< Hosea 13 >

1 Kane Efraim owuoyo, to ji ne tetni, nodhiale e piny Israel. To notimo richo kuom lamo Baal, mi notho.
“When Ephraim speaks tremblingly, He has been lifted up in Israel, When he becomes guilty in Ba‘al he dies.
2 Koro gimedo timo richo, bende giloso nyisechegi mag fedha mondo gilam, ma gin kido molos gi rieko mangʼeny, magi duto gin tich jopa bepe. Wachore kuom jogi niya, “Gitimo misango gi dhano, kendo ginyodho kido molos mar nyaroya.”
And now they sin, And make for themselves a molten image of their silver, By their own understanding—idols, A work of artisans—all of it, Of them they say, who [are] sacrificers among men, The calves let them kiss.
3 Emomiyo ginichal mana kaka ongʼwengʼo mokinyi, bende kaka thoo mar okinyi malal nono ka nyango owuok, bende kaka mihudhwe ma yamo keyo kar dino, bende kaka iro mawuok e dirisa.
Therefore they are as a cloud of the morning, And as dew, rising early, going away, As chaff tossed about out of a floor, And as smoke out of a window.
4 “To An e Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachu mane ogolou ua e piny Misri. Ok unyal yango Nyasaye moro amora ma ok An, onge Jawar machielo makmana An.
And I [am] your God YHWH from the land of Egypt, And you do not know a God besides Me, And a Savior—there is none except Me.
5 Ne aritou e piny motwo, maliel ka mach.
I have known you in a wilderness, In a land of droughts.
6 Kane apidhogi ne giyiengʼ chuth; kane giseyiengʼ to sunga nomakogi; ma wigi owil koda.
They are satiated according to their feedings, They have been satiated, And their heart is lifted up, Therefore they have forgotten Me,
7 Omiyo anabi irgi ka sibuor, kendo ka kwach abiro buto negi e bath yo.
And I am to them as a lion, I look out as a leopard by the way.
8 Anamonjgi mi ayiechgi matindo tindo mana ka ondiek ma omaa nyithinde. Anatiekgi mana ka sibuor, bende le mag bungu noyiechgi matindo tindo.
I meet them as a bereaved bear, And I tear the enclosure of their heart, And I consume them there as a lioness, A beast of the field tears them.
9 “Osetieku yaye Israel, nikech ok udwara, ok udwar jakonyu.
You have destroyed yourself, O Israel, But in Me [is] your help;
10 Ere ruodhu mondo koro oresu? Ere jotendu e miechu, mane usekwayo ni, ‘Miwa ruodh kod jotendwa?’
Where [is] your king now—And he saves you in all your cities? And your judges of whom you said, Give a king and heads to me?
11 Kuom ich wangʼ mare ne amiyou ruoth kendo e mirimba ne agole oko.
I give to you a king in My anger, And I take away in My wrath.
12 Timbe mamono mag Efraim osekan, kendo richoge osendik e kitabu.
Bound up [is] the iniquity of Ephraim, Hidden [is] his sin,
13 Rem machalo gi mar dhako mamuoch kayo nobine, to en nyathi maonge gi rieko, ma ka sa ochopo monego owuog e ich to okia kama iwuok godo.
Pangs of a travailing woman come to him, He [is] not a wise son, For he does not remain [at] the time for the breaking forth of sons.
14 “Abiro resogi kuom teko mar piny joma otho kendo anakonygi kuom tho. In tho, ere masicheni duto, kata in piny joma otho, ere kethruokni? “Ok anakeche, (Sheol h7585)
Will I ransom them from the hand of Sheol? Will I redeem them from death? Where [is] your plague, O death? Where your destruction, O Sheol? Comfort is hid from My eyes. (Sheol h7585)
15 kata ka obedo ni odhi maber kamano e kind owetene. Yamb yor wuok chiengʼ moa ir Jehova Nyasaye nobi, kakudho koa e piny motwo, ma pigene mag sokni mamol nodwon, kod yewni mokuny bende nodwon. Mwandune manie dechege noyaki duto.
Though he produces fruit among brothers, An east wind comes in, a wind of YHWH, From a wilderness it is coming up, And it dries up his fountain, And his spring becomes dry, It—it spoils a treasure—every desirable vessel.
16 Jo-Samaria nokum kuom richogi nikech gisengʼanyo ne Nyasachgi. Noneg-gi gi ligangla; nyithindgi matindo nochwad piny, to mondgi mapek nobar iyegi.”
Samaria becomes desolate, Because she has been rebellious against her God, They fall by sword, Their sucklings are dashed in pieces, And its pregnant ones are ripped up!”
