< Johana 11 >

1 Ngʼat moro ma nyinge Lazaro ne tuo. Ne en ja-Bethania, dala gi Maria gi Maritha nyamin mare.
NOW there was a sick man, Lazarus, of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 Maria-ni ma owadgi Lazaro makoro tuoni ema noolo mo mangʼwe ngʼar e tiend Ruoth mi oyweyo gi yie wiye.
(It was the Mary who had anointed the Lord with the balm, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Omiyo nyimine Lazaro nooro wach ni Yesu niya, “Ruoth, osiepni mihero tuo.”
The sisters therefore sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 Kane Yesu owinjo mano, nowacho niya, “Tuono ok en mar tho, to mano otimore mana ni mondo Nyasaye oyud duongʼ, kendo mondo Wuod Nyasaye oyud duongʼ kuome.”
When Jesus heard it, he said, This sickness is not for death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.
5 Yesu nohero Maritha gi nyamin mare kod Lazaro.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 To kata kamano, kane owinjo ni Lazaro tuo, nomedo bedo kama ne entie kuom ndalo ariyo.
Then, though he heard he was ill, yet notwithstanding he abode in the same place where he was two days.
7 Eka nowacho ni jopuonjrene niya, “Wadoguru Judea.”
But after that he saith to his disciples, Let us go again into Judea.
8 To jopuonjrene nodwoke niya, “Rabi, ere kaka didog kuno to nyocha eka jo-Yahudi dwaro goyi gi kite?”
The disciples say unto him, Rabbi, the Jews have just now sought to stone thee; and art thou going thither again?
9 Yesu nodwokogi niya, “Donge nitie seche apar gariyo e odiechiengʼ? Ngʼat mawuotho godiechiengʼ ok chwanyre, nimar ler mar piny miyo oneno.
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he doth not stumble, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 Kowuotho gotieno eka ochwanyore, nikech oonge gi ler.”
But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light with him.
11 Bangʼ kane osewacho kamano, nomedo loso kodgi kowacho niya, “Osiepwa ma Lazaro nindo osetero, to adwaro dhi kuno mondo achiewe.”
These things said he: and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus is asleep; but I go to waken him up.
12 Jopuonjrene nodwoke niya, “Ruoth, konindo aninda, to obiro mana chiewo.”
Then said his disciples, Lord, if he is asleep, he will recover.
13 Yesu ne wuoyo kuom tho Lazaro, to jopuonjrene to ne paro ni oloso mana kuom nindo mapile.
Now Jesus had spoken of his death: but they apprehended that he spake of taking rest in sleep.
14 Omiyo koro nonyisogi ratiro niya, “Lazaro otho,
Then Jesus therefore told them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 to amor ni nyocha otho ka aonge kuno, mondo eka uyie. Kata kamano, wawuog wadhiuru ire.”
And I rejoice on your account that I was not there, in order that ye may believe; but let us go to him.
16 Eka Thoma, ma bende iluongo ni Didimas, nowachone jopuonjre mamoko niya, “Wan bende wadhiuru mondo kata ka en tho, to watho kode.”
Then said Thomas, (called Didymus, the twin, ) to his fellow-disciples, Let us go too, that we may die with him.
17 Kane Yesu ochopo, to noyudo ka Lazaro osetieko ndalo angʼwen e bur.
Then Jesus, when he came; found that he had already lain in the tomb four days.
18 Bethania ne chiegni gi Jerusalem madirom kar kilomita adek,
Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19 kendo jo-Yahudi mangʼeny noyudo osebiro ir Maritha gi Maria mondo ohogi e kuyo margi kuom tho mar owadgi.
and many of the Jews had come with the women who were about Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Kane Maritha owinjo ni Yesu biro, nowuok oko mondo oromne, ka Maria to nodongʼ ei ot.
Then Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, met him: but Mary sat in the house.
21 Maritha nowacho ni Yesu niya, “Ruoth, ka dinyocha bed ni in ka, to owadwa dine ok otho.
And Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 To angʼeyo ni kata mana sani Nyasaye biro miyi gimoro amora mikwaye.”
