In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, this message from the Lord came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest:
2 Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho niya, “Ogendinigi wacho ni, ‘Kinde pok ochopo monego gerne Nyasaye hekalu mare.’”
The Lord of hosts says: The people say that the time has not yet come to rebuild the temple of the Lord.
3 Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro gi dwond janabi Hagai kawacho niya:
Then this message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet:
4 “Bende en gima ber adier ka un uwegi udakie uteu mugero mabeyo, to hekalu marani to omukore machal kama?”
Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your own well-roofed houses, while this temple lies in ruins?
5 Ma emomiyo Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho niya, “Nonuru timbeu.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your past experiences.
6 Usechwoyo mangʼeny, to ukayo mana matin; uchiemo, to gima uchamo ok nyal yiengʼou, umetho, to ok romu; urwakoru gi lewni, to onge kata ngʼato achiel kuomu mayudo liet; to nyaka un joma nwangʼo chudo, bangʼ ka unwangʼo chudo to uketo mana ei ofuku motuch.”
You sow much, but bring in little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but are not filled; you clothe yourselves, but not enough to be warm; and those who earn wages, put those wages in a bag with holes.
7 Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho niya, “Nonuru timbeu.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your experiences.
8 Idh-uru udhi e gode mondo ukel yien ugernago ot manyalo morgo, kama duongʼna maler nyalo nenoree,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
Go up to the mountains, and bring wood and rebuild the temple; then I will be pleased with it, and I will reveal my glory. The Lord says:
9 “Usegombo yudo mangʼeny, to osetamore ma uyudo mana matin; to kata mana mano mago ma usechoko mukeloe dala, abiro kudho oko. Mani notimore nikech angʼo?” Jehova Nyasaye Maratego penjo. “Nikech hekaluna ma uweyo odongʼ gunda, ka un uwegi to uringo kudhi e uteu molos mabeyo.
You looked for much, and it came to little; and when you brought the harvest home, I blew it away. Why? The Lord of hosts says: Because my temple lies in ruins, while you shelter in your own houses.
10 Mano emomiyo koro Polo malo ok nyal miyou koth kata matin, kendo piny osiko mana kotwo ma ok nyal nyago gimoro.
The heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit,

and I have called forth a drought upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the grain and the new wine and the oil and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon people and animals, and upon all the labor of your hands.
12 Eka Zerubabel ma wuod Shealtiel kod Joshua wuod Jehozadak, ma jadolo maduongʼ, kaachiel gi ji mamoko mane oa e twech, kane giwinjo weche Nyasaye gi weche mag janabi Hagai, kaka Jehova Nyasaye ne oore, luoro maduongʼ nomakogi e nyim Ruoth.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, with all the rest of the people, obeyed the command of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him to them. They showed proper respect for the Lord.
13 Eka Hagai jaote mar Jehova Nyasaye, nowuoyo kod ji konyisogi weche mane Jehova Nyasaye omiye, kowacho niya, “An kodu,” Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
Haggai, the prophet of the Lord, as the Lord commanded him, told the people: “The Lord says: I am with you.”
14 Eka Jehova Nyasaye nojiwo chuny Zerubabel wuod Shealtiel mane jatend piny Juda, chuny Joshua, kod chuny joma moko mane oa e twech. Negibiro kendo gichako tich e od Jehova Nyasaye Maratego ma Nyasachgi,
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people, so that they came and worked on the temple of the Lord of hosts, their God,
