< Jeremia 23 >
1 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Mano kaka unune malit un jokwath maketho kendo keyo romba kar kwadhgi!”
“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” declares the LORD.
2 Emomiyo ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye, Nyasach Israel, wachone jokwath makwayo joga: “Nikech usekeyo romba kendo uriembogi kendo ok useritogi, anakumu kuom timbe mamono musetimo,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the shepherds who tend My people: “You have scattered My flock and driven them away, and have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your deeds, declares the LORD.
3 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “An awuon anachok romba modongʼ e pinje duto kuonde maseriembogie anadwog-gi legegi kama gibiro nyaa kendo kwan-gi nomedre.
Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock from all the lands to which I have banished them, and I will return them to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and multiply.
4 Anamigi jokwath manoritgi, kendo ok ginibed maluor kata ok ginibwogi, bende onge manolal,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
I will raise up shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any go missing, declares the LORD.
5 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Kinde biro ma anami Daudi Bad Yath makare, Ruoth manobed gi loch mar rieko kendo tim gima kare kendo ratiro e piny.
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will reign wisely as King and will administer justice and righteousness in the land.
6 E ndalone Juda noresi kendo Israel nodag gi kwe. Ma e nying ma ibiro luongego: Jehova Nyasaye mamiyo wabedo jo-ratiro.”
In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
7 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Ndalo biro ma ji ok nowach kendo ni, ‘Akwongʼora gi nying Jehova Nyasaye mangima, manogolo jo-Israel Misri,’
So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they will no longer say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of Egypt.’
8 to giniwachi, ‘Akwongʼora gi nying Jehova Nyasaye mangima, mane ogolo nyithind Israel e piny ma yo nyandwat kendo e pinje duto mane oseriembogie.’ Bangʼe gibiro dak e pinygi giwegi.”
Instead they will say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel up out of the land of the north and all the other lands to which He had banished them.’ Then they will dwell once more in their own land.”
9 Kuom jonabi: Chunya maiye ool; chokega duto tetni. Achalo ngʼama omer, mana ka ngʼama divai osemero, nikech Jehova Nyasaye kod wechene maler.
As for the prophets: My heart is broken within me, and all my bones tremble. I have become like a drunkard, like a man overcome by wine, because of the LORD, because of His holy words.
10 Piny opongʼ gi joma terore; nikech kwongʼ, piny obaro okak kendo kuonde kwath otimo ongoro. Jonabi luwo bangʼ timbe mamono kendo gitiyo gi teko mag-gi e yo ma ok nikare.
For the land is full of adulterers— because of the curse, the land mourns and the pastures of the wilderness have dried up— their course is evil and their power is misused.
11 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Jonabi kod jodolo ok oluoro Nyasaye; kata mana ei hekalu mara ayudoe timbegi maricho.”
“For both prophet and priest are ungodly; even in My house I have found their wickedness,”
12 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Emomiyo yoregi nobed mapoth poth; notergi e mudho kendo kanyo ginipodhie piny. Anakel masira kuomgi e higa mokumgie.
“Therefore their path will become slick; they will be driven away into the darkness and fall into it. For I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment,”
13 “Kuom jonabi mag Samaria ne aneno gino mawangʼo ich: Ne gikoro e nying Baal kendo ma gimiyo joga Israel obayo yo.
“Among the prophets of Samaria I saw an offensive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.
14 Kendo e kind jonabi mag Jerusalem aseneno gimoro malich mokadho: Giterore kendo gidak e ngima mar miriambo. Gijiwo joma timbegi mono, mondo omi kik ngʼato olokre owe timbene maricho. Giduto gichalo Sodom ne an; jo-Jerusalem chalo gi Gomora.”
And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: They commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns his back on wickedness. They are all like Sodom to Me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”
15 Emomiyo, ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho kuom jonabi: “Anami gicham chiemo makech kendo modh pi motimo sum, nikech koa kuom jonabi mag Jerusalem kia Nyasaye oselandore e piny ngima.”
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the prophets: “I will feed them wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”
16 Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho: “Kik uchik itu ne gigo ma jonabi koronu; gipongʼo itu gi geno mag miriambo. Giwachonu fweny moa e pachgi giwegi, ok moa e dho Jehova Nyasaye.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
17 Gisiko giwachone jogo ma jara ni, ‘Jehova Nyasaye wacho: Unubed gi kwe.’ Kendo ne jogo maluwo timbe achach mag chunjegi wacho ni, ‘Onge gima biro hinyowa.’
They keep saying to those who despise Me, ‘The LORD says that you will have peace,’ and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, ‘No harm will come to you.’
18 To en ngʼa kuomgi mosechungoe kar ngʼado bura mar Jehova Nyasaye, mondo one kata owinji wachne?
But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and hear His word? Who has given heed to His word and obeyed it?
19 Neuru, apaka mar Jehova Nyasaye nomwomre gi mirima, ka kalausi mafuyo e wiye joma timbegi richo.
Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with fury, a whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked.
20 Mirimb Jehova Nyasaye ok nodog chien nyaka one ni ochopo thoro mar chunye. E ndalo mabiro iniwinj tiende malongʼo.
The anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has fully accomplished the purposes of His heart. In the days to come you will understand this clearly.
