Mathayo 23
1 Eka Yesu nowachone oganda kod jopuonjrene niya,
Then spake Jesus to the people and to his disciples, saying,
2 “Jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai bet e kom Musa.
The scribes and pharisees sit in the seat of Moses:
3 Omiyo nyaka uwinjgi kendo utim gik moko duto ma ginyisou. Kata kamano kik utim gik ma giyalo nikech ok gitim gik ma giyalo.
observe therefore and do all things whatsoever they tell you to observe; but do not ye according to their works, for they say and do not:
4 Gitweyo misigo mapek kendo giyieyo e goke ji, to gin giwegi to ok giikore kata mar mulo misigogo gi lith lwetgi.
for they bind grievous and intolerable burthens, and impose them upon men; but they themselves will not put a finger to them:
5 “Gimoro amora ma gitimo gitimo mondo ji one. Kuom ranyisi, giloso sanduku mag-gi motingʼo kwan mag ndiko mimako gi wich madongo dongo, kendo gikado riak lepgi maboyo boyo.
but they do all their works to be seen by men; they make their phylacteries broad, and enlarge the fringes of their garments,
6 Bende gihero kuonde ma imiyoe ji duongʼ e sewni kendo bedo e kombe moyiedhi manie sinagoke.
and love the uppermost places at feasts,
7 Gihero bende mondo omosgi e chirni, kendo mondo ji oluong-gi ni, ‘Rabi.’
and the chief seats in the synagogues, and salutations in public assemblies, and to be called by men Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 “To un kik uyie oluongu ni, ‘Rabi,’ nimar un gi Ruoth achiel kende, to un duto un owete.
But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor even Christ, and ye are all brethren.
9 Bende kik uluong ngʼato angʼata e piny-ka ni ‘Baba,’ nimar un gi Wuoro achiel kende, kendo en e polo.
Neither call any man upon earth Father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven:
10 Kik luongu kata ni, Japuonj, nimar un gi Japuonj achiel, ma en Kristo.
neither be ye called masters; for one is your master, even Christ.
11 Ngʼama duongʼ mogik e dieru nobed jatichu.
But let him that is greatest among you be your minister: and whosoever will exalt himself shall be abased,
12 Nimar ngʼato ka ngʼato matingʼore malo kende nodwok piny, to ngʼato angʼato madwokore piny notingʼ malo.
and whosoever will humble himself shall be exalted.
13 “Unune malit un jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai mawuondoregi! Uloro pinyruodh polo mondo kik ji odonje. Un uwegi ok udonji, to joma temo mondo odonji bende ugengʼonegi. [
But wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, nor suffer those that are entering to go in.
14 “Unune malit un jopuonj Chik gi jo-Farisai, un muwuondorugi! Uyako ute mon ma chwogi otho, kendo ulamo lemo moyware mondo unyisrugo ni ji kaka ulony e lamo. Omiyo ibiro kumou malit moloyo.]
Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye devour widows houses, and for a cover make long prayers: therefore ye shall receive the heavier judgement.
15 “Malit ochomou, un jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai mawuondoregi! Uwuotho alanda, kungʼado piny gi nembe mondo ulokie kata ngʼato achiel, to koselokore to umiyo obedo koth Gehena moloyou nyadiriyo. (Geenna g1067)
Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites: for ye compass sea and land to make a proselyte, and when he is gained, ye make him more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
16 “Malit ochomou, jotelo ma muofnigi! Uwacho ni, ‘Ka ngʼato okwongʼore gi nying hekalu to onge wach, to ni ka ngʼato okwongʼore gi nying dhahabu mar hekalu to kwongʼruokneno otweye.’
Wo unto you, ye blind guides, who say, If any one swear by the temple, it is nothing;
17 Un muofni mofuwogi! Mane maduongʼ: Dhahabu koso hekalu mamiyo chiwo bedo gima owal?
but if any man swear by the gold of the temple, the oath is binding. Foolish and blind creatures! for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
18 Bende uwacho ni, ‘Ka ngʼato okwongʼore gi nying kendo mar misango to onge wach, to ni ka ngʼato okwongʼore gi chiwo moket kuome to ni kwongʼruokneno otweye.’
And, If any one swear by the altar, it is nothing; but if any one swear by the gift upon it, he is bound.
