< Ngeche 12 >
1 Ngʼat mohero puonj mar rieko ohero ngʼeyo, to ngʼat ma ok winj puonj ofuwo.
Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
2 Ngʼat maber yudo pwoch kuom Jehova Nyasaye, to Jehova Nyasaye kwero ngʼat ma timbene richo.
A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.
3 Ngʼato ok nyal gerore motegno kuom richo, to ngʼat makare ok nyal pudhi.
A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4 Dhako ma kite longʼo en osimbo mar chwore, to dhako ma timbene richo chalo gi nyamuoda manie choke.
A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
5 Chenro mar ngʼat makare nikare, to puonj mar joricho en wuondruok.
The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 Weche mag joricho opondo karito chwero remo, to wach mar joma kare resogi.
The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 Joricho osewiti kendo gilal nono, to od ngʼat makare osiko ogurore motegno.
Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 Ngʼato ipako kaluwore gi riekone, to jogo man-gi paro mobam ichayo.
A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.
9 Ber bedo dhano adhana, to in gi jatich, moloyo wuondori ni in ngʼato, to ionge chiemo.
Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
10 Ngʼat makare chiwo kony ne gik ma jambe dwaro, to timbe mag ngʼwono mag ngʼat marach gin mana gero.
A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 Ngʼat matiyo e puothe biro bedo gi chiemo mogundho, to ngʼat mabayo abaya onge gi rieko.
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.
12 Joricho dwaro gik moyaki mag jogo mamono, to tiend joma kare kelo mwandu.
The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
13 Ngʼat marach imako mana gi wuoyone maricho, to ngʼat makare tony ne chandruok.
In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.
14 Weche mabeyo mawuok e dho ngʼato miyo obedo gi gik mabeyo, adiera, tich mar lwete kelone konyruok.
A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
15 Yor ngʼat mofuwo nenorene ni nikare, to ngʼat makare chiko ite ne puonj.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
16 Ngʼat mofuwo nyiso mirimbe mapiyo, to ngʼat mariek mwonyo ayany.
The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
17 Janeno ma ja-adiera chiwo neno mobidhore, to janeno ma hango wach wacho miriambo.
He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
18 Weche mag muomruok chwoyo chuny mana kaka ligangla, to lew ngʼat mariek kelo ngima.
There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 Dhok ma ja-adiera osiko manyaka chiengʼ, to lep mariambo bedo mana kuom kinde machwok.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Wuond ni e chuny jogo machano timo marach, to mor en mar jogo mohero kwe.
Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21 Onge gima rach manyalo biro ni ngʼat makare; to joricho ni kod thagruok mathoth.
There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22 Jehova Nyasaye mon kod dhok mariambo, to omor gi jogo ma jo-adiera.
Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.
23 Ngʼat mariek orito ngʼeyone e iye, to chuny joma ofuwo wuoyo ma ok opimo.
A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.
24 Tich matek miyo ngʼato bedo gi duongʼ, to nyawo gikone en tich mar misumba.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.
25 Chuny maparore miyo ngʼato bedo mool, to wach mamuol jiwe.
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.
26 Ngʼat makare dak gi osiepene e yo mowinjore, to yor ngʼat marach terogi kama rach.
The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.
27 Jasamuoyo ok nyal yudo dwarone, to jakinda maratego ongʼeyo ber gige.
The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.
28 Yo makare nitie gi ngima, e yorno nitie ngima mochwere.
In the path of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