21 Ne ok aoro jonabigi, kata kamano giseringo gi wechegi; ne ok awuoyo kodgi, to kata kamano gisekoro wach.
I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied.
22 To kane ginyalo chungoe kara mar ngʼado bura, dine gilando wechena ne joga kendo gilokore gia e yoregi mamono, kod timbegi mamono.”
But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds.”
23 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Ok an Nyasaye mantie machiegni kende, to an Nyasaye man mabor bende.”
“Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “and not a God far away?”
24 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Bende ngʼato nyalo pondo kuonde mopandore mondo omi kik anene? Donge apongʼo polo gi piny?”
“Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD.
25 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Asewinjo gima jonabi makoro e nyinga gi miriambo wacho. Giwacho ni, ‘Ne aleko! Ne aleko!’
“I have heard the sayings of the prophets who prophesy lies in My name: ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’
26 Nyaka karangʼo ma gigi nosik e chunje jonabi mariambogi, makoro gigo moa e pachgi giwegi?
How long will this continue in the hearts of these prophets who prophesy falsehood, these prophets of the delusion of their own minds?
27 Giparo ni lek ma ginyisore giwegi nomi ji wigi nowil gi nyinga, mana kaka wuonegi wigi nowil koda kaluwore gilamo mane gilamogo Baal.”
They suppose the dreams that they tell one another will make My people forget My name, just as their fathers forgot My name through the worship of Baal.
28 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “We janabi man-gi lek owach lekne, to we ngʼat man giwachna owache gadiera. Nimar en angʼo ma miudhwe nyalo timo gi cham?”
Let the prophet who has a dream retell it, but let him who has My word speak it truthfully. For what is straw compared to grain?” declares the LORD.
29 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Donge wachna chalo gi mach kendo ka nyundo matoyo kidi matindo tindo?”
“Is not My word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that smashes a rock?”
30 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Emomiyo amon gi jonabi makwalo weche ma giwacho ni oa kuoma e kindgi giwegi.”
“Therefore behold,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words they attribute to Me.”
31 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Ee, ok ahero jonabi ma milo lewgi giwegi kagiwacho ni, ‘Jehova Nyasaye owacho.’”
“Yes,” declares the LORD, “I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and proclaim, ‘The LORD declares it.’”
32 Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Adiera, ok ahero jogo makoro lek mag miriambo. Ginyisogi kendo giwito joga gi miriambo mag-gi maonge korgi gi atachgi, to ne ok aorogi kata yierogi. Ok gimi jogi ohala kata matin,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
“Indeed,” declares the LORD, “I am against those who prophesy false dreams and retell them to lead My people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent them or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people,” declares the LORD.
33 “Ka jogi, kata janabi kata jadolo, openji ni, ‘Wach mar Jehova Nyasaye en mane?’ To penjgi ni, ‘Wach mane? Anajwangʼu, Jehova Nyasaye owacho.’
“Now when this people or a prophet or priest asks you, ‘What is the burden of the LORD?’ you are to say to them, ‘What burden? I will forsake you, declares the LORD.’
34 Ka janabi kata jadolo kata ngʼato angʼata owacho ni, ‘Ma en wach mar Jehova Nyasaye,’ to anakum ngʼatno kod joode duto.
As for the prophet or priest or anyone who claims, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ I will punish that man and his household.
35 Ma e gima ngʼato ka ngʼato kuomu siko wachone osiepne kata watne: ‘Dwoko Jehova Nyasaye en angʼo?’ kata, ‘En angʼo ma Jehova Nyasaye wacho?’
This is what each man is to say to his friend and to his brother: ‘What has the LORD answered?’ or ‘What has the LORD spoken?’
36 To kik ichak iwach kendo ni, ‘wach mar Jehova Nyasaye,’ nikech wach ngʼato ka ngʼato owuon ema bedone wach maber bangʼe ijaro weche Nyasaye mangima, Jehova Nyasaye Maratego ma Nyasachwa.
But refer no more to the burden of the LORD, for each man’s word becomes the burden, so that you pervert the words of the living God, the LORD of Hosts, our God.
37 Ma e gima usebedo ka unyiso janabi: ‘Jehova Nyasaye miyi dwoko mane?’ kata, ‘Jehova Nyasaye osewacho angʼo?’
Thus you are to say to the prophet: ‘What has the LORD answered you?’ and ‘What has the LORD spoken?’
38 Kata obedo ni iwacho ni, ‘Ma e wach mar Jehova Nyasaye,’ to ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho: Ne itiyo gi weche ka iwacho ni, ‘Ma e wach mar Jehova Nyasaye,’ kata obedoni ne awachonu ni kik uwach ni, ‘Ma e wach mar Jehova Nyasaye.’
But if you claim, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ then this is what the LORD says: Because you have said, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ and I specifically told you not to make this claim,
39 Emomiyo, adiera wiya nowil kodu kendo ma agolu oko e nyim wangʼa kaachiel gi dala maduongʼ mane amiyou kod wuoneu.
therefore I will surely forget you and will cast you out of My presence, both you and the city that I gave to you and your fathers.
40 Anakelnu wichkuot manyaka chiengʼ ma en wichkuot ma wich ok nowilgo.”
And I will bring upon you everlasting shame and perpetual humiliation that will never be forgotten.”
