1 Ngeche mag Solomon wuod Daudi, ruodh Israel:
These are the proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel,
2 mamiyo iyudo rieko kod ritruok makare, kendo winjo tiend weche matut;
for gaining wisdom and discipline, for comprehending words of insight,
3 kendo miyo idak e ngima moritore kendo mobidhore kitimo gima adiera kendo gima kare kendo mowinjore,
and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness, justice, and equity.
4 gimiyo joma ngʼeyogi tin bedo mariek, kendo gimiyo jomatindo ngʼeyo tiend weche kendo pogo tiend wach.
To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,
5 Mad jomariek chik itgi mondo owinji kendo gimedgi e puonjruokgi, to jogo mongʼeyo pogo tiend wach mad oyud gino ma chikogi,
let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel
6 mondo gingʼe ngeche, sigendini, kod weche ma tiendgi tek mag jorieko.
by understanding the proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 Luoro Jehova Nyasaye e chakruok mar ngʼeyo to joma ofuwo chayo rieko gi ritruok makare.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
8 Wuoda, chik iti ni puonj wuonu, kendo kik ijwangʼ puonj mar minu.
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother.
9 Ginibedni kaka kondo michwowo e wiyi, kendo kaka thiwni miketo e ngʼuti mondo ineri maber.
For they are a garland of grace on your head and a pendant around your neck.
10 Wuoda, ka joricho hoyoi mondo itim marach, kik iyienegi.
My son, if sinners entice you, do not yield to them.
11 Kagiwachoni niya, “Bi idhi kodwa; mondo wabuti ni ngʼato wanegi, kendo wamonj kayiem nono joma onge ketho;
If they say, “Come along, let us lie in wait for blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause,
12 mondo wamuonygi ngili ka bur liel mana ka joma omwony mangima gi bur; (Sheol h7585)
let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those descending into the Pit. (Sheol h7585)
13 wabiro yudo gik moko duto mabeyo ma nengogi tek, mi wapongʼ utewa gi gik moyaki.
We will find all manner of precious goods; we will fill our houses with plunder.
14 In bende riwri kodwa e wachni, kendo wanapog gigo duto mwayako.”
Throw in your lot with us; let us all share one purse”—
15 Wuoda, kik idhi kodgi ngangʼ kendo kik iwuoth e yoregigo,
my son, do not walk the road with them or set foot upon their path.
16 nikech tiendgi reto piyo piyo mar timo richo kendo gimwomore mondo gichwer remo.
For their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed blood.
17 Mano kaka en gima nono chiko obadho ka winy duto neno.
How futile it is to spread the net where any bird can see it!
18 Jogi ochiko obadho ne gin giwegi, kendo gin ema ginimokie!
But they lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush their own lives.
19 Mano e giko jogo duto mohero yudo gimoro moyud e yo marach; gino kawo ngima jogo moyude.
Such is the fate of all who are greedy, whose unjust gain takes the lives of its possessors.
20 Rieko goyo koko matek e yore mag dala, ogoyo koko bende e kuonde chokruok;
Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square;
21 oywak kogoyo koko e akerkeke mag yore motimo koko, owuoyo e dhorangeye mag mier madongo kopenjo niya,
in the main concourse she cries aloud, at the city gates she makes her speech:
22 “Nyaka karangʼo ma un joma ngʼeyogi tin nusik kuhero yoreu mag ngʼeyo matin?” Nyaka karangʼo ma jojaro pod nosik kamor, e jaro kendo joma ofuwo nosiki kochayo puonj?
“How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?
23 Ka dine uwinj siem mara, dine abedo kodu thuolo, kendo damiyo ungʼeyo pacha.
If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.
24 To nikech ne udaga kane aluongo kendo onge ngʼama nodewa kane adwaro konyou,
Because you refused my call, and no one took my outstretched hand,
25 nimar ne udagi puonj maga duto kendo ne ok uwinjo siem mara.
because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction,
26 An to ananyieru bangʼe ka un e chandruok; Anajaru ajara ka masira oloyou,
in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,
27 ka masira machalo yamb ahiti obiro kuomu, kendo ka chandruok oyweyou ka yamb kalausi. Ka lit kod thagruok ohingou.
when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.
28 Giniluonga, to ok anadwokgi; ginimanya to ok giniyuda.
Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will earnestly seek me, but will not find me.
29 Kaka ne ok gidwar puonj kendo ok negiyiero luoro Jehova Nyasaye,
For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.
30 Kaka ne ok giyie gi puonjna kendo gidagi siem mara,
They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.
31 kuom mano ginicham olemo mag yoregi kendo giniyiengʼ gi olemo mar riekogi maricho.
So they will eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 Nikech yore mobam mag bayo mag jogo mangʼeyogi tin noneg-gi, kendo bedo ma ok odewo gimoro mar joma ofuwo notiekgi.
For the waywardness of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.
33 To ngʼato angʼata mawinjo wachna nodag gi kwe kendo mayom, maonge luoro mar hinyruok.
But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”
