Luka 2
1 E ndalogo, Kaisar Agusto nogolo chik mondo okwan ji e piny Rumi duto.
Now in those days an edict was published by Augustus Cesar, that all the world should be enrolled or taxed,
2 (Ma ne en kweno mokwongo mane otimore ka Kwirinio ne en ruodh Siria.)
(this tax was first levied when Cyrenius was governor of Syria) and they all went to be enrolled,
3 To ngʼato ka ngʼato nodhi e dalagi owuon mondo ondik nyinge.
every one to his own city:
4 Kuom mano, Josef bende noa e dala mar Nazareth, e piny Galili modhiyo Judea nyaka Bethlehem e dala mar Daudi, nikech ne en achiel kuom joodgi kendo anywola gi Daudi.
so Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he
5 Nodhi kuno mondo okwane kod Maria, mane osingore mondo okendi, kendo nogeno yudo nyathi.
was of the house and line of David) to be enrolled with Mary his espoused wife, who was big with child.
6 Kane gin kuno, kinde mar nywolo nyathi nochopo,
And while they were there, the days of her delivery were fulfilled,
7 to nonywolo nyathine makayo, ma wuowi. Ne oboye gi nanga kendo nokete e sanduku mar chiemb dhok, nikech ne onge thuolo e od welo.
and she brought forth her son, the first-born, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 To ne nitie jokwadh rombe manodak oko e lek machiegni kanyo, ka girito jambgi gotieno.
And there were in the same country shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night: and lo,
9 Malaika mar Ruoth nobiro irgi kendo duongʼ mar Ruoth Nyasaye norieny, molworogi, mine giluor.
an angel of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them, and they were greatly terrified:
10 To malaika nowachonegi niya, “Kik uluor. Akelonu wach maber mar mor maduongʼ mabiro bedo ni ji duto.
and the angel said to them, Be not affrighted; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people,
11 Kawuononi e dala mar Daudi, osenywolnu Jawar; en Kristo Ruoth.
that this day is born, in the city of David, your Saviour Christ the Lord.
12 Mani nobednu ranyisi: Ubiro yudo nyathi ma obo gi nengni ka onindo ei sanduku mar chiemb dhok.”
And this shall be a sign to you, Ye shall find the child wrapped in swaddling bands lying in a manger.
13 Apoya nono oganda maduongʼ mar jopolo nothinyore kod malaika ka gipako Nyasaye kendo wacho niya,
And on a sudden there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host,
14 “Duongʼ obed ni Nyasaye e polo malo kendo kwe obed e piny ne ji ma Nyasaye oyiero.”
praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will towards men.
15 Kane malaika noseweyo jogi kendo dhiyo e polo, jokwath nowacho kendgi niya, “Wadhiuru Bethlehem mondo wane gima osetimore, ma Ruoth osenyisowa kuome ni.”
And when the angels went from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us go to Bethlehem, and see this which hath been told us, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 Kuom mano negidhiyo mapiyo kendo negiyudo Maria gi Josef kod nyathi konindo e sanduku mar chiemb dhok.
And they came with speed, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger:
17 Kane gisenene, negilando wach mar gima ne owachnegi kuom nyathini,
and when they had seen it, they divulged what had been told them concerning this child:
18 Kendo ji duto manowinjo wachni, nowuoro gima jokwath nowachonegi.
and all that heard it, were amazed at the things which were related to them by the shepherds.
19 To Maria nokano wechegi duto kendo nokanogi e chunye.
But Mary treasured up all these words, pondering them in her heart.
20 Jokwath nodok, ka gipako Nyasaye kendo miyo Nyasaye duongʼ kuom gik moko duto mane gisewinjo kendo neno, mana kaka nosenyisgi.
And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all the things which they had heard and seen, according as it had been told unto them.
21 Odiechiengʼ mar aboro kane kinde monego otere nyangu ochopo nomiye nying ni Yesu, nyingno mane malaika osemiye kapok omak ichne.
And when eight days were fulfilled for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, having been so called by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
22 Kane kinde ochopo mar pwodhruok kaka Chik mar Musa nochopo, Josef gi Maria notere Jerusalem mondo gichiwe ne Ruoth Nyasaye
And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him before the Lord:
23 (mana kaka nondiki e chik mar Ruoth Nyasaye niya, “Nyathi ka nyathi makayo ma wuowi nyaka wal ne Ruoth”),
(as it is written in the law of the Lord, That every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord: ) and to offer a sacrifice,
24 kendo kitimo misango koluwore gi gima owachi e Chik mar Ruoth Nyasaye ni mondo ochiw: “akuch odugla ariyo kata nyithi akuru ariyo.”
according to what is required in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.
25 E kindeno ne nitiere ngʼato Jerusalem miluongo ni Simeon, ne en ngʼat makare kendo moluoro Nyasaye. Norito loch mar Israel, kendo Roho Maler neni kuome.
And there was a man at Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and he was a just and a religious man, who expected the consolation of Israel; and the holy Spirit was upon him.
