1 Bangʼ kane osenywol Yesu e dala mar Bethlehem e piny Judea, e ndalo loch Ruoth Herode, Joma Riek moko moa yo wuok chiengʼ nobiro Jerusalem,
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 mi openjo niya, “Ere jal mosenywol mondo obed ruodh jo-Yahudi? Ne waneno sulwene yo wuok chiengʼ kendo wasebiro mondo walame.”
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and have come to worship him.
3 Kane Ruoth Herode owinjo wachno, chunye nochandore, en kaachiel gi ji duto modak Jerusalem.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 Kane oseluongo jodolo madongo gi jopuonj chik duto mane otelo ne ji, nopenjogi kama nowinjore nywolie Kristo, Mesia.
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he enquired of them where the Christ should be born.
5 Negidwoke niya, “E Bethlehem manie piny Judea, nikech janabi nondiko kama:
And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 “‘To in, Bethlehem, manie piny Juda, ok itin ngangʼ e dier jotelo mag Juda; nikech kuomi ema jatelo mabiro kwayo joga ma jo-Israel biro ae.’”
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Eka Herode noluongo ajuokego lingʼ-lingʼ, kendo ne ononogi, mi neginyise kinde nogono mane sulwe onenore.
Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 Ne oorogi Bethlehem, kowacho niya, “Dhiuru kendo umany nyathino maber. E sa ma uyudeno to duognauru wach mondo an bende adhi alame.”
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 Kane gisewinjo wach ruoth, negichako wuodhgi mi gidhi, kendo sulwe mane oyudo giseneno yo wuok chiengʼ notelonigi nyaka nochopo mi ochungʼ ewi kama ne nyathi nitie.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 Kane gineno sulweno, negibedo moil.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 To kane gichopo ei ot, negineno nyathino kod Maria min mare, kendo negikulore piny ka gilame. Bangʼe ne giyawo mwandugi kendo negimiye mich mag dhahabu, gi ubani gi mane-mane.
And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented to him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
12 To kaka nosesiemgi e lek ni kik gidog ir Herode, negidok thurgi gi yo machielo.
And being warned by God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13 Bangʼ kane gisedhi, malaika mar Ruoth nofwenyore ne Josef e lek. Nowachone niya, “Aa malo ikaw nyathi gi min mare mondo itony idhi Misri. Dag kuno nyaka aduogni wach, nikech Herode biro manyo nyathini mondo onege.”
And when they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 Omiyo noa malo gotieno mi okawo nyathi gi min mare kendo nowuok modhi Misri,
When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 kuma nodakie nyaka chop tho mar Herode. Kamano gima Ruoth nowacho chon gi dho janabi nochopo kare niya, “Ne aluongo wuoda ka agolo Misri.”
And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken from the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
16 Ka Herode nofwenyo ni Ajuokego nosewuonde, iye nowangʼ matek, kendo nogolo chik mondo onegi nyithindo ma yawuowi duto modak Bethlehem gi mier molwore, mane hikgi ariyo kadok chien, kaluwore gi sa mane Ajuokego onyise.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceeding angry, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all its surrounding lands, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
17 Eka gima Nyasaye nomiyo janabi Jeremia owacho nochopo kare:
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
18 “Dwol winjore Rama, en ywak gi nduru malich, Rael ywago nyithinde kendo odagi ni ok nyal hoye, nikech gisetho.”
In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19 Bangʼ ka Herode nosetho, malaika mar Ruoth nofwenyore ne Josef e lek ka en Misri kuno,
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 kendo nowachone niya, “Aa malo ikaw nyathi kod min mare mondo idhi e piny Israel, nikech joma netemo kawo ngima nyathi osetho.”
Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead who sought the young child’s life.
21 Omiyo noa malo, mokawo nyathi gi min mare, kendo nodhi e piny Israel.
And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 To kane owinjo ni Arkelao nobet e loch e piny Judea kar wuon-gi ma Herode, noluoro dok kuno. Kaka nosesieme e lek, noloko wuoth modhi e gwengʼ mar Galili,
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judaea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there: however, being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 kendo nodhi modak e dala miluongo ni Nazareth. Kamano gima nowachi gi dho janabi niya, “Enoluonge ni ja-Nazareth,” nochopo kare.
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
