< 2 Samuel 10 >

1 Bangʼ kinde moko ruodh jo-Amon notho, mi Hanun wuode nobedo ruoth kare.
It happened after this, that the king of the people of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his place.
2 Daudi noparo niya, “Abiro timo maber ni Hanun wuod Nahash, mana kaka wuon-gi bende notimona tim ngʼwono.” Omiyo Daudi nooro joote mondo odhi ogone mos makende kuom tho mar wuon-gi. Kane joote Daudi ochopo e piny jo-Amon,
David said, "I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me." So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. David's servants came into the land of the people of Ammon.
3 jotelo mag jo-Amon nowachone Hanun ma ruodhgi niya, “Iparo ni Daudi miyo wuonu duongʼ ka ooro ji iri mondo ogoni mos? Donge Daudi oorogi mana mondo gibi ginon dala maduongʼ mondo oyud kaka dokawe?”
But the leaders of the people of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Hasn't David sent his servants to you to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?"
4 Omiyo Hanun nomako joote Daudi molielo bath yie tik moro ka moro nyakonchiel; nongʼado lepgi e diere tir chakre e nungogi nyaka piny, moriembogi gidhi.
So Hanun took David's servants and shaved off their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
5 Kane onyis Daudi wachni, nooro joote mondo odhi orom ni jogo, nikech nokuod wigi marach. Ruoth nowachonegi niya, “Beduru Jeriko nyaka yie tiku ti, eka uduogi.”
When David was told, he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, "Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return."
6 Kane jo-Amon oneno ka gisechido chuny Daudi, negichulo jo-Aram mondo omigi jolweny mawuotho gi tiendgi ji alufu piero ariyo moa Beth Rehob gi Zoba, to gi ruodh Maaka bende nomiyogi jolweny alufu achiel to gi jolweny alufu apar gariyo moa Tob.
When the people of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the people of Ammon sent and hired the Arameans of Beth Rehob, and the Arameans of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with one thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.
7 Ka Daudi nowinjo mano nooro Joab gi jolweny duto ma jokedo.
When David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the army of the mighty men.
8 Jo-Amon nobiro mi giriedo ne lweny e dhoranga dalagi maduongʼ, ka jo-Aram moa Zoba gi Rehob gi jo-Tob gi Maaka ne nikendgi e pap oko.
The people of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Arameans of Zobah and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
9 Joab noneno ni wasigu ni yo ka nyime gi yo katoke; omiyo noyiero jolweny mabeyo moloyo ei Israel, moketogi mondo giked gi jo-Aram.
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Arameans:
10 To joma odongʼ duto noketo e bwo Abishai mowadgi mondo oked gi jo-Amon.
The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the people of Ammon.
11 Joab nowacho niya, “Ka jo-Aram tek moloya, to ubi ukonya, to ka jo-Amon tek moloyou, to anabi mondo akonyi.
He said, "If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the people of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.
12 Beduru motegno mondo waked gi chir ni jowa kendo ni mier madongo mag Nyasachwa. Jehova Nyasaye biro timo gima oneno ni ber e nyim wangʼe.”
Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and the LORD do that which seems good to him."
13 Eka Joab gi jolweny mane ni kode nodhi mondo oked gi jo-Aram, kendo negiringo e nyimgi.
So Joab and the people who were with him drew near to the battle against the Arameans: and they fled before him.
14 Kane jo-Amon oneno ka jo-Aram ringo tony, gin bende negiringo ka gitony e nyim Abishai mi gidonjo e dala maduongʼ. Omiyo Joab noweyo kedo gi jo-Amon modok Jerusalem.
When the people of Ammon saw that the Arameans had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the people of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
15 Bangʼ kane jo-Aram oneno ni jo-Israel oseloyogi, negichokore kendo.
When the Arameans saw that they were defeated by the children of Israel, they gathered themselves together.
16 Hadadezer nooro wach mondo okel jo-Aram man loka Aora Yufrate kendo gidhi Helam ka Shobak ma en jatend jolweny mag Hadadezer, otelonegi.
Hadadezer sent, and brought out the Arameans who were beyond the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
17 Kane owach ni Daudi wachno, nochoko jo-Israel duto, mongʼado aora Jordan modhi Helam. Jo-Aram nochanore ni lweny mondo girad gi Daudi kendo negikedo kode.
It was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. The Arameans set themselves in array against David, and fought with him,
18 To jo-Israel noloyogi mi giringo, kendo Daudi nonego joidh gechegi mag farese mia abiriyo kod jolweny mag-gi mawuotho gi tielo alufu piero angʼwen. Nochwowo Shobak jatend jolweny, motho kanyo.
but fled before Israel; and David killed of the Arameans seven hundred charioteers, and forty thousand foot soldiers, and struck Shobach the commander of their army, and he died there.
19 Kane ruodhi duto mane ni e bwo loch Hadadezer oneno ni jo-Israel oseloyogi, negiloso kwe e kindgi gi jo-Israel mi gibedo e bwo lochgi. Omiyo jo-Aram nobedo maluor mar konyo jo-Amon kendo.
When all the vassals of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Arameans were afraid to give further aid to the Ammonites.
