< Mathayo 5 >
1 Koro kane oneno oganda maduongʼ, nodhi e bath got mi obet piny. Jopuonjrene nobiro ire,
And seeing the multitudes He went up to a mountain, and when He was set down, His disciples came to Him,
2 kendo nochako puonjogi. Nowachonegi niya,
and He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 “Joma odhier gie chunygi gin joma ogwedhi, nimar pinyruodh polo en margi.
Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Joma ywak gin joma ogwedhi, nimar ibiro hoyogi.
Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.
5 Joma muol gin joma ogwedhi nimar piny nobed girkeni margi.
Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Ogwedh jogo makech kayo kendo riyo mar tim makare oloyo, nimar gibiro yiengʼ.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be satisfied.
7 Joma kecho ji gin joma ogwedhi, nimar ibiro kechgi.
Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Jomaler gie chunygi gin joma ogwedhi, nimar ginine Nyasaye.
Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.
9 Joma kelo kwe gin joma ogwedhi, nimar noluong-gi ni nyithind Nyasaye.
Blessed are the peace-makers; for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Joma isando nikech tim makare gin joma ogwedhi, nimar pinyruodh polo en margi.
Blessed are they, who are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Un joma ogwedhi ka ji yanyou kendo sandou kendo hangonu wach ni usetimo kit gik maricho duto nikech an.
Blessed are ye when men shall revile and persecute you, and utter all manner of reproach against you falsly, for my sake:
12 Beduru mamor kendo moil, nikech poku duongʼ e polo, nimar jonabi mane okwongonu bende negisando mana kamano.”
rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great will be your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets, that were before you.
13 “Un e chumbi mar piny. To chumbi ka ndhathe orumo, to ere kaka dimiye obed gi ndhathe kendo? Koro onge konyruok mokelo, makmana ni ipuke oko kendo ji nyone piny gi tiendegi.
Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt be grown insipid, wherewith shall it be seasoned? it is no longer fit for any thing, but to be thrown out of doors, and trodden under foot.
14 “Un e ler mar piny. Dala matin moger ewi thur ok nyal pandi.
Ye are the light of the world: a city, that is situated on a hill, cannot be hid.
15 Kamano bende, ji ok mok taya bangʼe giume gi bakul. Kar timo kamano to gikete ewi rachungi taya kendo ochiwo ler ne ji duto mantiere ei ot.
Nor do men light a candle, to put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick: and then it giveth light to all in the house.
16 Un bende timuru kamano. Neuru ni ler maru rieny e dier ji, mondo gine timbeu mabeyo kendo gipak Wuonu manie polo.
So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven.
17 “Kik upar ni asebiro mondo aketh Chik kata Jonabi. Ok asebiro mondo akethgi, to asebiro mar chopogi.
Think not that I am come to abrogate the law, or the prophets: I am not come to abolish, but to compleat them:
18 Awachonu adier ni nyaka chop chiengʼ ma polo gi piny nolal nono, onge nukta matinie mogik kata kido moro amora mar kalam manolal kuom Chik, nyaka gik moko duto chop kargi.
for verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot nor one tittle shall pass from the law, till all be compleated.
19 Ngʼato angʼata moketho achiel kuom chike matindoe mogik kuom Chikegi, kendo mopuonjo joma moko mondo otim kamano, nokaw kaka ngʼat matinie mogik e pinyruodh polo, to ngʼato angʼata maluwo kendo puonjo ji chikegi nokaw kaka ngʼama duongʼ e pinyruodh polo.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of the left of these commandments, and thereby teach men so to do, he shall be esteemed very little in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do as well as teach them, he shall be accounted great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Nimar awachonu ni ka ok ber maru oyombo mano mar jo-Farisai gi mar jopuonj chik to ok unudonji e pinyruodh polo ngangʼ.
For I tell you, that unless your righteousness exceed that of the scribes and pharisees, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever committeth murder, shall be liable to the judgment:
22 Anto anyisou ni ngʼato angʼata ma mirima omako gi nyawadgi ibiro ngʼadne bura. Bende, ngʼato angʼata mowachone nyawadgi ni, ‘Raka,’ ma tiende ni ifuwo, nyaka yal e buch jo-Sanhedrin. To ngʼato angʼata mowacho ni, ‘Ifuwo nade,’ biro neno chandruok mar mach mar Gehena. (Geenna )
but I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be liable to the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be obnoxious to the council; but whosoever shall say, "Thou fool," shall be in danger of hell-fire. (Geenna )
23 “Kuom mano, ka ichiwo michni e nyim kendo mar misango to iparo ka in kanyo ni nyawadu ni kodi gi wach,
Therefore, if thou bring thine offering to the altar, and there remembrest that thy brother hath any complaint against thee;
24 to we michnino piny kanyo e nyim kendo mar misango. Kuong idhi ilos kindi gi nyawadu; eka ibi ichiw michni.
leave thy gift there before the altar, and go and first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 “Los weche piyo piyo gi ngʼama odonjoni madwa teri e od bura. Tim kamano kapod un kode e yo, nono to onyalo keti e lwet jangʼad bura to jangʼad bura nyalo keti e lwet askari, kendo inyalo boli e od twech.
