< Johana 1 >

1 Kar chakruok, Wach ne nitie, kendo Wach ne ni kod Nyasaye, kendo Wach ne en Nyasaye.
In the beginning, was the Word; and the Word was with God; and the Word was God.
2 Ne en gi Nyasaye nyaka aa chakruok.
He was in the beginning with God.
3 En ema nomiyo gik moko duto ochwe; kendo ka dine onge en, to onge gima dine ochwe mosechwe.
Every thing was by his hand; and without him, was not any thing whatever that existed.
4 Ngima ne ni kuome, kendo ngimano ne en ler ni ji.
In him was life; and the life was the light of man.
5 Lerno rieny ei mudho, to mudho pok oime.
And this light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.
6 Nyasaye nooro ngʼat moro ma nyinge Johana.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 Nobiro kaka janeno mondo otim nend lerno, mondo kanyalore to ji duto oyie kuom lerno.
He came for testimony, to bear witness concerning the light.
8 Johana owuon ne ok en ler nogo, to nobiro mana kaka janeno mar lerno.
He was not himself the light, but came to bear witness concerning the light.
9 Ler mar adier machiwo ler ni ji duto noyudo biro e piny e kindeno.
The true light was that, which enlighteneth every man who cometh into the world.
10 Ne en e piny, to kata obedo ni en ema nomiyo ochwe piny, to piny ne ok ongʼeye.
He was in the world; and the world was by his hand; and the world did not know him.
11 Nobiro ir joge owuon, to joge ne ok orwake.
He came to his own people; and his own people received him not.
12 To ji duto mane orwake, mi oyie kuome, nomiyogi teko mar doko nyithind Nyasaye,
But such as received him, to them gave he the prerogative to be children of God; even to them that believe on his name;
13 ma gin nyithindo mane ok onywol koa e koth dhano, kata kuom pach dhano, kata kuom dwach dichwo, to nonywolgi kuom Nyasaye.
who are born, not of blood, nor of the pleasure of the flesh, nor of the pleasure of man, but of God.
14 Wach nodoko dhano kendo nodak kodwa. Waseneno duongʼne, ma en duongʼ mar Wuowi ma Miderma, ma noa ka Wuoro kopongʼ gi ngʼwono kod adiera.
And the: Word became flesh, and tabernacled with us: and we saw his glory, a glory as of the only begotten from the Father, that he was full of grace and truth.
15 Johana notimo neno kuome. Nokok matek kowacho niya, “Ma e Jal mane awuoyo kuome kane awachonu ni, ‘Jal mabiro bangʼa oloya mabor nikech ne entie kapok ne abetie.’”
John testified of him, and cried, and said: This is he, of whom I said, That he cometh after me, and is before me; for he was prior to me.
16 Waduto waseyudo gweth mogundho kuom ngʼwonone mathoth.
And of his plenitude have we all received, and grace for grace.
17 Chik nochiw kokalo kuom Musa, to ngʼwono kod adiera, to Yesu Kristo ema nokelo.
For the law was given by the hand of Moses; but the reality and grace was by the hand of Jesus Messiah.
18 Onge ngʼama oseneno Nyasaye, to Wuowi ma Miderma machiegni gi Wuoro ema osemiyo wangʼeye.
No man hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, he who is in the bosom of his Father, he hath declared him.
19 Ma e neno mane Johana otimo ka jo-Yahudi modak Jerusalem nooro jodolo gi jo-Lawi mondo openje ni ne en ngʼa.
And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews of Jerusalem sent to him priests and Levites, to ask him, Who art thou?
20 Johana ne ok opandonegi gimoro, to nohulonigi ka en thuolo niya, “Ok an Kristo.”
And he confessed, and denied not, but confessed I am not the Messiah.
21 Negipenje niya, “Kare in ngʼa? In Elija koso?” To nowacho niya, “Ok an.” “Koso in e janabi?” Nodwoko niya, “Ooyo.”
And they asked him again: Who then? Art thou Elijah? And he said: I am not. Art thou a prophet? And he said, No.
22 Eka negiwachone mogik niya, “Kare, in ngʼa? Miwa dwoko mondo water ni joma ne oorowa. Iwacho angʼo kuomi in iwuon?”
And they said to him: Who art thou? that we may give answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23 Johana nodwokogi gi weche mag Isaya Janabi niya, “An e ngʼat makok e thim ni, ‘Losuru yo moriere tir ne Jehova Nyasaye.’”
He said: I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make smooth the way of the Lord; as said the prophet Isaiah.
24 To jo-Farisai moko ma noor,
And they who were sent, were of the Pharisees.
25 nopenje niya, “Ka ok in Kristo, kata Elija, kata janabi, to angʼo momiyo ibatiso ji?”
And they asked him, and said to him: Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?
26 Johana nodwokogi niya, “An abatisou gi pi, to nitie ngʼato e dieru ma ukia.
John answered, and said to them; I baptize with water; but among you standeth one, whom ye do not know.
27 En Jal mabiro bangʼa, ma ok awinjora gonyo tond wuochene.”
He it is that cometh after me, and was before me, whose shoe-strings I am not worthy to untie.
28 Magi duto notimore Bethania, loka mar aora Jordan, kuma Johana ne batisoe ji.
These things occurred in Bethany, where John was baptizing.
29 Kinyne Johana noneno Yesu kabiro ire, mi nowacho niya, “Neuru, Jalcha e Nyarombo mar Nyasaye, magolo richo mar piny!
The day after, John saw Jesus coming towards him, and said: Behold, the Lamb of God, that beareth the sin of the world.
