1 Magi e joka Esau (ma tiende ni Edom).

And these [are] the generations of Esau, who [is] Edom.

2 Esau nokendo nyi Kanaan: Ada nyar Elon ja-Hiti, kod Oholibama nyar Ana ma nyakwar Zibeon ja-Hivi,

Esau has taken his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,

3 gi Basemath nyar Ishmael kendo ma nyamin Nebayoth.

and Bashemath daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebajoth.

4 Ada nonywolone Esau Elifaz, to Basemath nonywolo Reuel,

And Adah bears to Esau, Eliphaz; and Bashemath has borne Reuel;

5 kendo Oholibama nonywolo Jeush, Jalam kod Kora. Magi ema ne yawuot Esau, mane onywol Kanaan.

and Aholibamah has borne Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah. These [are] sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

6 Esau nokawo monde, yawuote, nyige kod joode duto kaachiel gi jambe duto kod mwandu duto mane oyudo Kanaan, kendo nodhi e piny moro mabor gi Jakobo owadgi.

And Esau takes his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his livestock, and all his beasts, and all his substance which he has acquired in the land of Canaan, and goes into the country from the face of his brother Jacob;

7 Mwandugi ne ngʼeny makoro ne ok ginyal dak kamoro achiel; piny mane gidakie ne tin ma ok nyal romogi nikech kwethgi.

for their substance was more abundant than to dwell together, and the land of their sojournings was not able to bear them because of their livestock;

8 Kuom mano Esau (ma tiende ni Edom) nodhi odak e piny gode man Seir.

and Esau dwells in Mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

9 Ma e nonro mar joka Esau ma kwar jo-Edom manodak e piny gode mar Seir.

And these [are] the generations of Esau, father of Edom, in Mount Seir.

10 Magi e nying yawuot Esau: Elifaz wuod Esau mane Ada onywolone, kod Reuel wuod Esau mane Basemath onywolone.

These [are] the names of the sons of Esau: Eliphaz son of Adah, wife of Esau; Reuel son of Bashemath, wife of Esau.

11 Elifaz nonywolo: Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam kod Kenaz.

And the sons of Eliphaz are Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz;

12 Elifaz wuod Esau bende ne nigi jatich madhako miluongo ni Timna mane onywolone Amalek. Magi ema ne nyikwa Ada chi Esau.

and Timnath has been concubine to Eliphaz son of Esau, and she bears to Eliphaz, Amalek; these [are] sons of Adah wife of Esau.

13 Yawuot Reuel ne gin: Nahath, Zera, Shama kod Miza. Magi ema ne nyikwa Basemath chi Esau.

And these [are] sons of Reuel: Nahath and Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah; these were sons of Bashemath wife of Esau.

14 Yawuot Oholibama, chi Esau ma nyar Ana kendo nyakwar Zibeon mane onywolone Esau ne gin: Jeush, Jalam kod Kora.

And these have been the sons of Aholibamah daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon, wife of Esau; and she bears to Esau, Jeush and Jaalam and Korah.

15 Magi ema ne jodong joka Esau: Yawuot Elifaz ma wuod Esau makayo gin: Jaduongʼ Teman, Omar, Zefo, Kenaz,

These [are] chiefs of the sons of Esau: sons of Eliphaz, firstborn of Esau: Chief Teman, Chief Omar, Chief Zepho, Chief Kenaz,

16 Kora, Gatam kod Amalek magi e jodongo ma nyikwa Elifaz mane odak Edom; bende ne gin nyikwa Ada.

Chief Korah, Chief Gatam, Chief Amalek; these [are] chiefs of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom; these [are] sons of Adah.

17 Yawuot Reuel wuod Esau ne gin: Jaduongʼ Nahath, Zera, Shama kod Miza. Magi e jodongo ma nyikwa Reuel mane odak Edom; bende ne gin nyikwa Basemath chi Esau.

And these [are] sons of Reuel son of Esau: Chief Nahath, Chief Zerah, Chief Shammah, Chief Mizzah; these [are] chiefs of Reuel, in the land of Edom; these [are] sons of Bashemath wife of Esau.

18 Yawuot Oholibama ma chi Esau gin: Jaduongʼ Jeush, Jalam kod Kora. Magi ema ne jodongo mowuok kuom Oholibama ma chi Esau nyar Ana.

And these [are] sons of Aholibamah wife of Esau: Chief Jeush, Chief Jaalam, Chief Korah; these [are] chiefs of Aholibamah daughter of Anah, wife of Esau.

