Jeremia 35

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.

3 Omiyo ne adhi mondo aom Jazania wuod Jeremia, ma wuod Habazinia gi owetene kod yawuote duto, anywola duto mag joka Rekab.

Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

4 Ne akelogi e od Jehova Nyasaye, e agola mar yawuot Hanan wuod Igdalia ngʼat Nyasaye. Ne entiere machiegni gi agola mar jotelo, mane okalo mano mar Maseya wuod Shalum ma jarit dhood hekalu.

And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, who was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:

5 Eka ne apango bakunde mopongʼ gi divai kod kikombe moko e nyim chwo mag anywola mag Rekab kendo awachonegi niya, “Madhuru divai.”

And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said to them, Drink ye wine.

6 To negidwoko niya, “Ok wamadh divai, nikech kwarwa Jehonadab wuod Rekab nomiyowa chikni: ‘Un kata nyikwau ok onego madh divai.

But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:

7 Bende kik uger udi, kata komo kodhi kata pidho mzabibu; gigi ok onego ubed godo, to nyaka udag e hembe. Eka unudag kinde marabora e piny kama unie jokwath.’

Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye are strangers.

Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;

Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:

10 Wasedak e hembe kendo waserito gimoro amora ma kwarwa Jehonadab nochikowa.

But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

11 To Nebukadneza ruodh Babulon nomonjo pinyni, ne wawacho ni, ‘Biuru, nyaka wadhi Jerusalem wapondne jolweny mag Babulon kod mag jo-Aram kapok gimakowa.’ Omiyo ne wadongʼ Jerusalem.”

But it came to pass, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.

12 Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro ne Jeremia, kawacho niya:

Then came the word of the LORD to Jeremiah, saying,

13 “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego, ma Nyasach Israel, wacho: Dhiyo kendo inyis chwo ma Juda kod jo-Jerusalem ni, ‘Donge unyalo puonjoru kuom ma mi urit wechena?’ Jehova Nyasaye owacho.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD.

14 ‘Jehonadab wuod Rekab nochiwo chik ne yawuote ni kik madh divai kendo chikni oseriti. Nyaka kawuononi pod ok gimadho divai, nikech girito chik kwargi. To asewuoyo kinde ka kinde, to kata kamano pod ok umiya luor.

The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for to this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: however I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not to me.

15 Pile ka pile ne aoro jotijena ma jonabi duto iru. Negiwacho niya, “Uduto nyaka uwe yoreu mamono kendo ulok timbeu; kik ulu bangʼ nyiseche manono mondo utinegi. Eka udag e piny ma asemiyou kod wuoneu.” To pod ok uchiko itu kata winja.

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened to me.

16 Nyikwa Jehonadab wuod Rekab oserito chike mane kweregi omiyogi, to jogi pod ok omiya luor.’

Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not hearkened to me:

17 “Emomiyo, ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego, ma Nyasach Israel, wacho: ‘Winjuru! Anakel kuom Juda kod ji duto modak Jerusalem kit masira moro amora mahero. Ne awuoyo kodgi, to ne ok giwinja; ne aluongogi, to ne ok gidwoka.’”

Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.

18 Eka Jeremia nonyiso anywola mar joka Rekab niya, “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego, ma Nyasach Israel, wacho: ‘Userito chik mar kwaru Jehonadab kendo useluwo puonjne duto kendo usetimo gik moko duto mane ochikou.’

And Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he hath commanded you:

19 Emomiyo, ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego, ma Nyasach Israel, wacho: ‘Jehonadab wuod Rekab ok nobed maonge gi ngʼama tiyone.’”

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before me for ever.