30 Ma e jal mane awuoyo kuome kane awacho ni, ‘Ngʼato mabiro bangʼa oloya mabor, nikech ne entie kapok ne abetie.’
This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who is before me, for he was prior to me.
31 An awuon ne ok angʼeye, to gimomiyo ne abiro ka abatiso ji gi pi ne en mondo ofwenyre ni Israel.”
And I knew him not; but that he might be known to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 Eka Johana notimo nenoni kama: “Ne aneno Roho kalor piny koa e polo e kido mar akuru kendo kapiyo kuome.
And John testified, and said: I saw the Spirit descend from heaven, as a dove, and rest upon him.
33 Ka dine Jal mane oora mondo abatis ji gi pi we nyisa, to dine ok angʼeye. Nonyisa ni, ‘Ngʼama ineno ka Roho olor mi opiyo kuome e Jal mabiro batiso ji gi Roho Maler.’
And I did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water, he said to me- On whom thou seest the Spirit descend, and rest upon him, he baptizeth with the Holy Spirit.
34 Koro aseneno mano kotimore omiyo anyisou ni en Wuod Nyasaye.”
And I saw; and I testify, that this is the Son of God.
35 Kinyne Johana ne ni kanyo kendo gi jopuonjrene ariyo.
And the next day, John was standing, and two of his disciples.
36 Kane gineno ka Yesu kalo machiegni, nowacho niya, “Neuru, Jalcha e Nyarombo mar Nyasaye!”
And he looked upon Jesus as he walked, and said: Behold, the Lamb of God!
37 Kane jopuonjrene ariyogo owinjo kowacho mano, negiluwo bangʼ Yesu.
And his two disciples heard him when he said it, and they went after Jesus.
38 Yesu nolokore monenogi ka giluwo bangʼe, mi nopenjogi niya, “Angʼo mudwaro?” Negiwachone niya, “Rabi” (ma tiende ni “Japuonj”), “idak kanye?”
And Jesus turned, and saw them coming after him, and he said to them: What seek ye? They said to him: Our Rabbi, where stayest thou?
39 Nodwokogi niya, “Biuru mondo udhi une.” Omiyo negidhi mine gineno kama ne odakie, kendo negibet kode kanyo odiechiengʼ ngima. Ne en kar sa apar mar odhiambo.
He said to them: Come, and see. And they came and saw where he lodged; and they were with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
40 Andrea mowadgi Simon Petro ne en achiel kuom ji ariyo mane owinjo gima Johana nowacho mi noluwo bangʼ Yesu.
And one of those who heard John and went after Jesus was Andrew, the brother of Simon.
41 Gima Andrea notimo mokwongo ne en manyo owadgi ma Simon kendo nyise niya, “Waseyudo Mesia” (tiende ni Kristo).
He first saw Simon his brother, and said to him: We have found the Messiah.
42 Omiyo nokelo Simon ir Yesu. Yesu nongʼiye tir mowachone niya, “In Simon wuod Johana, chiengʼ moro noluongi ni Kefa” (tiende ni Petro).
And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looked upon him, and said Thou art Simon the son of Jona; thou shalt be called Cephas.
43 Kinyne Yesu nongʼado e pache mondo oa odhi Galili. Kane oyudo Filipo, nowachone niya, “Luwa.”
The next day, Jesus was disposed to depart for Galilee: and he found Philip and said to him, Come after me.
44 Filipo, mana kaka Andrea gi Petro, ne aa e dala mar Bethsaida.
And Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Simon.
45 Filipo noyudo Nathaniel mowachone niya, “Waseyudo ngʼat ma Musa nondiko kuome e kitap Chik, kendo ma jonabi bende nondiko kuome, ma en Yesu ja-Nazareth, ma wuod Josef.”
And Philip found Nathaniel, and said to him: We have found him, of whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
46 Nathaniel nopenje niya, “Bende gima ber moro amora nyalo aa Nazareth adier?” Filipo nodwoke niya, “Bi mondo ine.”
Nathaniel said to him: Can there be any good thing from Nazareth? Philip said to him: Come, and see.
47 Kane Yesu oneno Nathaniel ka biro kochomo ire, nowuoyo kuome kowacho niya, “Neuru ja-Israel adier, maonge miganga moro amora kuome.”
And Jesus saw Nathaniel coming towards him, and said of him: Behold a real Israelite, in whom is no deceit.
48 Nathaniel nopenje niya, “Ingʼeya nade?” Yesu nodwoke niya, “Ne aneni sa ma ne in e tiend ngʼowu, kane pok Filipo oluongi.”
Nathaniel said to him: Whence knowest thou me? Jesus said to him: Before Philip called thee when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
49 Eka Nathaniel nodwoke niya, “Rabi, in Wuod Nyasaye adier; in Ruodh Israel.”
Nathaniel answered, and said to him: Rabbi; thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Yesu nowachone niya, “Iyie mana nikech aa wachoni ni nende aneni e tie yiend ngʼowu. To ibiro neno gik madongo mohingo mano.”
Jesus said to him: Because I said to thee, that I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou wilt see greater things than these.
51 Eka nomedo wacho niya, “Awachonu adier ni ubiro neno ka polo oyawore, kendo ka malaike mag Nyasaye idho kendo lor kuom Wuod Dhano.”
He said to him: Verily, verily, I say to you, That hereafter ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending unto the Son of man.