But even now I know, that whatsoever things thou shalt ask of God, God will give thee.
23 Yesu nowachone niya, “Owadu biro chier.”
Jesus saith to her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Maritha nodwoke niya, “Angʼeyo ni obiro chier kendo e ndalo chier, ma en chiengʼ giko piny.”
Martha saith to him, I know that he shall rise at the resurrection in the last day.
25 Yesu nowachone niya, “An e chier kendo An e ngima. Ngʼat moyie kuoma kata otho to nodok mangima,
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 kendo ngʼama ngima moyie kuoma ok notho ngangʼ. Bende iyie gi wachni?” (aiōn g165)
and every one who is alive, and believeth in me, shall never die to eternity. Believest thou this? (aiōn g165)
27 Eka nodwoke niya, “Ee, Ruoth, ayie ni in e Kristo ma Wuod Nyasaye, ma nonego obi e piny.”
She saith to him, Yes, Lord I believe that thou art the Messiah, the Son of God, who cometh into the world.
28 Kane osewacho mano, to nodok oluongo Maria nyamin-gi tenge, mowachone niya, “Japuonj nika, kendo oluongi.”
So when she had thus spoken, she went away, and called her sister Mary privately, saying, The Master is near at hand, and calleth for thee.
29 Kane Maria owinjo mano, noa malo piyo piyo mi odhi ire.
As soon as she heard it, she rose hastily, and came to him.
30 Noyudo Yesu pok odonjo ei dalano; to ne pod ochungʼ oko kama Maritha noromonee.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the village, but was on the spot where Martha had met him.
31 Ka jo-Yahudi manoyudo nigi Maria ei ot, kahoye, nonene kochungʼ girikni modhi oko, negiluwo bangʼe, ka giparo ni odhi e liel mondo oywagi kuno.
Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, observing Mary, that she rose up hastily, and went out, followed her, saying, She is going to the tomb, to weep there.
32 Kane Maria ochopo kama Yesu ne nitie monene gi wangʼe, nopodho e tiende mowachone niya, “Ruoth, ka dinyocha bed ni in ka to owadwa dine ok otho.”
When therefore Mary was come where Jesus was, beholding him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died!
33 Kane Yesu onene koywak, kendo ka jo-Yahudi mane gibirogo ire bende ne ywak, chunye nodoko malit kendo nochandore.
When Jesus then saw her weeping, and all the Jews who came with her lamenting, he groaned in spirit, and was himself greatly agitated:
34 Nopenjo niya, “Ne uiko ringre kanye?” Negidwoke niya, “Ruoth, bi wadhi wanyisi.”
and he said, Where have ye laid him? They say to him, Lord, come and see.
35 Pi wangʼ Yesu nochwer.
Jesus wept.
36 Eka jo-Yahudi nowacho niya, “Neyeuru kaka nohere!”
Then said the Jews, Behold, how he loved him!
37 Ji moko kuomgi to nopenjore niya, “Jal ma yande oyawo wangʼ muofuni, donge nyocha onyalo gengʼo tho Lazaro?”
But some of them said, Could not this man, who openeth the eyes of the blind, have caused that this person should not have died?
38 Yesu nochopo kar liel ka chunye nigi kuyo maduongʼ moloyo. Ne en rogo, kendo noyie kidi e dhoge.
Then Jesus again groaning in himself, cometh to the sepulchre. It was an excavation, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Yesu nowacho niya, “Goluru kidino oko e dho liel.” To Maritha ma nyamin ngʼat mane othono nokwer niya, “Ruoth, sani koro en gi tik marach, nimar osetieko ndalo angʼwen nyaka notho.”
Jesus saith, Remove the stone. The sister of the deceased, Martha, said to him, Lord, he is by this time putrid: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Yesu nowachone niya, “Donge nende anyisi ni kiyie to ibiro neno duongʼ mar Nyasaye?”
Jesus saith unto her, Did I not tell thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shalt see the glory of God?
41 Omiyo ne gingʼielo kidino oko. Eka Yesu nongʼiyo malo mowacho niya, “Wuora, agoyoni erokamano nikech isewinja.
Then they removed the stone where the deceased was lying. And Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me!