19 Un joma muofnigi! Mane maduongʼ: Chiwo koso kendo mar misango mamiyo chiwo bedo gima owal?
O foolish and blind! for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifieth the gift?
20 Kuom mano, ngʼama kwongʼore gi nying kendo mar misango ok kwongʼre mana gi kama ler kende, to okwongʼore koda ka gi gik moko duto manie iye.
He then, that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it and by all things upon it:
21 Kendo ngʼama kwongʼore gi nying hekalu kwongʼore kode kaachiel gi Jal modak e iye.
and he, that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by Him that dwelleth in it:
22 Kamano bende, ngʼama okwongʼore gi nying polo okwongʼore bende gi kom loch mar Nyasaye, kaachiel gi Ngʼama obet e komno.
and he, that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by Him that sitteth upon it.
23 “Unune malit un jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai mawuondoregi! Uchiwo achiel kuom apar mar gik ma milimili kaka kado, apoth kod onyulo. To ok usedewo gik madongo moloyo ma chik dwaro, kaka adiera gi kech kod yie. Owinjore ne utim gik ma achien-go ka ok uweyo mak utimo mokwongogo.
Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who tithe even your mint, and anise, and cummin, but neglect the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and fidelity: these ye ought undoubtedly to practise, and not to omit the others.
24 Un jotelo ma muofnigi! Ungʼudho kikun to ngamia to umuonyo!
Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
25 “Unune malit un jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai mawuondoregi! Ulwoko ngʼe kikombe gi bakul, to gi e chunygi to gipongʼ gi wuoro kod anjawo.
Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance:
26 Jo-Farisai ma muofnigi! Kuong ulwok i kikombe gi bakul, eka ngʼegi oko bende biro bedo maler.
thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean.
27 “Unune malit un jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai mawuondoregi! Uchalo liete mowir marachar, manenore maber gi oko, to gie iyegi to gipongʼ gi choke joma otho kod gimoro amora mogak.
Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who are like whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful without, but within are full of the bones of the dead, and all manner of filthiness;
28 Kamano e kaka un bende unenoru ne ji ni un joma beyo gioko, to gie iu to upongʼ gi wuondruok kod timbe maricho.
so do ye likewise outwardly appear to men to be righteous, but within are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 “Unune malit un jopuonj chik gi jo-Farisai mawuondoregi! Ugero mi umwon liete jonabi kendo ugoro maber liete joma kare.
Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the monuments of the just,
30 Bende uwacho ni, ‘Ka dine bed ni wangima e ndalo mag kwerewa, dine ok wariwore kodgi e chwero remb jonabi.’
and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been concerned with them in shedding the blood of the prophets:
31 Kuom mano ungʼado buchu uwegi ni un nyikwa joma nonego jonabi.
so that ye are witnesses yourselves, that ye are the children of those who killed the prophets:
32 Kara koro dhiuru mana nyime gi chopo okangʼ mar richo mane kwereu ochako!
fill up then the measure of your fathers, ye serpents, ye brood of vipers:
how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
34 Emomiyo eri koro aoronu jonabi gi joma riek kod jopuonj. Moko kuomgi ubiro nego kendo ubiro guro; moko ubiro rodho e sinagokeu kendo ubiro lawogi e dala ka dala.
For behold I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
35 Kuom mano, remo makare duto mosebedo kichwero e piny, chakre remb Abel nyaka remb Zekaria wuod Berekia, mane unego marach e kind hekalu gi kendo mar misango, ibiro keti ewiu.
that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Awachonu ni adier magi duto biro timore ne tiengʼni.
Verily I tell you, all these things shall come upon this generation.
37 “Yaye Jerusalem, Jerusalem, in ma inego jonabi kendo ichielo joma oorni gi kite! Mano kaka asegombo amingʼa mondo achok nyithindi kaachiel, kaka gweno choko nyithinde e bwo bwombene, to ok useyie.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38 To koro, ne, odi oweni kodongʼ gunda.
Behold your house shall be left you desolate:
39 Nimar awachoni ni ok ininena kendo nyaka chop chiengʼ ma iniwach ni, ‘Ogwedh ngʼat mabiro e nying Jehova Nyasaye.’”
for I tell you, ye shall not see me after this, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.
