< 1 Jo-Korintho 14 >

1 Luwuru hera, kendo dwaruru mondo ubed gi mich mag chuny, to moloyo beduru johul wach.
FOLLOW earnestly after love, and zealously seek spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
2 Nikech ngʼat ma wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore ok wuo gi ji, to owuoyo gi Nyasaye, nikech onge ngʼama winjo tiend gima owacho. Owacho weche mopondo modhiero ngʼeyo gi teko mar Roho.
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no man understandeth him; although in spirit he speaketh mysterious truths.
3 To ngʼat ma hulo wach, wuoyo gi ji mondo ogergi, ojiwgi kendo oduog chunygi.
But he that prophesieth, addresseth men for edification, and exhortation, and consolation.
4 Ngʼat ma wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore gerore kende owuon, to ngʼat ma hulo wach moa kuom Nyasaye gero kanisa.
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth, edifieth the church.
5 Daher mondo uwuo gi dhok mayoreyore uduto, to moloyo mano, ni mondo uhul wach. Ngʼat ma hulo wach duongʼ moloyo ngʼat ma wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore makmana ka nitie ngʼat manyalo loko tiend wach modhumono, mondo kanisni duto oyud konyruok.
Now I could wish that you all spake with tongues, but rather that ye should prophesy: for greater is he that prophesieth, than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret also, that the church may receive edification.
6 Koro, jowetena, uparo ni ka abiro iru mi awuoyonu gi dhok mayoreyore, en konyruok mane ma duyudi, ka ok akelonu fweny moro kata ngʼeyo, kata wach mihulo kata puonj?
Now I, brethren, if I should come unto you, speaking in unknown languages, what should I profit you, unless I should speak to you intelligibly by revelation, or by science, or by prophecy, or by doctrine?
7 Kata mana gik maonge ngima kuomgi, kaka asili, kata nyatiti, to dingʼe ywakgi nadi ka ok ipogo dwondgi?
In like manner things inanimate, giving sound, whether the pipe, or the harp, unless they express a distinction in their tones, how shall it be known what is piped, or what is harped?
8 To bende, ka turumbete ok ogo gi dwol mongʼere, ngʼama diikre ni lweny?
For if the trumpet also give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
9 Chal kamano kuomu un bende. Ka ok ukonyoru gi weche maliw ma ji duto winjo, to ngʼama biro ngʼeyo tiend gima uwacho? Wecheu biro lal nono mana ka yamo!
So also ye, unless with the tongue you speak an intelligible discourse, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will speak to the air.
10 Ongʼere ni nitiere dhok mopogore opogore e piny, to onge kata achiel kuomgi maonge gi tiendgi.
For though there are so many different kinds of languages in the world, yet is not one of them without its meaning.
11 To ka ok apogo dwond ngʼato, to achalone jamwa, kendo en bende ochalona jamwa.
If therefore I know not the force of the expression, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian unto me.
12 Emomiyo un bende kaka udwaro mondo ubed gi mich mag Roho, temuru matek moloyo mondo unwangʼ mich mago magero kanisa.
So also ye, if ye zealously affect spiritual gifts, seek that ye may abound in them for the edification of the church.
13 Kuom mano, ngʼat ma wuoyo gi dhok moro amora ma ji kia, olem mondo obed gi nyalo mar loko tiend gik mowacho.
Therefore let him who speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret also.
14 Nikech ka alamo gi dhok mayoreyore, to chunya ema alamogo, to pacha ok ti.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my mind produces no fruit.
15 To koro kara atim angʼo? Abiro lamo gi chunya, to bende abiro lamo gi pacha, abiro wer gi chunya, to bende abiro wer gi pacha.
What then is my object? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing psalms with the spirit, and I will sing psalms with the understanding also.
16 Ka upako Nyasaye gi chunyu, to ere kaka ngʼato manie dieru ma ok winji dhougo digo niya, “Amin” bangʼ erokamano mugoyo, ka okia gima uwacho?
Else, though thou bless God in spirit, how shall he who filleth the place of an illiterate man, say Amen after thy thanksgiving, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest?
17 Nyalo bet ni igoyo erokamano maber chuth, to ngʼat machielo ok gerre.
For thou indeed givest thanks to God well, but another man is not edified by it.
18 Adwokone Nyasaye erokamano nikech awuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore moloyo un duto,
I thank my God, that I speak with different tongues more than you all:
19 to ka an e kind kanisa, to daher wacho weche kata abich kende gi dhok ma ji duto winjo mondo apuonj moloyo weche alufu apar gi dhok mayoreyore ma ji ok winji.
but in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
20 Jowetena, kik ubed nyithindo e pachu, to chaluru nyithindo mayom mana kuom gima rach kende, to e pachu beduru jomadongo.
