1 Koro Ben-Hadad ruodh Aram nochoko jolwenje duto. Koriwore gi ruodhi piero adek gariyo man-gi farese kod geche nodhi molworo Samaria kendo omonje.
And Ben-Hadad king of Aram has gathered all his force, and thirty-two kings [are] with him, and horse and chariot, and he goes up and lays siege against Samaria, and fights with it,
2 Nooro joote ei dala ir Ahab ruodh Israel kawacho niya, “Ma e gima Ben-Hadad wacho:
and sends messengers to Ahab king of Israel, to the city,
3 ‘Fedha magi gi dhahabu magi gin maga kendo mondi mabeyo kod nyithindi gin maga.’”
and says to him, “Thus said Ben-Hadad: Your silver and your gold are mine, and your wives and your sons—the best—are mine.”
4 To ruodh Israel nodwoke niya, “Mana kaka iwacho ruodha jaloch, An kaachiel gi mwanduna duto wan magi.”
And the king of Israel answers and says, “According to your word, my lord, O king: I [am] yours, and all that I have.”
5 Jootego noduogo kendo mowacho niya, “Ma e gima Ben-Hadad owacho: ‘Naoro mondo akaw dhahabu magi kod fedha magi kaachiel gi mondi gi nyithindi.
And the messengers turn back and say, “Thus spoke Ben-Hadad, saying, Surely I sent to you, saying, Your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your sons, you give to me;
6 To kiny kar sa maka ma, abiro oro jodonga mondo omany odi mar ruoth kaachiel gi ut jodongi. Gibiro kawo gimoro amora mikwano kaka gima berni.’”
for if, at this time tomorrow, I send my servants to you, then they have searched your house, and the houses of your servants, and it has been [that] every desirable thing of your eyes they place in their hand, and have taken [them] away.”
7 Ruodh Israel noluongo jodongo duto mag piny mowachonegi niya, “Neuru kaka ngʼatni dwaro chandruok! Kane odwaro dhahabu maga gi fedha maga kaachiel gi monda gi nyithinda ne ok atame.”
And the king of Israel calls to all [the] elderly of the land and says, “Please know and see that this [one] is seeking evil, for he sent to me for my wives, and for my sons, and for my silver, and for my gold, and I did not withhold from him.”
8 Jodongo kaachiel gi ji duto nodwoke kawacho niya, “Kik iwinje kata yie kik iyie gik modwaro.”
And all the elderly and all the people say to him, “Do not listen, nor consent.”
9 Kamano nodwoko joote mag Ben-Hadad niya, “Nyis ruodha ma jaloch kama, ‘Jatichni biro timo duto mane idwaro mokwongo, to dwaronini ok anyal.’” Negia gitero ni Ben-Hadad dwoko.
And he says to the messengers of Ben-Hadad, “Say to my lord the king, All that you sent to your servant for at the first I do, and this thing I am not able to do”; and the messengers go and take him back word.
10 Eka Ben-Hadad nochako ooro ote machielo ni Ahab kowachone niya, “Mad nyiseche timna kata bedi ni en malit machalo nade, ka ok otieko Samaria pep molokore buru.”
And Ben-Hadad sends to him and says, “Thus the gods do to me, and thus do they add, if the dust of Samaria suffice for handfuls for all the people who [are] at my feet.”
11 Ruodh Israel nodwoke niya, “Nyise kama: ‘Ngʼat morwako lepe mag lweny ok onego go siboi ka ngʼat molonyo lepe mag lweny.’”
And the king of Israel answers and says, “Speak: Do not let him who is girding on boast himself as him who is loosing [his armor].”
12 Ben-Hadad nowinjo oteno ka en kaachiel gi ruodhi ne metho e hembegi mi nochiko joge niya, “Ikreuru mondo umonjgi.” Omiyo negiikore mondo gimonj dalano maduongʼ.
And it comes to pass at the hearing of this word—and he is drinking, he and the kings, in the shelters—that he says to his servants, “Set yourselves”; and they set themselves against the city.
13 To e kindeno janabi moro nobiro ir Ahab Ruodh Israel molando niya, “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho, ‘Donge ineno jolweny mangʼenygi? Abiro chiwe e lweti kawuono kendo ibiro ngʼeyo ni An e Jehova Nyasaye.’”
And behold, a certain prophet has come near to Ahab king of Israel and says, “Thus said YHWH: Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I am giving it into your hand today, and you have known that I [am] YHWH.”
14 To Ahab nopenjo niya, “To en ngʼatno mabiro timo mano?” To janabi nodwoke niya, “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho: ‘Rowere ma jolweny mag jotend lweny mar gwenge ema biro timo mani.’” Nopenjo niya, “En ngʼa mabiro chako lweny?” To janabi nodwoke niya, “In ema ibiro timo kamano.”
And Ahab says, “By whom?” And he says, “Thus said YHWH: By the young men of the heads of the provinces”; and he says, “Who directs the battle?” And he says, “You.”
15 Kamano Ahab nochiko rowere ma jotend lweny mag gwenge maromo ji mia ariyo gi piero adek gariyo. Eka nochoko jo-Israel mamoko maromo ji alufu abiriyo koriwore.
