1 Divai en jajaro to kongʼo en koko; ngʼat motelne kodgi onge rieko.
Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whoever is deceived by it is not wise.
2 Mirimb ruoth chalo gi ruto mar sibuor; ngʼat momiyo obedo gi gero lalo ngimane.
The fear of a king [is] as the roaring of a lion: [whoever] provoketh him to anger sinneth [against] his own soul.
3 Enobed luor maduongʼ ne ngʼatno ma dagi dhawo, to joma ofuwo duto ohero dhawo.
[It is] an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4 Jasamuoyo ok pur puothe e kinde mowinjore; omiyo e kinde mar keyo omanyo, to ok oyud gimoro.
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; [therefore] shall he beg in harvest, and [have] nothing.
5 Dwaro mar chuny dhano chalo gi pi matut, to ngʼat man-gi winjo twomogi.
Counsel in the heart of man [is like] deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Ji mangʼeny wacho ni gin gihera ma adiera; to ngʼat ma ja-adiera, en ngʼa ma diyude?
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7 Ngʼat makare nigi ngima ma ok ocha; nyithinde nigi gweth bangʼe.
The just [man] walketh in his integrity: his children [are] blessed after him.
8 Ka ruoth obedo e kome mondo ongʼad bura; opiedho weche maricho duto gi wangʼe.
A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9 En ngʼa manyalo wacho niya, “Aserito chunya maler; aler kendo aonge richo?”
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10 Rapim ma ok nikare gi pimo ma ok kare, Jehova Nyasaye mon kodgi duto.
Divers weights, [and] divers measures, both of them [are] alike abomination to the LORD.
11 Kata mana nyathi ingʼeyo gi timbene, omiyo ingʼeyo ka kite obidhore kata ni kare.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work [is] pure, and whether [it is] right.
12 It mawinjo gi wangʼ maneno, Jehova Nyasaye ema osechweyo gik moko ariyogo.
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13 Kik iher nindo nono to ibiro bedo jachan, bed kineno to ok ibi chando chiemo.
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thy eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
14 Jangʼiewo wacho niya, “Ok ber ngangʼ, ok ber ngangʼ!” To bangʼe owuok odhiyo ka osungore ni ongʼiewo gi nengo mayot.
[It is] naught, [it is] naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone, then he boasteth.
15 Dhahabu nitie, kendo kite ma nengogi tek bende nitie mogundho, to dhok mawacho weche mag ngʼeyo gin kaka mula mabeyo mayudo tek.
There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge [are] a precious jewel.
16 Kaw law ngʼat mochungʼne ngʼat mokia kaka singo; mak gino mosingorego, ka otimo kamano ni dhako majabayo.
Take his garment that is surety [for] a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
17 Chiemo moyud e yo ma ok kare mit ne ngʼato, to achien omuodore mana ka kuoyo.
Bread of deceit [is] sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18 Los chenro ka ikonyori gi ngʼado rieko; ka ichako lweny to dwar ikruok maber.
[Every] purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19 Fuongʼo wach ketho genruok; omiyo tangʼ ni ngʼato ma wuoyo mathoth.
He that goeth about [as] a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
20 Ka ngʼato okwongʼo wuon mare kata min mare, to ngimane norum mana ka taya motho e mudho molil.
Whoever curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21 Mwandu moyud motelo e yo mayot ok bi bedo konyruok e kinde machien.
An inheritance [may be] gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end of it shall not be blessed.
22 Kik iwach niya, “Abiro chulo kuor kuom rachni motimna!” Bed kirito Jehova Nyasaye to obiro resi.
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; [but] wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
23 Jehova Nyasaye mon gi rapim mag miriambo, kendo rapim ma ok kare ok miye mor.
Divers weights [are] an abomination to the LORD; and a false balance [is] not good.
24 Okange mag ngʼato ichiko gi Jehova Nyasaye. Ere kaka ngʼato nyalo ngʼeyo yore owuon?
Man's goings [are] of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25 En obadho ne ngʼato masingo gimoro ka ok oparo, to achien eka oparo singruokne.
[It is] a snare to the man [who] devoureth [that which is] holy, and after vows to make inquiry.
26 Ruoth mariek riembo joma timbegi richo; okumogi ma ok okechogi.
A wise king scatterreth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
27 Taya mar Jehova Nyasaye manyo chuny dhano, kendo omanyo chunye ma iye.
The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28 Hera kod adiera miyo ruoth bedo gi kwe, nikech hera, lochne bedo motegno.
Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy.
29 Sunga ma yawuowi nigo e teko margi, to lwar en duongʼ ne jodongo.
The glory of young men [is] their strength: and the beauty of old men [is] the gray head.
30 Goch kod adhonde pwodho richo, to chwat loso maler chuny maiye.
The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so [do] stripes the inward parts of the belly.