Be friends with thine adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him; least the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison:
26 Awachoni adier ni ok niwuog oko nyaka ichul faini duto monego ichul ma ok orem kata ndururu.
verily, I say unto thee, thou shalt not come out from thence, till thou hast paid the very last farthing.
27 “Usewinjo ni ne owach ni, ‘Kik iterri.’
Ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 Anto anyisou ni ngʼato angʼata morango dhako gi gombo oseterore kode gi ei chunye.
but I tell you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, so as to lust after her, hath already debauched her in his heart.
29 Ka wangʼi ma korachwich miyo itimo richo to lodhe oko kendo iwite. (Geenna )
And therefore if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one part of thee perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell: (Geenna )
(Geenna )
and if thy right hand cause thee to offend, cut it off and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy limbs should perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna )
And it has been said, whosoever would put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce:
32 An to awachonu ni ngʼato angʼata moriembo chiege nikech wach moro amora makmana richo mar terruok, miyo chiegeno donjo e richo mar terruok, kendo ngʼato angʼata mokendo dhako makamano bende donjo e richo mar terruok.
but I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except on account of whoredom, tempteth her to commit adultery; and if any man marry her that is divorced, he committeth adultery.
33 “Usewinjo bende ni nowachi ni, ‘Kik iketh kwongʼruok, to riti kwongʼruok moro amora misetimone Ruoth Nyasaye.’
Again, ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34 Anto anyisou ni kik ukwongʼru kata matin: Kik ukwongʼru gi polo nimar en e kom loch mar Nyasaye;
but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35 kata gi piny, nimar en e raten tiende; kata gi Jerusalem, nikech en e dala maduongʼ mar Ruoth Maduongʼ.
nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King: neither shalt thou swear by thy head,
36 Kendo kik ukwongʼru gi wiu, nikech ok unyal loko yie wich achiel bedo marachar kata maratengʼ.
for thou canst not make one hair of it white or black:
37 Neuru ni ‘Ee maru’ obedo ‘Ee,’ kendo ‘Ooyo’ obedo ‘Ooyo.’ Gimoro amora mopogore gimaa en gima oa kuom ngʼat marach.
but let your conversation be yea, yea; no, no; for whatever is more than these, cometh from the evil one.
38 “Usewinjo ni nowachi ni, ‘Wangʼ kar wangʼ kendo lak kar lak.’
Ye have heard, that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 Anto anyisou ni kik utam ngʼat marach timo gima odwaro timo. Ka ngʼato othalo lembi ma korachwich to lokne komachielo bende,
but I say unto you, Set not yourselves against him that injures you, but if any one smite thee on thy right cheek, rather turn to him the other also:
40 kendo ka ngʼato dwaro yalo kodi mondo okaw lawi mar akor to wene kotini bende.
and if any one would go to law with thee, to take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also, rather than strive with him:
41 Ka ngʼato ochuni mondo ikowe kilomita achiel gi nus to dhi kode kilomita adek.
and if any one shall force thee one mile, go with him two.
Give to him that asketh thee, and him, that would borrow of thee, turn not away.
43 “Usewinjo ni nowachi ni, ‘Her waduto jasiki to isin-go.’
Ye have heard, that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy:
44 Anto awachonu kama: Heruru wasiku kendo lamuru ne joma sandou,
but I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that abuse you and persecute you;
45 mondo eka ubed yawuot Wuonu manie polo. En omiyo chiengʼ mare wuok ni joma richo gi joma beyo machalre, kendo ooro koth ne joma kare gi joma ok kare.
that ye may be the children of your heavenly Father; for He causeth his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain upon the just and the unjust.
46 Ka uhero mana joma oherou kende, to pok mane muyudo? Donge kata josol osuru bende timo mano?
For if ye love only them that love you, what reward do ye expect? do not even the publicans the same?
47 To ka umoso mana oweteu kende to en angʼo mutimo moloyo joma moko? Donge kata jopiny bende timo kamano?
and if ye embrace your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not the publicans so likewise?
48 Kuom mano, beduru malongʼo chuth mana kaka Wuonu manie polo longʼo chuth.
Be ye therefore perfect in love and goodness, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
