< Esta 8 >
1 Chiengʼno ruoth Ahasuerus nomiyo Esta mwandu mag Haman, jasik jo-Yahudi. Kendo Modekai nobiro e nyim ruoth, nimar Esta nosenyise ni en watne.
On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he [was] unto her.
2 Ruoth nogolo terene mane oyudo osegolo kuom Haman, mi nomiyo Modekai. Kendo Esta nokete mondo orit mwandu mane mag Haman.
And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
3 Esta nochako ohombo ruoth mopodho e tiende koywak. Ne okwaye mondo oketh chenro marach mane Haman ja-Agag oseloso, mondo otimne jo-Yahudi.
And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.
4 Eka ruoth notingʼo ludhe mar dhahabu ne Esta bangʼe noa malo mochungʼ e nyim ruoth.
Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,
5 Nowacho niya, “Ka ber ne ruoth kendo ka ayudo ngʼwono e wangʼi kendo kiparo ni en gima ber timo kendo ka imor koda, to yie mondo igol chik mondiki maketho mano mane Haman wuod Hamedatha, ja-Agag oketo mondo otiek jo-Yahudi e gwenge duto ma ruoth orito.
And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing [seem] right before the king, and I [be] pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which [are] in all the king’s provinces:
6 Nimar ere kaka dalingʼ alingʼa ka aneno masira mabiro ne ogandana? Kata ere kaka dalingʼ alingʼa ka aneno ka idwaro tiek joodwa.”
For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
7 Ruoth Ahasuerus nodwoko Esta ma mikache gi Modekai ma ja-Yahudi niya, Nikech Haman ne obuko jo-Yahudi ma ema omiyo asemiyo Esta mwandune, to en to osenege, kongʼawe e yath.
Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
8 Koro ndik chik machielo gi nying ruoth kar jo-Yahudi kaka ineno ni berni, kendo iketie sei mar nying ruoth bangʼe ketie ranyisi mar tere mar ruoth, nimar gik moko duto mondiki e nying ruoth kendo oketie tere mar ruoth ok nyal loki kata kethi.
Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal [it] with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.
9 Kuom mano, noluong jondiko mag ruoth chiengʼ tarik piero ariyo gadek dwe mar adek miluongo ni Sivan. Negindiko weche duto mane Modekai ochiko ne ondiki ne jo-Yahudi, askeche, jotelo, kod joka ruoth modak e pinje mia achiel gi piero ariyo gabiriyo kochakore e piny India nyaka chop Kush. Chikegi nondiki e dhok mar piny ka piny kata mana mar jo-Yahudi bende nondiki e dhogi giwegi.
Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that [is], the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which [are] from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.
10 Modekai nondiko gi teko mar ruoth Ahasuerus mokete sei gi tere mar ruoth bangʼe nooro barupego gi jongʼwech maringo matek koidho farese mag ruoth.
And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed [it] with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, [and] riders on mules, camels, [and] young dromedaries:
11 Chik mane ruoth ogolono noyiene jo-Yahudi man e mier madongo duto mondo giritre kendgi; kendo mondo giketh kendo ginegi mi gitieki joma obiro nigi gi gige lweny moa e oganda moro amora, kata gwengʼ moro momonjogi gi mondgi gi nyithindgi kendo gipe mwandu mag wasikgi.
Wherein the king granted the Jews which [were] in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, [both] little ones and women, and [to take] the spoil of them for a prey,
12 Chiengʼ mane oyier ne jo-Yahudi mondo otimie magi e gwenge duto mag pinyruodh Ahasuerus ne en tarik apar gadek dwe mar apar gariyo dwe miluongo ni Adar.
Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, [namely], upon the thirteenth [day] of the twelfth month, which [is] the month Adar.
13 Chikno nyaka landi e pinje duto kendo ne ogendini duto, mondo jo-Yahudi oikre ne chiengʼ chulo kuor ne wasikgi.
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province [was] published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
14 Joote mane oidho farese maka ruoth noringo matek kadhi kaluwore gi chik mane ruoth ogolo. Milomeno bende nogo e ohinga mar Susa.
[So] the posts that rode upon mules [and] camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.
15 Modekai nowuok e nyim ruoth korwakore gi law marambulu mokikore gi rachar, osimbo mar duongʼ mar dhahabu, to gi kandho maralik molos law mayom. Kendo dala maduongʼ mar Susa notimo nyasi gi mor malich.
And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.
16 To ne jo-Yahudi, ne en kinde mar mor, gi ilo kod pak.
The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.
17 Kamoro amora e gwenge kendo e mier madongo kuonde mane barup ruoth oterie, jo-Yahudi nobedo gi mor ahinya kane giyweyo kendo gitimo nyasi. Joma ok jo-Yahudi nobedo ka jo-Yahudi nikech luoro mar jo-Yahudi nomakogi.
And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
