1 E higa mar apar gangʼwen mar loch Ruoth Hezekia, Senakerib ruodh Asuria nomonjo mier madongo duto mochiel motegno mag Juda mokawogi.
And it comes to pass, in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Asshur has come up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and seizes them.
2 Eka ruodh Asuria ne ooro jatend lweny gi ogandane mag lweny koa Lakish mondo odhi ir Ruoth Hezekia Jerusalem. Kane jatend lweny ochopo kuno, ne ochungʼ but Soko Mamalo mantie e yo miluongo ni Puoth Jaluoko.
And the king of Asshur sends Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem, to King Hezekiah, with a heavy force, and he stands by the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller’s field,

and Eliakim son of Hilkiah goes forth to him, who [is] over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph, the remembrancer.

And Rabshakeh says to them, “Now say to Hezekiah, Thus said the great king, the king of Asshur: What [is] this confidence in which you have confided?
5 Uwacho ni un gi rieko kod teko mangʼeny mar lweny, to gik ma uwacho onge tiendgi. En ngʼa ma uketo genou kuome, mamiyo ungʼanyo uweya?
I have said, Only a word of the lips! Counsel and might [are] for battle. Now, on whom have you trusted, that you have rebelled against me?

Behold, you have trusted on the staff of this broken reed—on Egypt—which a man leans on, and it has gone into his hand, and pierced it—so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all those trusting on him.
7 To ka uwachona niya, “Wan waketo genowa kuom Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachwa” to donge en ema kuondene motingʼore malo kod kendene mag misango Hezekia nogolo kowachone jo-Juda gi jo-Jerusalem niya, “Nyaka ulam mana e nyim kendo mar misangoni kende”?
And do you say to me, We have trusted in our God YHWH? Is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has turned aside, and says to Judah and to Jerusalem, Bow yourselves before this altar?
8 “‘Biuru sani mondo uwinjru gi ruodha, ma en ruodh Asuria: Abiro miyou farese alufu ariyo, ka unyalo yudo joma riembogi!

9 Ere kaka koro uparo ni unyalo loyo achiel kuom jotend jolweny matinie moloyo mag ruodha ka uketo genou mana kuom jolwenj Misri gi faresegi?
And how do you turn back the face of one captain of the least of the servants of my lord, and trust on Egypt for yourself, for chariot and for horsemen?
10 To moloyo mano iparo ni asebiro monjo pinyni mana gi pacha awuon ka ok en wach moa kuom Jehova Nyasaye? Jehova Nyasaye owuon ema osenyisa mondo abi amonj pinyni kendo akethe.’”
And now, without YHWH have I come up against this land to destroy it? YHWH said to me, Go up to this land, and you have destroyed it.”
11 Eka Eliakim, Shebna kod Joa nowachone jatend lweny niya, “Yie iwuo gi jotichni gi dho jo-Aram nimar wawinjo dhokno. We wuoyo kodwa gi dho jo-Hibrania nikech joma ni e ohinga nyalo winjo gik miwachonwa.”
And Eliakim says—and Shebna and Joah—to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants [in] Aramaic, for we are understanding; and do not speak to us [in] Jewish, in the ears of the people who [are] on the wall.”
12 To jatend lweny nodwokogi niya, “Uparo ni un kod ruodhu kendu ema ne ruodha oora iru mondo awachnu wechegi, to ok ne joma obedo ei ohinga; bende ungʼeyo ni jogo kaachiel gi un biro bangʼo chiethgi kendo madho lachgi?”
And Rabshakeh says, “To your lord, and to you, has my lord sent me to speak these words? Is it not for the men—those sitting on the wall to eat their own dung and to drink their own water with you?”
13 Eka jatend lweny nochungʼ moluongo matek gi dho jo-Hibrania niya, “Winjuru weche moa kuom ruoth maduongʼ ma en ruodh Asuria!
And Rabshakeh stands and calls with a great voice [in] Jewish, and says, “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Asshur—
14 Ma e gima ruoth wacho: Kik uyie Hezekia wuondu nikech ok onyal resou!
thus said the king: Do not let Hezekiah lift you up, for he is not able to deliver you;

18 “Kik uwe Hezekia wuondu kowachonu ni, ‘Jehova Nyasaye biro resowa.’ Bende nyaka nene nyasach piny moro amora osereso ogandane e lwet ruodh Asuria?
lest Hezekiah persuades you, saying, YHWH delivers us. Have the gods of the nations each delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Asshur?
19 Ere nyiseche mag Hamath gi Arpad? Ere nyiseche mag Sefarvaim? Bende ne gireso Samaria e lweta?
Where [are] the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where [are] the gods of Sepharvaim, that they have delivered Samaria out of my hand?
20 Kuom nyiseche duto mag pinjegi, en mane mosereso pinye e lweta? To koro ere kaka uparo ni Jehova Nyasaye nyalo reso Jerusalem e lweta?”
Who among all the gods of these lands [are] they who have delivered their land out of my hand, that YHWH delivers Jerusalem out of my hand?”
21 To ji duto nolingʼ thi maonge ngʼama dwoko nimar ruoth Hezekia nosegolo chik niya, “Kik udwoke.”
And they keep silent, and have not answered him a word, for a command of the king is, saying, “Do not answer him.”
