< Ayub 1 >
1 Ne nitie ngʼat moro mane odak e piny Uz mane nyinge Ayub. Ngʼatni ne en ngʼama longʼo chuth kendo ngʼama kare; ne oluoro Nyasaye kendo nokwedo gik maricho.
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.
2 Ne en gi yawuowi abiriyo gi nyiri adek
There were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
3 kendo ne en gi rombe alufu abiriyo, ngamia alufu adek, rweth pur mia abich, gi punde mia abich, kendo ne en gi jotich mangʼeny. Kuom mano, ne en ngʼat marahuma moloyo ji duto modak yo wuok chiengʼ.
His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east.
4 Yawuote ne loso nyasi e utegi, ka moro ka moro kuomgi ni godiechienge kendo ne luongo nyiminegi adek mondo ochiem kendo ometh kodgi e nyasigigo.
His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5 Kane kinde mane gitimoe nyasigo oserumo, Ayub ne luongogi mondo opwodhgi. Okinyi kogwen notimo misango miwangʼo pep ne moro ka moro kuomgi, koparo ni dipo ka achiel kuomgi osetimo richo mi giyanyo Nyasaye gie chunygi. Ma ne en tim Ayub mane otimo kinde ka kinde.
It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.
6 Chiengʼ moro achiel malaike nobiro e nyim Jehova Nyasaye, kendo Satan bende nobiro kodgi.
Now on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan also came amongst them.
7 Jehova Nyasaye nopenjo Satan niya, “Ia kanye?” Satan nodwoko Jehova Nyasaye niya, “Asebedo ka abayo abaya e piny, kendo alworora koni gi koni.”
The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”
8 Eka Jehova Nyasaye nowachone Satan niya, “Dipo ka iseparo wach moro kuom jatichna Ayub? Onge ngʼato machielo e piny ngima machalo kode nikech olongʼo kendo ngʼama kare en ngʼat moluora kendo motangʼ ne richo.”
The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil.”
9 Satan nodwoko niya, “Iparo ni Ayub oluoro Nyasaye kaonge gima omiyo?
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?
10 Donge iseketo chiel molwore en kaachiel gi ode kod gik moko duto ma en-go? Donge isegwedho tich lwete, momiyo jambe gi kwethne olak e pinyno duto?
Haven’t you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11 Tem ane ikaw gik moko duto ma en-go ka ok dokwongʼi e wangʼi?”
But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”
12 Jehova Nyasaye nowachone Satan niya, “Kare ber, gimoro amora ma en-go ni e lweti, to en owuon kik imule kata gi lith lweti.” Eka Satan nowuok oa e nyim Jehova Nyasaye.
The LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
13 Chiengʼ moro ka nyithind Ayub ne chiemo kendo metho e od owadgi maduongʼ,
It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
14 achiel kuom jotij Ayub nobiro ire mowachone niya, “Noyudo ka wapuro gi rwedhi kendo punde ne kwayo machiegni kodwa,
that a messenger came to Job, and said, “The oxen were ploughing, and the donkeys feeding beside them,
15 to jo-Sabea nobiro momonjowa kendo okawogi duto. Bende gisenego jotiji duto gi ligangla ma an kendo ema atony mondo anyisi wachni!”
and the Sabeans attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
16 Kane oyudo pod owuoyo, jatich machielo nobiro mowacho niya, “Maj Nyasaye nolwar koa e polo mowangʼo rombe kaachiel gi jotich, kendo an kenda ema asetony mondo anyisi wachni!”
While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burnt up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
17 Kane pod owuoyo, jatich machielo nobiro mowacho niya, “Jo-Kaldea noloso migepe adek mag jolweny mi gimonjowa ma gikawo ngamia-gi duto kendo gidhigo. Gisenego jotichni duto gi ligangla, kendo an kenda ema asetony mondo anyisi wachni!”
While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
18 Kane pod owuoyo, jatich machielo bende nobiro mowacho niya, “Yawuoti gi nyigi ne jochiemo kendo metho e od owadgi maduongʼ,
While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
19 eka apoya nono yamo maduongʼ nomwomore koa e piny motimo ongoro kendo nogoyo konde angʼwen mag ot. Odno norwombore kendo giduto gisetho ma an kenda ema asetony mondo anyisi wachni!”
and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.”
20 E sa onogo, Ayub noa malo mi oyiecho lepe kendo olielo yie wiye. Eka nopodho piny auma kolemo,
Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshipped.
21 kowacho niya: “Ne aa ei minwa ka an duk, kendo abiro dok ka an aduk. Jehova Nyasaye ema nochiwo kendo Jehova Nyasaye ema osekawo; mad nying Jehova Nyasaye opaki.”
He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the LORD’s name.”
22 Kuom magi duto, Ayub ne ok otimo richo kata kwano Nyasaye kaka jaketho.
In all this, Job didn’t sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.