And he inspects the young men of the heads of the provinces, and they are two hundred and thirty-two, and after them he has mustered all the people, all the sons of Israel—seven thousand,
16 Negichako wuoth odiechiengʼ tir ka Ben-Hadad kod ruodhi piero adek gariyo moriwore kode ne nitie e hema metho.
and they go out at noon, and Ben-Hadad is drinking—drunk in the shelters, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings helping him.
17 Rowere ma jotend lweny mag gwenge nodhi mokwongo. Koro Ben-Hadad nooro jombetre mane odwogone wach kama, “Jomoko biro kowuok Samaria.”
And the young men of the heads of the provinces go out at the first, and Ben-Hadad sends, and they declare to him, saying, “Men have come out of Samaria.”
18 Nodwoko kama, “Ka gibiro gi kwe, makgiuru ka gingima; to ka gibiro ni lweny, to bende makgiuru ka gingima.”
And he says, “If they have come out for peace, catch them alive; and if they have come out for battle, catch them alive.”
19 Rowere ma jotend lweny mag gwenge nowuok e dala ka jolweny luwo bangʼ-gi,
And these have gone out of the city—the young men of the heads of the provinces—and the force that [is] after them,
20 kendo moro ma moro nonego jadhape. Gikanyono jo-Aram noringo ka jo-Israel lawogi. To Ben-Hadad ruodh jo-Aram notony koidho farase kod joidh faresene mamoko.
and each strikes his man, and Aram flees, and Israel pursues them, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram escapes on a horse—and the horsemen;
21 Ruodh Israel nolawogi kendo nohinyo jo-farese kod jo-geche mi nonego jo-Aram mangʼeny.
and the king of Israel goes out, and strikes the horses, and the charioteers, and has struck among the Arameans a great striking.
22 Bangʼe janabi nobiro ir ruodh Israel monyise niya, “Koro jiw jolweny magi mondo ine gima onego itim nimar ruodh Aram biro monji kendo e chwiri mabiro.”
And the prophet comes near to the king of Israel and says to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and know and see that which you do, for at the turn of the year the king of Aram is coming up against you.”
23 E kindego jodong ruoth nongʼado rieko ni ruodh Aram nongʼadone rieko kagiwachone niya, “nyisechegi gin nyiseche gode, mano emomiyo ne gin gi teko moloyowa; to ka wakedo kodgi e pewe to adier wabiro bedo matek maloyogi.
And the servants of the king of Aram said to him, “Their gods [are] gods of hills, therefore they were stronger than us; and yet, we fight with them in the plain—are we not stronger than they?
24 To tim kama: Gol ruodhi duto e telo ni lweny kendo wilgi gi jotelo mamoko.
And this thing you do: turn aside each of the kings out of his place, and set captains in their stead;
25 Bende nyaka ichok jolweny marom gi mago mane wawito farese kar farese mane walalo kod geche kar geche mane walalo eka mondo waked gi Israel e pewe. Eka adier wanabed matek moloyogi.” Noyie kodgi motimo kaka owinjore.
and you, number for yourself a force as the force that is fallen from you, and horse for horse, and chariot for chariot, and we fight with them in the plain; are we not stronger than they?” And he listens to their voice, and does so.

And it comes to pass at the turn of the year, that Ben-Hadad inspects the Arameans, and goes up to Aphek, to battle with Israel,
27 Kane jo-Israel bende nochoki momigi gige konyruok, ne giwuok mondo girom kodgi. Jo-Israel nogoyo kambi momanyore kodgi machalo gi kweth ariyo mag diek, ka jo-Aram to nokwako pewe.
and the sons of Israel have been inspected, and supported, and go to meet them, and the sons of Israel encamp before them, like two flocks of goats, and the Arameans have filled the land.
28 Ngʼat Nyasaye nobiro monyiso ruodh Israel niya, “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye wacho, nikech jo-Aram paro ni Jehova Nyasaye en nyasach gode to ok nyasach holni, abiro chiwo jolweny mangʼenygi e lweti kendo ibiro ngʼeyo ni an Jehova Nyasaye.”
And a man of God comes near, and speaks to the king of Israel and says, “Thus said YHWH: Because that the Arameans have said, YHWH [is] God of [the] hills, but He [is] not God of [the] valleys—I have given the whole of this great multitude into your hand, and you have known that I [am] YHWH.”
29 Kuom ndalo abiriyo negigoyo kambi ka gimanyore, kendo e odiechiengʼ mar abiriyo lweny norado. Jo-Israel nonego jolwenj Aram ma jotelo maromo alufu mia achiel odiechiengno.
And they encamp opposite one another [for] seven days, and it comes to pass on the seventh day, that the battle draws near, and the sons of Israel strike one hundred thousand footmen of Aram in one day.
30 Joma nodongʼ kuomgi notony modhi Afek kama ohinga nomukore monego ji alufu piero ariyo gabiriyo. To Ben-Hadad noringo modhi e dala maduongʼ mopondo ei ot maiye.
