1 E kindeno kar kwan mar jopuonjre ne medore, omiyo jo-Yahudi mane wacho dho jo-Yunani nochako ngʼur gi jo-Yahudi wetegi mane wacho dho Hibrania. Jo-Yahudi mane wacho dho jo-Yunani ne ywak ni mon ma chwogi othogi ne ojwangʼ kaluwore gi kony mar chiemo mane ipogo mon ma chwogi otho.
But, in these days, the disciples, multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Grecian Jews against the Hebrews, in that, their widows, were being overlooked in the daily ministry.
2 Wachno nomiyo joote apar gariyo ochoko jopuonjre duto kanyakla, mi giwachonegi niya, “Ok ber mondo wajwangʼ tich mar yalo Wach Nyasaye mondo wapog chiemo.
And the Twelve, calling near the throng of the disciples, said—It doth not seem, right, that, we, forsaking the word of God, should be ministering unto tables.
3 Kuom mano, owetewa, yieruru ji abiriyo e dieru ka; joma ongʼere ni opongʼ gi Roho Maler kod rieko mondo waket tijni e lwetgi,
But look out for yourselves, brethren, seven men from among you, who can be well-attested, full of Spirit and wisdom, —whom we will appoint over this need;
4 eka wan wachiwre chuth ni tijwa mar lamo gi yalo Wach Nyasaye.”
But, we, unto prayer and unto the ministry of the word, will give constant attention.
5 Paroni nomoro joma oyie kuom Kristo duto kanyakla, omiyo ne giyiero Stefano, ngʼat mopongʼ gi yie kendo gi Roho Maler, gi Filipo, kod Prokoro, gi Nikanor, gi Timon, gi Parmenas, kod Nikolao ja-Antiokia, ngʼat mane olokore oluwo din jo-Yahudi.
And the word was pleasing in the sight of all the throng; and they selected Stephen, a man full of faith and Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicholaus, a proselyte of Antioch;
6 Negikelo jogi mi joote oyieyo lwetgi kuomgi kendo olamonegi.
Whom they set before the Apostles, and, praying, they laid upon them their hands.
7 Omiyo Wach Nyasaye nomedo landore, kendo kwan jopuonjre mane ni Jerusalem nomedore ahinya, kendo ji mangʼeny kuom jodolo nolokore moluwo yieno.
And, the word of God, went on growing, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem continued to multiply exceedingly; a great multitude of the priests also, were becoming obedient unto the faith.
8 To Stefano mane en ngʼat mopongʼ gi ngʼwono kod teko mar Nyasaye, notimo ranyisi madongo miwuoro kod honni e dier ji.
Now, Stephen, full of favour and power, began to do great wonders and signs among the people.
9 Kata kamano, jomoko nochako kedo kode. Jogi ne gin jokanyo mar oganda mane iluongo ni sinagogi mar wasumbini mogony. Ne gin jo-Yahudi modak Kurene, gi Aleksandria kod gwenge mag Kilikia kod Asia. Jogi nochako mino wach gi Stefano,
But there rose up certain of those out of the synagogue which is called [the synagogue] of them of Libertium and Cyrene and Alexandria, and certain of them from Cilicia and Asia, —disputing with Stephen;
10 to ne ok ginyal loyo riekone kod teko mar Roho mane owuoyogo.
And they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking,
11 Bangʼe ne gisemo jomoko lingʼ-lingʼ mondo owach niya, “Ne wawinjo Stefano kawacho weche mag ayany kuom Musa gi Nyasaye.”
Then, they set on men who were saying—We have heard him speaking profane things against Moses and God.
12 Omiyo negitugo mirimb ji kaachiel gi jodong oganda kod jopuonj chik. Negimako Stefano mi gikele e nyim buch Sanhedrin.
And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes; and, coming upon him, they caught him away, and led him into the high-council.
13 Eka negichiwo joneno mag miriambo, mane ojimbo wach kuome kawacho niya, “Ngʼatni osiko wuoyo marach kuom kama ler, kendo kuom Chik.
And they set up false witnesses, who said—This man, ceaseth not speaking things against this holy place and the law;
14 Nikech ne wawinje gi itwa kowacho ni Yesu ma ja-Nazarethni biro ketho hekaluni mi olok tim mane Musa omiyowa mondo waluw.”
For we have heard him saying—This Jesus the Nazarene, will overthrow this place, and will change the customs which, Moses, delivered unto us.
15 Ji duto mane obedo e buch Sanhedrin ne ngʼiyo Stefano ma wengegi ok diemre, kendo negineno ka lela wangʼe chal gi lend wangʼ malaika.
And, looking steadfastly at him, all they who were sitting in the high-council, saw his face, as if the face of a messenger;
