< Mathayo 16 >

1 Jo-Farisai gi jo-Sadukai nobiro ir Yesu mi oteme kapenje ka gidwaro mondo onyisgie ranyisi moa e polo.
The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 Nodwokogi niya, “Kochopo odhiambo to uwacho ni ‘piny kiny nolendi nikech polo mamarmar,’
But he answered and said to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.'
3 to gokinyi to uwacho ni, ‘Kodh yamo maduongʼ wangʼ nochwe nikech polo mamarmar kendo dudo.’ Ulony kuom rango chal mar polo, to ok unyal ngʼeyo ranyisi mag kit ndalo.
In the morning, 'It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.' You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.
4 Tiengʼ ma timbene richo kendo mamono manyo ranyisi mar hono, to ok bi miye moro amora makmana ranyisi mar Jona.” Eka Yesu nowuok odhi oweyogi.
An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of Jonah." He left them, and departed.
5 Bangʼ kane gisengʼado loka nam, jopuonjre wigi nowil ma ok otingʼo makati.
The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.
6 Yesu nowachonegi niya, “Beduru motangʼ kendo ritreuru ne thowi mar jo-Farisai gi jo-Sadukai.”
Jesus said to them, "Watch out and guard yourselves against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
7 Ne giwuoyo kendgi kuom wachni, kagiwacho niya, “Owuoyo kamano nikech ne ok watingʼo makati kata achiel.”
They reasoned among themselves, saying, "We brought no bread."
8 To kaka nongʼeyo gima negiwacho, Yesu nopenjogi niya, “Un joma nigi yie matin-gi, angʼo momiyo uwuoyo e kindu uwegi ni uonge gi makati?
But Jesus, becoming aware of this, said, "You of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves about having no bread?
9 Kare wach pok odonjonu? Donge uparo makati abich mane opidho ji alufu abich, kod kar romb okepe mane uchoko?
Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
10 Kata makati abiriyo mane opidho ji alufu angʼwen, kod kar romb okepe mane uchoko?
Nor the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
11 Ere kaka pod ok uwinjo ni ne ok awuo kodu kuom makati? To ritreuru kuom thowi mar jo-Farisai gi jo-Sadukai.”
Why is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
12 Eka negiwinjo tiend wach ni kare ne ok owachnegi ni giritre kuom thowi mitedogo makati, to ni mondo giritre kuom puonj jo-Farisai gi jo-Sadukai.
Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13 Kane Yesu odonjo e gwengʼ mar Kaisaria man Filipi, nopenjo jopuonjrene niya, “Uwinjo ji wacho ni Wuod Dhano en ngʼa?”
Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
14 Negidwoke niya, “Jomoko wacho ni in Johana ja-Batiso, to jomoko ni in Elija, to jomoko bende ni in Jeremia, kata achiel kuom jonabi.”
They said, "Some say John the Baptist, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."
15 Nopenjogi niya, “To un, to uwacho ni An ngʼa?”
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
16 Simon Petro nodwoke niya, “In e Kristo, Wuod Nyasaye Mangima.”
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
17 Yesu nodwoke niya, “Ogwedhi adier, Simon wuod Jona, nimar dhano ok ema osefwenyoni tiend wachni, to Wuora manie polo ema osefwenyonigo.
And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
18 Kendo anyisi ni in Petro, kendo e lwandani ema abiro gere kanisana, kendo dhorangeye mag Gehena (tiende ni teko mar tho) ok noloye ngangʼ. (Hadēs g86)
I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
19 Abiro miyi kifungu mag pinyruodh polo; kendo gimoro amora mitweyo e piny-ka notwe e polo bende, kendo gimoro amora migonyo e piny-ka nogony e polo bende.”
I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
20 Eka nosiemo jopuonjrene ni kik ginyis ngʼato angʼata ni ne en Kristo.
Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he is the Messiah.
21 Chakre kindeno kadhi nyime Yesu nochako nyiso jopuonjrene ni ne ochuno ni nyaka odhi Jerusalem kendo osandre e yore mangʼeny e lwet jodong oganda gi jodolo madongo kod jopuonj chik, bende nyaka nonege kendo chiengʼ mar adek nochiere obed mangima.
From that time, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
22 Petro nokawe otere tenge mi okwere ni owe wuoyo kamano. Nowachone niya, “Ruoth, gima kamano ok nyal timoreni ngangʼ!”
Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying, "Far be it from you, Lord. This will never be done to you."
23 Yesu nolokore mowachone Petro niya, “Wuog oko e nyima, Satan! In kidi mar chwanyruok ne an; nikech iketo pachi kuom dwaro dhano to ok kuom dwach Nyasaye.”
But he turned, and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan. You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of humans."
24 Eka Yesu nowachone jopuonjrene niya, “Ka ngʼato dwaro luwo bangʼa to nyaka okwedre kende owuon kendo otingʼ msalape eka oluwa.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 Nimar ngʼatno madwaro reso ngimane, ngimane biro lalne, to ngʼatno mowito ngimane nikech an biro yude.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.
26 Koso en ber mane ma ngʼato yudo ka piny duto obedo mare to ngimane to olalne? Koso en angʼo ma ngʼato dichiw mondo owil gi ngimane?
For what will it profit a person, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a person give in exchange for his life?
27 Nimar Wuod Dhano nodwogi e duongʼ mar Wuon mare kaachiel gi malaikege, kendo chiengʼno enomi ngʼato ka ngʼato pokne kaluwore gi gima osetimo.
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.
28 “Awachonu adier ni nitie jomoko mochungʼ buta ka ma ok nokal e tho kapok gineno Wuod Dhano kabiro gi pinyruodhe.”
Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom."