And those left flee to Aphek, into the city, and the wall falls on twenty-seven chief men who are left, and Ben-Hadad has fled, and comes into the city, into the innermost part.
31 Jodonge nowachone niya, “Ne, wasewinjo ni ruodhi mag jo-Israel ngʼwon. Yie wadhi ir ruodh Israel ka watweyo pien gugru e nungowa kendo ka watweyo tonde e wiwa. Dipo ka okechi.”
And his servants say to him, “Now behold, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel—that they are kind kings; please let us put sackcloth on our loins and ropes on our heads, and we go out to the king of Israel; it may be he keeps you alive.”
32 Negidhi ir ruodh Israel ka girwako lep pien gugru e nungogi kendo gitweyo tonde wigi mi giwachone niya, “Jatichni Ben-Hadad wacho niya, Yie iweya abed mangima.” Eka ruoth nodwoko niya, “Pod ongima? En owadwa.”
And they gird sackcloth on their loins, and ropes [are] on their heads, and they come to the king of Israel, and say, “Your servant Ben-Hadad has said, Please let me live”; and he says, “Is he still alive? He [is] my brother.”
33 Jogo nokaw wachno kaka ranyisi maber kendo negikawo wachno piyo piyo ma giwacho niya, “Ee, owadu Ben-Hadad!” Ruoth nowachonigi niya, “Dhiuru mondo uome.” Kane Ben-Hadad osewuok oko, Ahab noluongo mondo oidh gache.
And the men observe diligently, and hurry, and catch [the word] from him, and say, “Your brother Ben-Hadad”; and he says, “Go in, bring him”; and Ben-Hadad comes out to him, and he causes him to come up on the chariot.
34 Ben-Hadad noyie mowachone niya, “Abiro dwoko mier mane wuonwa okawo kuom wuonu.” Inyalo keto chirni magu uwuon Damaski mana kaka wuonwa notimo Samaria. Ahab nodwoke niya, “Kuom winjruok ma wabiro timo abiro weyi mondo idhi.” Kuom mano notimo kode winjruok moweye odhi.
And he says to him, “The cities that my father took from your father, I give back, and you make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria; and I, with a covenant, send you away”; and he makes a covenant with him, and sends him away.
35 Kuom wach Jehova Nyasaye achiel kuom yawuot jonabi nowacho ni wadgi niya, “Goya gi gir lwenji mitingʼo,” to ngʼatno notamore.
And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbor by the word of YHWH, “Please strike me”; and the man refuses to strike him,
36 Kamano janabi nowacho niya, “Nikech ok isewinjo dwond Jehova Nyasaye, mapiyo piyo kiwuok ka, to sibuor biro negi.” Kendo bangʼ ka ngʼatno nosea, sibuor noyude monege.
and he says to him, “Because that you have not listened to the voice of YHWH, behold, you are going from me, and the lion has struck you”; and he goes from him, and the lion finds him, and strikes him.
37 Janabino noyudo ngʼat machielo mowachone niya, “Kiyie to goya.” Kamano ngʼatno nogoye mohinye.
And he finds another man and says, “Please strike me”; and the man strikes him, striking and wounding,
38 Eka janabino nodhi mochungʼ e bath yo korito ruoth. Noumo wangʼe gi kilemba mar wiye mondo kik fweny ni en ngʼa.
and the prophet goes and stands for the king on the way, and disguises himself with ashes on his eyes.
39 Kane ruoth kadho kanyo janabi noluonge mowachone niya, “Jatichni nodhi e chuny lweny, kendo ngʼato nobiro ira gi misumba momaki mowachona ni, ‘Rit ngʼatni kolal to ngimani biro chulo ngimane kata ibiro chulo fedha maromo kilo piero adek gangʼwen.’
And it comes to pass—the king is passing by—that he has cried to the king and says, “Your servant went out into the midst of the battle, and behold, a man has turned aside and brings a man to me, and says, Keep this man; if he is at all missing, then your life has been for his life, or you weigh out a talent of silver;
40 Kane jatijno odich ka gi kacha ngʼatno nolal.” Ruodh Israel nodwoke niya, “Mano e bura mongʼadni nikech isewache iwuon.”
and it comes to pass, your servant is working here and there, and he is not!” And the king of Israel says to him, “Your judgment [is] right; you have determined [it].”
41 Eka janabi nogolo kilemba mane ogengʼogo wangʼe mi ruodh jo-Israel nofwenye kaka achiel kuom jonabi.
And he hurries and turns aside the ashes from off his eyes, and the king of Israel discerns him, that he [is] of the prophets,
42 Nowacho ni ruoth niya, “Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye owacho: ‘Iseweyo ngʼat mane awacho ni nyaka tho odhi thuolo. Kuom mano inichul ngimane gi ngimani kendo jogi kuom joge.’”
and he says to him, “Thus said YHWH: Because you have sent away the man I devoted, out of [your] hand, even your life has been for his life, and your people for his people”;
43 Ruodh Israel nodhi e ode mar ruoth Samaria ka chunye orumo kendo ka iye owangʼ kod mirima.
and the king of Israel goes to his house, sulky and angry, and comes to Samaria.