26 Roho Maler nofwenyone ni ok obi tho kapok oneno Kristo ma Ruoth Nyasaye biro oro.
And it was revealed to him by the holy Spirit, that he should not die before he had seen the Anointed of the Lord.
27 Roho notelone motere ei hekalu. Kane jonywol okelo nyathigi ma Yesu mondo otimne gino ma Chik dwaro,
And he came by the influence of the Spirit into the temple, as his parents brought in the child Jesus to do concerning Him according to the custom of the law:
28 Simeon nokawe moriwe e bade kendo nopako Nyasaye, kowacho niya,
and he took Him into his arms,
29 “Ruoth Nyasaye Manyalo Gik Moko Duto, kaka ne isesingo, koro we jatichni odhi gi kwe.
and blessed God, and said, "Now, Lord, thou dismissest thy servant in peace, according to thy word;
30 Nimar wengena oseneno warruokni,
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast provided in the sight of all people,
31 miseiko e nyim ji duto,
a light for the enlightening of the Gentiles,
32 ler mar fweny ne joma ok jo-Yahudi, to mar duongʼ ni jogi Israel.”
and the glory of thy people Israel."
33 Wuon gi min nyathi nowuoro wach mane owach kuome.
And Joseph and his mother were amazed at the things that were spoken concerning Him.
34 Eka Simeon nogwedhogi kendo nowachone Maria, min mare niya, “Nyathini oketi mondo okel podho piny gichungʼ malo mar ji mangʼeny e Israel, kendo obed ranyisi mibiro wuo kuome marach.
And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be spoken against,
35 Kuom mano paro mag chunje mangʼeny ibiro fwenyo. To ligangla biro chwoyo chunyi in iwuon bende.”
(and a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also) that the thoughts of many hearts may be discovered.
36 Ne nitie janabi madhako bende, Ana, nyar Fanuel ma ja-dhood Asher. Ne oti ahinya; bende noyudo osedak gi chwore higni abiriyo bangʼ kendne,
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser; who was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her first marrying,
37 eka nodoko dhako ma chwore otho nyaka koro ne en ja-higni piero aboro gangʼwen. Ne ok oa e hekalu to nolemo otieno gi odiechiengʼ, kotweyo chiemo kendo olamo.
and had been a widow about eighty four years; who departed not from the temple; serving God with fastings and prayers night and day.
38 Kane obiro irgi e kindeno, nogoyo erokamano ni Nyasaye kendo nowuoyo kuom nyathi ni ji duto mane ogeno kuom resruok mar Jerusalem.
And coming in at the very same time, gave thanks unto the Lord, and spake of Him to all that were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 Kane Josef gi Maria josetimo duto mane dwarore kaluwore gi chik mar Ruoth, negidok Galili e dala margi Nazareth.
And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
40 To nyathino nodongo kendo nobedo motegno; nopongʼ kod rieko, kendo ngʼwono mar Nyasaye ne ni kuome.
And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
41 Higa ka higa jonywolne ne dhiyo Jerusalem e Sawo mar Pasaka.
Now his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover:
42 Kane en ja-higni apar gariyo, negidhiyo e Sawono kaluwore kod timgi.
and when He was twelve years old, going up to Jerusalem, as usual at the feast, and having finished the time,
43 Bangʼ ka sawono norumo, ka jonywolne nedok dala, wuowi Yesu nodongʼ chien Jerusalem, to ne ok gingʼeyo mani.
when they returned, the child Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem: and Joseph and his mother did not know it;
44 Ka giparo ni ne en ei oganda margi, negiwuotho moromo ndalo achiel eka negichako manye e dier wedegi kod osiepe.
but supposing Him to be in the company, went a day's journey, and then sought for Him among their kindred and acquaintance:
45 Kane ok giyude, negidok Jerusalem mondo gimanye.
and not finding Him they returned to Jerusalem seeking for Him:
46 Bangʼ ndalo adek negiyude ei agolni mag hekalu, kobedo e kind jopuonj, kowinjogi kendo penjogi penjo.
and after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, attending to them and asking them questions.
47 Ngʼato ka ngʼato manowinje nowuoro ngʼeyone kod dwokoge.
And all that heard Him were astonished at his understanding and his answers.
48 Kane jonywolne onene, negihum. Min-gi nowachone niya, “Wuoda, angʼo momiyo isetimonwa kamano? An kod wuonu wasedwari ka wan gi parruok.”
And when they saw Him, they were amazed. And his mother said to Him, Son, why didst thou deal thus with us? behold, thy father and I with grief have been seeking for thee.
49 Nopenjogi niya, “Angʼo momiyo ne umanya? Ok ungʼeyo ni onego abed e od wuora?”
And He said to them, Why did ye so seek me? Did not ye know that I ought to be in my Father's house?
50 To ne ok gingʼeyo gima ne owachonegi.
but they did not understand the word which He spake to them.
51 Eka nodhi nyaka Nazareth kodgi kendo nomiyogi luor kowinjogi. To min mare nokano wechegi duto e chunye.
Then He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 To Yesu nomedo dongo kobedo gi rieko kendo e ringruok, ka en gi ngʼwono gi Nyasaye kod ji.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
