< Ngeche 5 >
1 Wuoda, chik iti malongʼo ne riekona, mondo iwinj maber puonj mago mopondo,
[My] son, attend to my wisdom, and apply your ear to my words;
2 eka isik kingʼeyo pogo tiend weche kendo dhogi norit rieko.
that you may keep good understanding, and the discretion of my lips gives you a charge. Give no heed to a worthless woman;
3 Nimar dho jachode wacho weche mamit ka mor kich, kendo wuoyone yom maloyo moo;
for honey drops from the lips of a harlot, who for a season pleases your palate:
4 to gikone okech ka kedhno kendo obith ka ligangla ma dhoge ariyo.
but afterwards you will find her more bitter than gall, and sharper than a two-edged sword.
5 Tiendene ochomo kar tho, to ondamo mage ochiko bur tir. (Sheol )
For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death; and her steps are not established. (Sheol )
6 Ok opar ngangʼ yor ngima; yorene ogondore, to ok ongʼeyo kamano.
For she goes not upon the paths of life; but her ways are slippery, and not easily known.
7 Omiyo koro un yawuota, winjauru, kik uwe gima awachonu.
Now then, [my] son, hear me, and make not my words of none effect.
8 Bed mabor gi dhako ma kamano, kendo kik idhi machiegni gi dhoode,
Remove your way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house:
9 nono to jomoko nono ema inimi tekreni maber moloyo kendo higni magi norum e lwet joma ger,
lest you give away your life to others, and your substance to the merciless:
10 nono to jomoko nono, ema nocham mwanduni kendo tichni matek nokony od ngʼat moro nono.
lest strangers be filled with your strength, and your labors come into the houses of strangers;
11 To e giko mar ngimani inichur achura, ka ringri gi dendi chamore rumo.
And you repent at last, when the flesh of your body is consumed,
12 To iniwachi niya, “Mano kaka nasin gi puonj mar rieko! Mano kaka chunya nokwedo siem mane omiya kuom gik mane atimo ma ok nikare!
and you shall say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart avoided reproofs!
13 Ne ok anyal winjo kendo timo weche jopuonjna, kata chiko ita ni jopuonjna.
I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me, neither did I apply mine ear.
14 Asechopo e giko mar kethruok marach e dier chokruok mangima.”
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Modh pi moa e dapigi iwuon, pi mamol moa e sokoni iwuon.
Drink waters out of your own vessels, and out of your own springing wells.
16 Bende ber mondo soknigi omol ka oo oko e yore mag dala, kata aoregi mag pi e kuonde chokruok manie dier dala?
Let not waters out of your fountain be spilt by you, but let your waters go into your streets.
17 Ne ni gibedo magi iwuon kendo kik iriwgi gi joma galagala.
Let them be only your own, and let no stranger partake with you.
18 Sokoni mondo ogwedhi, kendo ibed mamor gi chiegi mane ikendo ka in wuowi.
Let your fountain of water be [truly] your own; and rejoice with the wife of your youth.
19 Ojaber ka mwanda, kendo olongʼo ka nyakech, thundene mad romi kinde duto, mad herane omaki moloyo.
Let [your] loving hart and your graceful colt company with you, and let her be considered your own, and be with you at all times; for ravished with her love you shall be greatly increased.
20 Wuoda, ere gima omiyo jachode dikaw paroni? Ere gima omiyo chie ngʼato nono dilombi?
Be not intimate with a strange woman, neither fold yourself in the arms of a woman not your own.
21 Yore mag dhano nenore ratiro e nyim Jehova Nyasaye, kendo onono kamoro amora ma odhiyoe.
For the ways of a man are before the eyes of God, and he looks on all his paths.
22 Timbe mamono mag ngʼama jaricho obedone obadho mamake, tonde mag richone tweye matek.
Iniquities ensnare a man, and every one is bound in the chains of his own sins.
23 Obiro tho nikech ok oyie mondo orieye, obayo yo nikech fupe maduongʼ.
Such a man dies with the uninstructed; and he is cast forth from the abundance of his own substance, and has perished through folly.
