim kama, wuoda, mondo ibed thuolo, nikech isepodho e lwet jabathi: Dhiyo kendo ibolri e nyime; bangʼe to ikwa jabathino oweyi thuolo!
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, since thou hast come into the hand of thy friend: go, humble thyself, and be urgent with thy friend.
4 Kik iwe nindo ohingi, kata ayula wangʼ oteri.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids:
5 To resri ibed thuolo, mana kaka mwanda mayombo jadwar, kata kaka winyo matony e obadho mar jamak winy.
deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 In janyawo, dhi ir biye; mondo ineye kendo ipar yoregi, mondo ibed mariek!
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise:
7 Biye onge jatelo kata jaloch kata ruoth,
which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 to kata kamano, gikano chiembgi e ndalo oro, kendo gichoko chiembgi e ndalo keyo.
provideth her bread in the summer, [and] gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 In jasamuoyo, nyaka karangʼo ma ibiro bedo kinindo aninda kanyo? Karangʼo mibiro chiewoe mondo ia e nindo?
How long, sluggard, wilt thou lie down? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Nindo matin, ayula wangʼ matin, kwakruok matin kiyweyo,
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest!
11 to dhier biro monji ka janjore kendo chan ka jalweny momanore.
So shall thy poverty come as a roving plunderer, and thy penury as an armed man.
12 Ngʼat mamono kendo jaricho mawuotho awuotha kowacho weche mogak,
A man of Belial, a wicked person, is he that goeth about with a perverse mouth;
13 oningʼo wangʼe, owuoyo gi tiendene ka ogoro piny, kendo ogwelo ji gi lith lwetene,
he winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14 ochano richo kod miriambo ei chunye, kinde duto okelo miero.
deceits are in his heart; he deviseth mischief at all times, he soweth discords.
15 Kuom mano, masira biro make maloye apoya nono; notieke apoya nono, maonge resruok.
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly: in a moment shall he be broken, and without remedy.
16 Nitie gik moko auchiel ma Jehova Nyasaye mon-go, chutho gin gik moko abiriyo ma ok more:
These six [things] doth Jehovah hate, yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 wenge mag sunga, lep mariambo, lwedo machwero remo maonge ketho,
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18 chuny machano chenro maricho, tiende maringo kadhi e richo,
a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations; feet that are swift in running to mischief;
19 jahang wach mawacho miriambo kendo ngʼatno makelo miero e kind jowete.
a false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discords among brethren.
20 Wuoda, rit chike wuonu kendo kik iwe puonj minu.
My son, observe thy father's commandment, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
21 Kan-gi ka ipandogi e chunyi nyaka chiengʼ; twegi e ngʼuti motegno.
bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck:
22 Ka iwuotho, to gibiro chiki; to ka inindo, to giniriti; to ka ichiewo, to giniwuo kodi.
when thou walkest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 Nikech chikegi gin taya, to puonjni en ler, kendo kwer mikwerogo ngʼato kuom gima otimo marach kelo mana ngima,
For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24 mamiyo ibedo mabor gi dhako mandhaga kaachiel gi lep mayom mar dhako mabayo.
to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 Kik ber mare mineno gi wangʼ omi chunyi gombe kata weye oywayi kolombi gi wangʼe.
Lust not after her beauty in thy heart, neither let her take thee with her eyelids;
26 Nikech ochot nyalo miyo ibed matin maromo gi nengo makati, to dhako ma jachode biro tieko ngimani.
for by means of a whorish woman [a man is brought] to a loaf of bread, and another's wife doth hunt for the precious soul.
27 Bende ngʼato nyalo tingʼo mach e kore, ma lepe ok owangʼ?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his garments not be burned?
28 Bende ngʼato nyalo wuotho e mirni mar mach maliel, ma ok tiendene owangʼ?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 Ma e kaka ngʼat ma terore gi chi ngʼat machielo chalo; ngʼato angʼata ma omule ok notony ma ok okum.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife: whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30 Ji ok cha jakuo kokwalo chiemo mondo ogaago kech kodenyo.
They do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry:
31 Kata kamano ka omake, to nyaka ochul nyadibiriyo, kata obedo ni en nengo mapek kuome makawo mwandu mag ode duto.
and if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32 To ngʼat ma terore gi chi ngʼat machielo onge gi rieko, ngʼat matimo kamano ketho ngimane owuon.
Whoso committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33 Pokne en chwat kod wichkuot kendo nobed gi wichkuot ma ok norum.
A wound and contempt shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 Nimar nyiego mamako chwor dhakono nyalo kelo tho, omiyo ka ochulo kuor, to nobed maonge ngʼwono kata matin.
For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance;
35 Ok enoyie chudo moro amora; ok enoyie asoya kata obedo ni en gima duongʼ manade.
he will not regard any ransom, neither will he rest content though thou multipliest [thy] gifts.
