< Ngeche 5 >

1 Wuoda, chik iti malongʼo ne riekona, mondo iwinj maber puonj mago mopondo,
MY son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 eka isik kingʼeyo pogo tiend weche kendo dhogi norit rieko.
That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 Nimar dho jachode wacho weche mamit ka mor kich, kendo wuoyone yom maloyo moo;
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 to gikone okech ka kedhno kendo obith ka ligangla ma dhoge ariyo.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
5 Tiendene ochomo kar tho, to ondamo mage ochiko bur tir. (Sheol h7585)
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. (Sheol h7585)
6 Ok opar ngangʼ yor ngima; yorene ogondore, to ok ongʼeyo kamano.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Omiyo koro un yawuota, winjauru, kik uwe gima awachonu.
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Bed mabor gi dhako ma kamano, kendo kik idhi machiegni gi dhoode,
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 nono to jomoko nono ema inimi tekreni maber moloyo kendo higni magi norum e lwet joma ger,
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 nono to jomoko nono, ema nocham mwanduni kendo tichni matek nokony od ngʼat moro nono.
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 To e giko mar ngimani inichur achura, ka ringri gi dendi chamore rumo.
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 To iniwachi niya, “Mano kaka nasin gi puonj mar rieko! Mano kaka chunya nokwedo siem mane omiya kuom gik mane atimo ma ok nikare!
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 Ne ok anyal winjo kendo timo weche jopuonjna, kata chiko ita ni jopuonjna.
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 Asechopo e giko mar kethruok marach e dier chokruok mangima.”
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Modh pi moa e dapigi iwuon, pi mamol moa e sokoni iwuon.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Bende ber mondo soknigi omol ka oo oko e yore mag dala, kata aoregi mag pi e kuonde chokruok manie dier dala?
Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Ne ni gibedo magi iwuon kendo kik iriwgi gi joma galagala.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
18 Sokoni mondo ogwedhi, kendo ibed mamor gi chiegi mane ikendo ka in wuowi.
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Ojaber ka mwanda, kendo olongʼo ka nyakech, thundene mad romi kinde duto, mad herane omaki moloyo.
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 Wuoda, ere gima omiyo jachode dikaw paroni? Ere gima omiyo chie ngʼato nono dilombi?
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Yore mag dhano nenore ratiro e nyim Jehova Nyasaye, kendo onono kamoro amora ma odhiyoe.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 Timbe mamono mag ngʼama jaricho obedone obadho mamake, tonde mag richone tweye matek.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 Obiro tho nikech ok oyie mondo orieye, obayo yo nikech fupe maduongʼ.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
