Yahweh has made everything for its own end— yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Jehova Nyasaye odagi ji duto man-gi sunga e chunygi. Ngʼe ma malongʼo: Ok ginitony ni kum.
Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh; they shall certainly not be unpunished.
6 Nikech hera kod adiera ema omiyo richo otimne misango, kuom luoro Jehova Nyasaye miyo ngʼato kwedo richo.
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.
7 Ka yore ngʼato moro Jehova Nyasaye, to omiyo kata wasike dak kode gi kwe.
When a man’s ways please Yahweh, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Ber bedo gi matin kod tim makare, moloyo mangʼeny kod tim ma ok kare.
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.
9 E chuny dhano ochano yore, to Jehova Nyasaye ema telone ondamo mage.
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.
10 Ruoth wuoyo kaka chik mar Nyasaye dwaro, to dhoge ok onego ndhog bura makare.
Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth.
11 Rapim mopogore opogore makare aa kuom Jehova Nyasaye, to gik mipimogo manie mifuke gin meke moloso.
Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 Ruodhi mon gi timbe maricho, nikech kom mar loch obedo mana kuom tim makare.
It is an abomination for kings to do wrong, for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Ruodhi ohero joma wacho adiera kendo gigeno ngʼat mawacho adiera.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth.
14 Mirimb ruoth en jaote mar tho, to ngʼat mariek biro hoye.
The king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.
15 Ka wangʼ ruoth nenore mamor to nitiere ngima, ngʼwonone chalo gi rumbi mag koth e ndalo chwiri.
In the light of the king’s face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
16 To ber maromo nade yudo rieko moloyo dhahabu, yiero ngʼeyo tiend wach moloyo fedha!
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17 Yor ngʼat moriere tir kwedore gi richo; ngʼat manono yorene orito ngimane!
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Sunga kelo masira, chuny mar ngʼayi kelo chwanyruok.
Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.
19 Ber bedo gi chuny mobolore e dier jochan, moloyo pogo gik moyaki gi josunga.
It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.
20 Ngʼato angʼata mawinjo puonj dhi maber, to ojahawi ngʼatno moketo genone kuom Jehova Nyasaye.
He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed.
21 Ngʼat man-gi paro en ngʼat mariek, kendo weche mowacho gin mana puonj.
The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
22 Winjo wach en soko mar ngima ne jogo man kode, to fuwo kelo kum ne joma ofuwo.
Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.
23 Ngʼat mariek rito weche mawuok e dhoge, kendo wechene mowinjore kelo puonj makare.
The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
24 Weche mag mor chalo gi mor kich gimit ne chuny kendo gikelo ngima ni choke.
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 Nitie yo manenore ne dhano ni nikare, to gikone otero mana ngʼato e tho.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

The appetite of the laboring man labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.

A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.

A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.
29 Ngʼat ma ja-mahundu wuondo jabute mi otere e yorno ma ok ber.
A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.
30 Tangʼ gi ngʼat ma buonjo kodi nikech onyalo bet ni ochano timoni marach, ngʼatno maluwo dhoge ochomo timbe maricho.
One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
31 Lwar en osimbo mar duongʼ to iyude gi ngʼat man-gi ngima makare.
Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.
32 Ngʼat ma terore mos ber moloyo jalweny, ngʼat makweyo mirimbe ber moloyo ngʼat mamonjo dala maduongʼ.
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
33 Igoyo ombulu mondo ongʼe gima ditim, to kuom ngʼado weche duto Jehova Nyasaye ema tieko.
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh.
