< Ngeche 19 >

1 Ber bedo jachan ma wuodhe ok nyal cha, moloyo ngʼat mofuwo ma lewe timo richo.
Better is a poor [man] that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Ok ber bedo gi gombo maonge gi ngʼeyo, kata bedo ka irikni kae to ibayo yo.
Also that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.
3 Fuwo mar ngʼato owuon ketho ngimane; to bende chunye bedo mager gi Jehova Nyasaye.
The folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.
4 Mwandu kelo osiepe mangʼeny, to osiep ngʼat ma jachan ringe.
Wealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.
5 Janeno ma ja-miriambo ok notony ma ok okum, to ngʼatno malando miriambo ok nobed thuolo.
A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
6 Ji mangʼeny temo mondo oyud pwoch kuom ruoth, to ngʼato ka ngʼato bedo osiep ngʼat machiwo mich.
Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.
7 Ngʼat ma jachan wedene duto kwede, osiepene to noringe maromo nadi! Kata bed notemo sayogi onge kama doyudgie.
All the brethren of a poor [man] hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth [them] with words, — they are not [to be found].
8 Ngʼatno moyudo rieko ohero chunye owuon, to ngʼat mohero winjo wach dhi maber.
He that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 Janeno ma ja-miriambo ok notony ma ok okume, to ngʼatno malando miriambo biro lal nono.
A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
10 Ok en gima owinjore mondo ngʼat mofuwo odagi e ber, to en gima rach machalo nadi ka misumba ema omi loch kuom yawuot ruoth!
Good living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 Ngʼat mariek iye ok wangʼ piyo; oyudo duongʼ kuom weyo wach ma ok odewo ketho.
The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Gero mar ruoth chalo gi sibuor maruto, to ka omor kodi to ochalo gi tho manie wi lum.
The king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 Wuowi mofuwo kelone wuon mare masira, to dhako maralep chalo gi kodh ajiki.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 Ute kod mwandu gin girkeni miyudo kuom jonywol, to dhako mariek aa kuom Jehova Nyasaye.
House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.
15 Samuoyo kelo nindo matut, to ngʼat ma ja-mifwadhi bedo gi kech.
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 Ngʼatno morito chike Jehova Nyasaye kendo timo gik mopuonje biro dak amingʼa, to ngʼat mochayo chikene biro tho.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.
17 Ngʼat manyiso ngʼwono ne jochan, holo mana Jehova Nyasaye, obiro gwedhe kuom gik mosetimo.
He that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.
18 Kum wuodi, nikech mano e kama geno nitie; kik ibed e winjruok kuom gima nyalo kelone tho.
Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.
19 Ngʼat ma ja-mirima nyaka yud kum, kendo ka ikonye, to chuno ni nyaka itim kamano kendo.
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
20 Chik iti ka ingʼadoni rieko kendo rwak puonj, to giko ni inibed mariek.
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 Dhano nigi chenro mangʼeny e chunye, to dwaro mar Jehova Nyasaye ema timore.
Many are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.
22 Gima dhano dwaro en hera ma ok rum, ber bedo jachan moloyo bedo ja-miriambo.
The charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor [man] is better than a liar.
23 Luoro Jehova Nyasaye tero ji e ngima; eka ngʼato yweyo kodhil, ma ok omule gi chandruok.
The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life, and he [that hath it] shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.
24 Jasamuoyo luto lwete malal ei tawo; kendo ok onyal gole oko moduoge e dhoge!
A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.
25 Chwad jasunga mondo joma ngʼeyogi tin opuonjre; kwer ngʼat man-gi rieko, to obiro medo fwenyo tiend weche.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.
26 Ngʼat mamayo wuon mare kendo riembo min mare en wuowi makelo wichkuot kod dwanyruok.
He that ruineth [his] father and chaseth away [his] mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
27 Kidagi chiko iti ne puonj in wuoda, to ibiro bayo mabor kuom weche mag ngʼeyo.
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.
28 Janeno ma ja-jar ji ochayo adiera, to dho ngʼat ma timbene richo golo mana richo.
A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.
29 Kum oket mana ne jo-achaya, to chwat ne ngʼe joma ofuwo.
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of the foolish.