Brethren, be not children in your minds: though in naughtiness be ye children, but in your minds be men complete.
21 Ondiki e kitap chik niya, “Anakonyra gi joma wacho dhok mayoreyore kendo gi dho joma welo, abiro wuoyo gi jogi to kata kamano ok giniwinja, Jehova Nyasaye ema wacho kamano.”
In the law it is written, “That with other tongues, and with other lips, will I speak to this people: and even thus will they not attend to me, saith the Lord.”
22 Kuom mano, mich mar wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore en ranyisi miywayogo joma pok oyie, to ok joma oseyie. Mich mar hulo wach to en mar joma oseyie ok joma pok oyie.
Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to those that believe, but to those who do not believe: but the gift of prophecy is not for those who are infidels, but for believers.
23 Omiyo ka kanisa ochokore kaachiel, to ji duto wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore, to ka nitie jomoko ma ok winj dhogino, kata ka joma ok oyie moko odonjo e chokruogno, donge digiwach ni wiu okethore?
If then the whole church assemble together in the same place, and all speak different tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say ye are mad?
24 To ka ngʼat ma ok oyie, kata ngʼat moro ma ok winj tiend gik miwacho odonjo e chokruoku, to oyudo ka ji duto hulo wach, weche mowinjo nyalo loye gi bura, mi olokre,
But if all prophesy, and any infidel or illiterate person come in, he receives conviction from all, he is judged of all:
25 kendo paro malingʼ-lingʼ mopondo e chunye elore e lela, mi opodh auma kolamo Nyasaye, kowacho niya, “Adier, Nyasaye ni kodu!”
and thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God verily is among you.
26 Jowetena, koro wanyalo wacho angʼo? Ka un e chokruok mar lemo, to yudore ni ngʼat moro nigi wer, to ngʼat machielo nigi puonj, to moro nigi fweny, to machielo dwaro wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore kata loko tiend wach miwachono. To gigi duto nyaka tim e yo mochanore magero kanisa.
How comes it then, brethren, that when ye assemble together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation? Let all things be done to edification.
27 Ka nitie joma wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore, to ji ariyo kata adek ka ngʼeny kende ema mondo owuo, to mana e yo mochanore maber, ka moro ka moro wuoyo bangʼ wadgi, kendo ngʼato nyaka lok tiend weche ma giwachogo.
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and one after another; and let one interpret.
28 To kaonge ngʼato manyalo loko tiend wechego, to ngʼat ma wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore mondo olingʼ e kanisa, to owuo mana e chunye owuon kende gi Nyasaye.
But if there be not an interpreter, let him be silent in the church; but let him speak to himself and to God.
29 Joma hulo wach kik bed mokalo ji ariyo kata adek, kendo ka giwuoyo, to ji mamoko onon mos ka bende weche magiwacho owinjore.
Let the prophets two or three speak, and let the others judge.
30 To ka ngʼato moro manie chokruokno omi wach moro mopondo mondo owachi, ngʼat mane oyudo dhi nyime gi wuoyo nyaka lingʼ mondi, eka owuo.
But if any thing should be revealed to one sitting by, let the first be silent.
31 Nikech un duto unyalo hulo wach, ka ngʼato ka ngʼato koro bangʼ nyawadgi, mondo ji duto oyud puonj kod jip.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all be comforted.
32 Roho mar janabi niginyalo mar gengʼo wach ma odwaro wacho,
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 nikech Nyasaye ok en Nyasach koko, to en Nyasach kwe. To mana kaka timore ei kanisa mar jomaler,
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of his saints.
34 jomamon onego olingʼ e kanisa. Ok oyienigi wuoyo, nyaka giwinj puonj mana ka gilingʼ kaka chik wacho.
Let your women be silent in the churches: for it is not permitted to them to speak: but to be in subjection, as also the law saith.
35 Ka gidwaro mondo olernigi tiend wach moro, to gipenj chwogi giwegi dala, nikech en wichkuot ka dhako wuoyo e kanisa.
But if they will learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36 Koro kuparo ni un ema ne wach Nyasaye ochakore kuomu? Koso ugalo ni un kendu ema wach osechoponu?
Went the word of God from you? or came it unto you only?
37 Ka ngʼato okawore ni en jahul wach kata ni en gi mich mar Roho, to nyaka oyie ni wach mandikonuni en chik Ruoth.
If any man thinketh that he is a prophet, or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that the things which I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 Ka ngʼato ok orwako puonjnani, to en bende ok norwake.
But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Kuom mano, jowetena, gomburu bedo johul wach, to kik utam ji wuoyo gi dhok mayoreyore.
Wherefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 Timuru gik moko duto e yo mowinjore kendo mochanore.
Let all things be done with propriety, and orderly.