19 Magi ema ne yawuot Esau (ma tiende ni Edom), kendo magi ema ne jodong-gi.

These [are] sons of Esau (who [is] Edom), and these their chiefs.

20 Magi ema ne yawuot Seir ja-Hori, mane odak e gwengʼno: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Ana,

These [are] sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,

21 Dishon, Ezer, kod Dishan. Yawuot Seir gi, mane odak Edom ema ne jodong jo-Hori.

and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan; these [are] chiefs of the Horites, sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.

22 Lotan nonywolo: Hori kod Homam. Timna ne en nyamin Lotan.

And the sons of Lotan are Hori and Heman; and a sister of Lotan [is] Timna.

23 Shobal nonywolo: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shefo kod Onam.

And these [are] sons of Shobal: Alvan and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho and Onam.

24 Zibeon nonywolo: Aiya, kod Ana. (Ma e Ana mane ofwenyo thidhna mar pi maliet e thim kane oyudo okwayo punde wuon mare Zibeon.)

And these [are] sons of Zibeon, both Ajah and Anah: it [is] Anah that has found the Imim in the wilderness, in his feeding the donkeys of his father Zibeon.

25 Ana nonywolo: Dishon, kod Oholibama nyar Ana.

And these [are] sons of Anah: Dishon, and Aholibamah daughter of Anah.

26 Dishon nonywolo: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran kod Keran.

And these [are] sons of Dishon: Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.

27 Ezer nonywolo: Bilhan, Zavan kod Akan.

These [are] sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.

28 Dishan nonywolo: Uz kod Aran.

These [are] sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

29 Magi ema ne jodong jo-Hori: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Ana,

These [are] chiefs of the Horite: Chief Lotan, Chief Shobal, Chief Zibeon, Chief Anah,

30 Dishon, Ezer kod Dishan. Magi ema ne jodong jo-Hori, kaluwore gi dhoutgi e piny mar Seir.

Chief Dishon, Chief Ezer, Chief Dishan: these [are] chiefs of the Horite in reference to their chiefs in the land of Seir.

31 Magi e ruodhi mane orito piny Edom kane jo-Israel ne pod onge kod ruodhi:

And these [are] the kings who have reigned in the land of Edom before the reigning of a king over the sons of Israel.

32 Bela wuod Beor nobedo ruodh Edom. Dalane maduongʼ niluongo ni Dinhaba.

And Bela son of Beor reigns in Edom, and the name of his city [is] Dinhabah;

33 Kane Bela otho, Jobab wuod Zera mane ja-Bozra nobedo ruoth kare.

and Bela dies, and Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah reigns in his stead;

34 Kane Jobab otho, Husham mane oa e piny jo-Teman nobedo ruoth kare.

and Jobab dies, and Husham from the land of the Temanite reigns in his stead.

35 Kane Husham otho, Hadad wuod Bedad, mane oloyo jo-Midian e piny jo-Moab nobedo ruoth kare. Dalane maduongʼ niluongo ni Avith.

And Husham dies, and Hadad son of Bedad reigns in his stead (who strikes Midian in the field of Moab), and the name of his city [is] Avith;

36 Kane Hadad otho, Samla ja-Masreka nobedo ruoth kare.

and Hadad dies, and Samlah of Masrekah reigns in his stead;

37 Kane Samla otho, Shaul ja-Rehoboth man but aora nobedo ruoth kare.

and Samlah dies, and Saul from Rehoboth of the River reigns in his stead;

38 Kane Shaul otho, Baal-Hanan wuod Akbor nobedo ruoth kare.

and Saul dies, and Ba‘al-hanan son of Achbor reigns in his stead;

39 Kane Baal-Hanan wuod Akbor otho, Hadad nobedo ruoth kare. Dalane maduongʼ niluongo ni Pau, kendo chiege niluongo ni Mehetabel nyar Matred, ma nyar Me-Zahab.

and Ba‘al-hanan son of Achbor dies, and Hadar reigns in his stead, and the name of his city [is] Pau; and his wife’s name [is] Mehetabel daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-zahab.

And these [are] the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families, according to their places, by their names: Chief Timnah, Chief Alvah, Chief Jetheth,

41 Oholibama, Ela, Pinon,

Chief Aholibamah, Chief Elah, Chief Pinon,

42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,

Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar,

43 Magdiel kod Iram. Magi ema ne jodong Edom, kaluwore gi dakgi e piny mane gikawo kaka margi. Ma e chal Esau, kwar jo-Edom.

Chief Magdiel, Chief Iram: these [are] chiefs of Edom, in reference to their dwellings, in the land of their possession; he [is] Esau father of Edom.
