< Jeremia 6 >

1 “Un jo-Benjamin, ringuru utony! Ringuru ua Jerusalem! Gouru turumbete Tekoa! Keturu ranyisi ewi Beth Hakerem! Nimar masira aa yo nyandwat, kod kethruok malich.
“Flee for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the middle of Jerusalem! Blow the shofar in Tekoa and raise up a signal on Beth Haccherem, for evil looks out from the north with a great destruction.
2 Anatiek nyar Sayun, ma ber neno kendo ma dende yom.
I will cut off the beautiful and delicate one, the daughter of Zion.
3 Jokwath kod jambgi noked kode; ginigur hembegi molwore, ka moro ka moro rito kare owuon.”
Shepherds with their flocks will come to her. They will pitch their tents against her all around. They will feed everyone in his place.”
4 “Ikri mar kedo kode! Wuoguru, wadhi wamonjgi e dier odiechiengʼ! To mano kaka ler mar odiechiengʼ bedo ma dimdim, kendo tipo mag odhiambo yware.
“Prepare war against her! Arise! Let’s go up at noon. Woe to us! For the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
5 Omiyo aa malo, wamonjgi gotieno kendo waketh ohingane motegno!”
Arise! Let’s go up by night, and let’s destroy her palaces.”
6 Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho: “Ngʼad yiende kendo iger pidhe mondo wamonj Jerusalem. Dala maduongʼni nyaka kum; nikech opongʼ gi joma hinyo jowadgi.
For the LORD of Hosts said, “Cut down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem. This is the city to be visited. She is filled with oppression within herself.
7 Kaka soko olo pige oko, e kaka en bende oolo timbene mamono. Lweny kod kethruok mor e iye; tuone kod adhondene osiko e nyima.
As a well produces its waters, so she produces her wickedness. Violence and destruction is heard in her. Sickness and wounds are continually before me.
8 Winj siem, yaye Jerusalem, ka ok kamano to abiro weyi, mi awe pinyi nono, ma ngʼato angʼata ok nyal dak e iye.”
Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.”
9 Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho: “Mad gidwog jo-Israel modongʼ kaka jochok olemb mzabibu; ngʼauru bedeu e bede yath, mana kaka ngʼama pono olemo.”
The LORD of Hosts says, “They will thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel like a vine. Turn again your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.”
10 En ngʼa ma anyalo wuoyogo kendo miyo siemni? En ngʼa manyalo winja? Itgi odino omiyo ok ginyal winjo wach. Wach Jehova Nyasaye chwanyogi; ok gine gima ber kuome.
To whom should I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can’t listen. Behold, the LORD’s word has become a reproach to them. They have no delight in it.
11 To apongʼ gi mirima mar Jehova Nyasaye, kendo ok anyal lingʼ kode. “Ole oko kuom nyithindo manie yore, kendo kuom yawuowi mochokore kanyakla; dichwo kaachiel gi dhako gini nomaki, kod joma oti, jogo mahikgi oniangʼ.
Therefore I am full of the LORD’s wrath. I am weary with holding it in. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife will be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.
12 Utegi ibiro miyo joma moko, kaachiel gi puothegi kod mondegi, ka arieyo lweta kuom jogo modak e piny,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
Their houses will be turned to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD.”
13 “Chakre ngʼama tin nyaka ngʼama duongʼ, giduto girikni ka gidwaro mwandu e yor miganga; jonabi kod jodolo chalre, giduto gin jo-miriambo.
“For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.
14 Githiedho adhonde mag joga mana ka gima ok en gima lich. Giwacho niya, ‘Kwe, kwe,’ kata mana ka kwe onge.
They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.
15 Bende gin-gi wichkuot kuom timbegi makwero? Ooyo, gionge wichkuot kata mana matin; ok gingʼeyo kata kaka ginyalo wuondore. Omiyo gibiro podho mana kaka joma moko mopodho; kendo ibiro dwokgi piny kakumogi,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. When I visit them, they will be cast down,” says the LORD.
16 Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho: “Chunguru e akek yore kendo urang wangʼ yore machon; penjuru kuma yo maber nitie, mondo uwuothie, kendo unuyud yweyo e chunyu. To ne uwacho ni, ‘Ok wanaluwe.’
The LORD says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
17 Ne aketonu jorito kendo awacho, ‘Chikuru itu ne turumbete!’ To ne uwacho, ‘Ok wanachik itwa.’
I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the shofar!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen!’
18 Omiyo winjuru, yaye un ogendini; ranguru malongʼo, yaye un joneno, gima biro timore negi.
Therefore hear, you nations, and know, congregation, what is among them.
19 Winji, yaye piny: Akelo masira ne jogi, ma en olemo mar pachgi maricho, nikech gitamore winjo wechena, kendo gisedagi chikna.
Hear, earth! Behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.
20 Ere tiend ubani mangʼwe ngʼar moa kuom Sheba kata niangʼ ma milimili moa e piny mabor? Chiwo magu mag misengini miwangʼo pep ok ayiego; misango magu ok mora.”
To what purpose does frankincense from Sheba come to me, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me.”
21 Emomiyo ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho: “Anaket rachwany e nyim jogi. Wuone kod yawuowi nochwanyre kuomgi; jogo modak mokiewo kodgi kod osiepe nolal nono.”
Therefore the LORD says, “Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people. The fathers and the sons together will stumble against them. The neighbor and his friend will perish.”
22 Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho: “Neuru, jolweny biro koa e piny man yo nyandwat; oganda maduongʼ itugo koa e tunge piny.
The LORD says, “Behold, a people comes from the north country. A great nation will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.
23 Gimanore gi atungʼ kod tongʼ; giger kendo gionge ngʼwono. Gimor ka nam mogingore ka giriembo faresegi; gibiro ka ji mochanore komanore gi gige lweny mondo gimonju, yaye Nyar Sayun.”
They take hold of bow and spear. They are cruel, and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Zion.”
24 Wasewinjo humbgi, kendo bedewa onge gi teko. Rem malich osemakowa, ka rem mar dhako mamuoch kayo.
We have heard its report. Our hands become feeble. Anguish has taken hold of us, and pains as of a woman in labor.
25 Kik udhi e puothe kata uwuothie yore, nimar jasigu nigi ligangla, kendo nitie luoro kamoro amora.
Don’t go out into the field or walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and terror are on every side.
26 Yaye joga, rwakuru lepu mag ywak kendo ngʼielreuru e buru; gouru nduru ka udengo malit mana ka ngʼama ywago wuode achiel kende, nimar apoya nono jaketh gik moko biro podho kuomwa.
Daughter of my people, clothe yourself with sackcloth, and wallow in ashes! Mourn, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation, for the destroyer will suddenly come on us.
27 “Aseketi rapim mipimogo chumbe to joga kama ikunye chumbe, mondo mi ingʼi kendo ipim yoregi.
“I have made you a tester of metals and a fortress among my people, that you may know and try their way.
28 Giduto gin jongʼanyo ma tokgi tek ta, ka gidhi ka gi kacha mar kuotho. Gin nyinyo kod chuma; giduto gin jomecho.
They are all grievous rebels, going around to slander. They are bronze and iron. All of them deal corruptly.
29 Kata obedo ni jotheth moko mach matek mondo oleny fedha, kendo opwodhi, to mano en mana kayiem nono; kamano bende joma richo ok nyal pwodhore.
The bellows blow fiercely. The lead is consumed in the fire. In vain they go on refining, for the wicked are not plucked away.
30 Iluongogi ni fedha mojwangʼ, nikech Jehova Nyasaye osejwangʼogi.”
Men will call them rejected silver, because the LORD has rejected them.”