42 Angʼeyo bende ni isebedo kiwinja ndalo duto, to asewacho wechegi mondo joma ochungʼ ka oyud konyruok, kendo mondo giyie nine iora adier.”
And I knew that thou always dost hear me: but for the sake of the multitude standing by I spake, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 Bangʼ wacho mano, Yesu noluongo gi dwol maduongʼ niya, “Lazaro, wuog oko!”
And when he had thus spoken, with a loud voice he cried, Lazarus, come forth!
44 Mi ngʼama nothono nowuok oko, ka bedene gi tiendene onal gi lewni molir olir, kendo ka lela wangʼe bende otwe gi nanga alwora. Yesu nowachonegi niya, “Gonyuru lep liel oko kuome mondo uweye odhi.”
And the deceased came forth, his feet and his hands wrapped with the linen swathes; and his face bound round with a napkin. Jesus saith to them, Loose him, and let him go!
45 Kuom mano, jo-Yahudi mangʼeny mane obiro hoyo chuny Maria, kendo ma noneno gima Yesu notimo, noyie kuome.
Then many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what Jesus had done, believed on him.
46 Ji moko kuomgi to nodhi ir jo-Farisai monyisogi gima Yesu nosetimo.
But some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Eka jodolo madongo gi jo-Farisai nochoko buch jo-Sanhedrin, kendo negipenjore niya, “Watim angʼo? Ngʼatni medo timo timbe honni mangʼeny moloyo.
The chief priests and Pharisees therefore called the sanhedrim together, and said, What are we about? for this man is doing many miracles.
48 Ka waweye odhi nyime kama, to ji duto biro yie kuome, kendo kamano otimore to jo-Rumi biro biro mi kaw karwa ka, kaachiel gi pinywa bende.”
If we suffer him to go on thus, all men will believe on him: and the Romans will come, and take away both our place and nation.
49 To achiel kuomgi, mane nyinge Kaifas, mane en jadolo maduongʼ e higano nowachonegi niya, “Un joma ok riek kata matin!
Then one particular person of them, Caiaphas, being the high-priest of that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing,
50 Ok unyal fwenyo ni en gima ber moloyo mondo ngʼato achiel otho ni ji duto, moloyo ka oganda duto otho.”
nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation be not destroyed.
51 Ne ok owacho wachni gi pache owuon, to kaka ne en jadolo maduongʼ e higano, nokoro wach ni Yesu ne biro tho ne piny jo-Yahudi,
And this he spake not from himself: but being the high-priest of that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;
52 to ok ne pinyno kende, to ne nyithind Nyasaye duto mokere, mondo ochokgi kaachiel, kendo omi gibed gimoro achiel.
and not for that nation only, but that he should collect into one body the children of God wherever dispersed.
53 Omiyo chakre chiengʼno kadhi nyime negichano kaka ginyalo nego Yesu.
Then from that day they consulted together how they might kill him.
54 Kuom mano, Yesu koro ne ok wuothi e dier jo-Yahudi ka ji nene. Nopondo modhi e gwengʼ man but thim, e dala miluongo ni Efraim, kendo nobet kuno gi jopuonjrene.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but went thence into the country bordering on the desert, to a city called Ephraim, and there he abode with his disciples.
55 Ka kinde mag Pasaka mar jo-Yahudi ne chiegni chopo, ji mangʼeny moa e gwenge mopogore opogore nodhi Jerusalem mondo gipwodhre kapok Pasaka ochopo.
Now the passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, in order to purify themselves.
56 Negisiko ka gimanyo Yesu, kendo negipenjore ngʼato gi ngʼato, ka gichungʼ ei alwora mar hekalu niya, “Uparo nade? Donge obiro biro e sawoni koso ok obi biro?”
Then they sought for Jesus, and said one to another, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Negiwacho kamano nikech jodolo madongo gi jo-Farisai ne osegolo chik ni ngʼato angʼata mongʼeyo kuma Yesu nitie nyaka ternegi wach mondo gidhi gimake.
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, that, if any person knew where he was, they should declare it, that they might apprehend him.
